To the surprise of absolutely no one, the L.A. Coroner’s office announced today that actor Brad Renfro died of an accidental heroin overdose.

From everything I hear, this kid worked his ass off trying to get sober. Sometimes it just doesn’t stick, you guys.

  • I’m pretty sure I heard that right before he died Brad Renfro got a tattoo that said ‘fuck all y’all’ on his neck. I’m assuming that it wasn’t a tribute to Tupac, so I find the ‘accidental’ ruling dubious, despite word that Brad had tried valiantly to quit chasing the dragon.

Still, sad and tragic, of course. RIP Brad Renfro.

  • There were dark secrets this guy was unable to deal with sober and kept all the way to the grave. I feel horrible for his family. I hope the “men” who caused this feel the guilt. There ARE people who STILL know what you did to Brad.

  • I don’t believe in this sort of “accident”
    but one thing I believe
once you try drugs and really enjoy them
you have a big problem for the rest of your life

  • If what has been said about him actually being able to lay of the smack and clean up for awhile is true, then his death may have actually been an “accident” afterall.

While he was clean his tolerance level would have dropped. By using the same amount of Heroin he was using before he got clean (when his tolerance was higher), his body would no longer be able to process that level of heroin, causing the overdose.

Many times when people OD it is because of this sort of situation. It is so unfortunate. They automatically use about the same amount they were using before they got clean. It’s what they know.

I just pray that these tragic celebrity deaths serve as a warning that can save other addicts so that their pain and suffering is not in vain.

  • Melissa, let’s just say when he was getting started, he got mixed in with a group of established entertainers that deserve to go to hell. They have a pattern of abhorrent behavior.
