Isan Elba, the daughter of actor Idris Elba and makeup artist and businesswoman Kim Norgaard, will serve as the 2019 Golden Globe Ambassador at the Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 6. She appeared at a Golden Globes luncheon on Thursday, where HFPA president Meher Tatna announced that Isan Elba’s charity of choice would be the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation, which raises awareness about mental health issues in the African-American community. Variety caught up with the 16-year-old, who turns 17 on Friday, at the luncheon to talk about stepping up to the ambassador role, her love for Gaga, and her father’s recent #MeToo comments.

How do you feel with three days to the event?
I have no nerves. Literally, I have no nerves. Everybody’s like, “What?” I just got my dress yesterday, wasn’t nervous, wasn’t freaking out about not having a dress. I’m just really chill. I think on the day of, all of that’s going to catch up with me. Hopefully not, though.

Is there someone you’re dying to meet?
Lady Gaga. I’ve been a Gaga fan since I was a little girl. So 12-year-old me is going to scream.

What would you say to her?
She’s an inspiration. I would be like, “Gaga, I don’t want to waste your time, but thank you so much for being an inspiration for me and being yourself.” Because she’s ahead of her time. People are now embracing their weirdness that people are talking about and now it’s coming out of everybody and it’s more in the norm to do that and she did that, and I think that’s so amazing.

Was there a film or show that moved you in 2018?
“Pose.” I love anything by Ryan Murphy and it’s about the transgender community and I thought it was so interesting because you have the balls, but it’s not all about glamour. It’s about what they went through and the hate that was put toward them. It’s so upsetting and sad that that had to happen. I think it’s a great representation. It teaches you lessons, and I think that’s what our society needs at this point. Just something that progresses, not just a little sitcom.

What did you think about the comments your dad made about #MeToo? (In a recent interview with the Sunday Times, Idris Elba said the #MeToo movement is “only difficult if you’re a man with something to hide.”)
I mean, yes. That was it. That was it. I loved what he said, because that is so true. You shouldn’t be worried about it unless you have something to hide. I’m really into using your influence to talk about stuff, and I guess my dad has a lot of influence. And being a male that says that — a lot of guys look up to him, or people see him in the public eye and he said that, it was like a statement. It was one quick short statement, but it has influence and I think it was really really cool that he’s said that.

What made you want to pick mental health as your philanthropic effort?
My mom suffers from mental illness and being able to have this platform, and talk about something that I care about and that hits home, was really like, “Yes, I have to do this.” It’s something I care about and like I said, using your influence to talk about something you care about or an issue that needs to be fixed, I thought it was the perfect opportunity. And after this, I will still continue to advocate for mental health. And in the African-American community and among teenagers, because I’m both, and it’s such taboo in both communities.

Taylor Swift’s app, The Swift Life, to shut down in February

Taylor Swift is following in the footsteps of the Kardashian-Jenner sisters and shutting down her app.

The app, named The Swift Life, announced the news on its Twitter account that as of Feb. 1, it won’t be available for download. It was launched last year in partnership with Swift’s “Reputation” album release.

“Over a year ago, we launched The Swift Life alongside Taylor’s critically acclaimed, 6th studio album, ‘Reputation,'” the statement read. “It provided a creative and inclusive place for Taylor and her fans to connect with each other while expressing themselves in a uniquely interactive community.”

The statement continued, “As the ‘Reputation’ era comes to an end, our time on The Swift Life will be ending too.”

Current users will be able to utilize the virtual currency they have until Feb. 1, but in-app purchases already have been disabled.

“We would like to thank all the dedicated fans who downloaded The Swift Life, engaged with this amazing community and created gorgeous pieces of content for others to enjoy,” the statement concluded.

The Kardashian-Jenner sisters announced in December that they’d also be shutting down their paid apps in 2019.

“We’ve had an incredible experience connecting with all of you through our apps these past few years but have made the difficult decision to no longer continue updating in 2019,” read the statement. “We truly hope you’ve enjoyed this journey as much as we have, and we look forward to what’s ahead.”

Olivia Newton-John responds to rumors of her impending death

Olivia Newton-John has spoken out after claims she was on her deathbed.

After reports began circulating that the singer’s condition had taken a turn for the worse, with claims that her body was “shutting down” and that she only had “weeks” to live, Newton-John reassured her fans that she was doing just fine.

In a video posted to her social media account on Wednesday, the 70-year-old Grease actress — who announced in 2017 she’d been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer that has spread to her back — borrowed the words of Mark Twain and explained that the recent claims were merely “greatly exaggerated” rumors.

“Happy New Year, everyone!” a bright and cheery Newton-John happily exclaimed in the clip. “I just want to say the rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated, to quote a very famous quote, and I’m doing great and I want to wish all of you the happiest, healthiest 2019 that’s possible.”

“Thank you all for the wonderful love and support for me and for my Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness Centre in Melbourne, Australia,” she added.

Kim and Kanye having 4th child

It’s baby No. 4 for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

The couple is expecting their fourth child together, a boy, via surrogate, Us Weekly reports.

A rep for Kim declined to comment to Page Six.

The new baby is expected to arrive in early May and will join siblings North West, 5, Saint West, 3, and Chicago West, 11 months.

When Kim’s previous surrogate, La’Reina Haynes, was pregnant with Chicago, Kim told “Entertainment Tonight” that Saint and North were looking forward to having a new sister.

“They are excited,” Kim said. “I mean, I don’t know if they don’t feel it as much because they don’t see my big belly and probably hear me complaining every two seconds. But, we do talk about it a lot, so I think they are really excited. I think my son, I don’t know how he is going to react because he doesn’t get it yet, but my daughter is really excited.”

Tiffany Haddish bombs on NYE stage

Like many people on New Year’s Eve, Tiffany Haddish had a night she’d probably like to forget.

While performing to a sold-out audience at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, Haddish reportedly bombed so hard on Monday night, several fans got up and walked out of the comedy show.

“This is going to be on TMZ or whatever,” the “Girls Trip” actress-comedian told the unhappy patrons.

Haddish — who confirmed the report on Tuesday, saying, “Yes this happened…I wish it was better Miami” — apparently forgot several of her jokes, and the ones she did recall, like her mother being in a mental institution or her friends asking for money, reportedly fell flat.

Haddish had previously admitted to partying the night before until 7 in the morning.

“This is weird for me,” Haddish said during the New Year’s show before grabbing a bottle of Ciroc and drinking onstage as she invited audience members to tell jokes as the hecklers and boos grew louder.

“F–k it,” she said. “I really wanted to talk about some stuff and can’t remember none of it.”

‘Absolutely Fabulous’ actress June Whitfield dies at 93

Dame June Whitfield, known for her work on “Terry and June,” the “Carry On” movies and “Absolutely Fabulous” has died.

The BBC is reporting that Whitfield died on Friday night at 93.

Whitfield’s career touched just about every part of the entertainment industry from early radio comedies, acting in the “Carry On” films, to co-leading the beloved BBC sitcom “Terry and June” that ran from 1979 to 1987. She kept working long into her career even appearing in the 1998 London-based “Friends” episode, the new revamped episodes of “Doctor Who” starring David Tennant and landing a recurring role of Gran/Mother in Jennifer Saunders’ “Absolutely Fabulous.” She also continued to appear on radio, voicing Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple for nine years on the BBC Radio 4.

When Whitfield was appointed with the honor of damehood at the age of 92, Charles, Prince of Wales told her this celebration had been “some time coming.” He wasn’t the only royal fan of Whitfield. Her Majesty the Queen once did an impression for Whitfield mimicking the actresses’ voice from the 1953 radio comedy “Take It From Here.”

Angelina Jolie not ruling out political career

Angelina Jolie hinted Friday that she might enter politics – and even seek the White House.

“If you asked me 20 years ago, I would’ve laughed… I always say I’ll go where I’m needed, I don’t know if I’m fit for politics… but then I’ve also joked that I don’t know if I have a skeleton left in my closet,” the 43-year-old Hollywood actress said in an interview with the BBC’s “Today.”

“I am pretty open and out there. I can take a lot on the chin. That’s good. I honestly will do whatever I think can really make change,” she told host Justin Webb.

The California-born humanitarian and special envoy the UN Refugee Agency discussed a wide range of issues, including social media, sexual violence and the global refugee crisis – but also waded into politics.

“Right now I am able to work with a UN agency to do a lot of work directly with people in need,” she said.

“I’m also able to work with governments and I’m also able to work with militaries, and so I sit in a very interesting place of being able to get a lot done without a title and without it being about myself or my policies,” she continued.

Jolie added that “for now,” she would stay quiet.

That comment prompted Webb to press her on whether she could be on the list for the Democrats’ next presidential nomination, she coyly replied: “Thank you.”

And when asked about the rise of nationalism under President Trump and his pursuit of an “America First” agenda, Jolie drew a distinction between patriotism and “narrow nationalism.”

“I am a patriot but I am also an internationalist and I love and value other people and other countries,” she said.

“To be a patriot is to be very proud of your country and even your country first but you do not think your country is better than others.”

Chris Brown hit with criminal charges for pet monkey

Monkeys shouldn’t be pets, says the city of Los Angeles. Singer Chris Brown will be walking into the new year facing criminal charges: two counts of having a restricted species without a permit, reports TMZ. Brown, 29, sparked controversy when he brought home a baby capuchin monkey named Fiji in the fall of 2017. He swiftly drew criticism after posting an adorable video of his daughter, Royalty, then just 3, with the monkey. Brown fought back against naysayers crying out for the girl’s safety. He claimed the monkey wasn’t for her but was his pet. As a response to the outcry, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife launched an investigation. Before the situation could get out of control, Brown gave up the monkey. It’s unclear where Fiji now lives. If convicted, Brown could face up to six months in jail. He’s set to appear in court on February 6. />Monkeys shouldn’t be pets, says the city of Los Angeles.
