Hope Solo arrested for domestic violence

The last we heard from Hope Solo, she was getting bitch-slapped by Maksim Chmerkovskiy on Dancing with the Stars. Well, now it seems the shoe is on the other foot and Hope is the one doing the slapping, as she was arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning for domestic violence against her sister and 17-year-old nephew. Whaaaaat?

From The Seattle Times:

Kirkland police have released the following account of the incident and arrest:

On June 21st 2014 and just before 1:00 am, Kirkland Police Department Patrol Units responded to a 911 call of a disturbance in the 10600 block of 124th AVE NE. The male caller stated that a female at the residence was “hitting people” and they could not get her to stop or to leave the house. Officer arrived and immediately heard the sounds of the disturbance inside the residence.

They entered and contacted several persons; one being Hope A Stevens (Solo) who appeared intoxicated and upset. As officers made contact, they observed visible injuries on Solo’s 17-year-old nephew and on Solo’s sister. After receiving statements of the persons involved, Officers determined that Solo was the primary aggressor and had instigated the assault.

Solo was arrested on 2 counts of Domestic Violence Assault 4th Degree and booked into the south King County detention facility (SCORE). Solo will have a mandatory court appearance Monday June 23rd at the Kirkland Municipal Court, with the time yet to be determined.

The Seattle Reign FC released a statement on the overnight arrest of the team’s goalkeeper, Hope Solo: “We are aware of the situation regarding Hope Solo and are currently gathering information. We have no further comments at this time.”

U.S. Soccer released a statement, too: “We are aware of the situation. At this point, we don’t have any further comments.”

Damn, what the hell? I know alcohol makes people get wild in various ways, and we’ve all heard (or possibly experienced?) drunk people getting violent, and it’s just not cool. I’m sure Hope feels awful now that she’s had time to sober up and consider what she did, but I think it’s a good idea if the woman never touches alcohol again. What the law should do beyond that I’m not quite sure – I suppose it’s up to whether or not her sister and nephew decide to press charges (which they most likely won’t want to do). What a nightmare – hopefully she gets some serious help.

  • She’s an out of control entitled ill-mannered, ill-tempered partier. I hope she gets fired and has to spend her life earning through the creative use of a brass pole and ping pong balls in some seedy club in So Ko.
