Ellen Page Comes Out: “I’m Tired Of Lying By Omission”

Ellen Page did it, you guys: she came out. And to a roomful of people while giving a very stirring speech. She spoke at the Human Rights Campaign “Time To Thrive” conference for LGBTQ youth.

Here’s what she said:

But to sum up, the major points were,

I am here today because I am gay. (Applause, standing ovation.) And because maybe I can make a difference. To help others have a easier and more hopeful time. Regardless for me I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility. I also do it selfishly, because I’m tired of hiding, and I’m tired of lying by omission. (Applause.)

I recommend watching the entire thing, it’s pretty good.

For Your Viewing Pleasure: ‘The East’ Trailer

I am not being sarcastic – if you are even just a little bit like me, I am sure that you will take a certain twisted kind of pleasure in watching Ellen Page in a thriller about guerrilla activists having their revenge on the all-powerful, evil corporate clique that poisons the environment and the minds of the people.  Insert Occupy Wall Street jokes here.

I am so excited about seeing this, I almost wish it was real life.
