Michael Bublé Creates Controversy On Instagram

Michael Bublé has to be the most harmless, least offensive celebrity ever, which is why it’s so surprising that he’s created a controversy on Instagram. The new dad posted a photo on his Instagram account that his wife took, and it depicts Bublé making a Jim Halpert-like face into the camera because in the background is a woman wearing very short shorts:

Fans called him out for being, basically, creepy and/or a jerk, and accusing him of shaming the woman for her choice of attire. Here’s one comment that breaks down the controversy pretty well:

No permission to take it… Why is there an incessant need to comment on female body parts in social media?@michaelbuble you are simply perpetuating this by posting such a ridiculous & pointless photo. If you & your wife are ever blessed with a daughter & a guy did this to her – how would you feel? No big deal? Only my daughter in shorts on a stranger’s social media page? Your apology is not honest, it shows you aren’t remorseful, you’re only paying lipservice to fans or potential fans to limit damage control. Be the gentleman you like to appear to be & issue an honest one instead. This photo is insulting/degrading to women & if you stop to think about it you will admit it to yourself.#degradingtowomennormalisedyetagain

Others called him “hilarious.”

Bublé responded to the backlash, posting on Facebook,

Anybody who knows me would never misinterpret the message of the photo my wife took in Miami that seems to have caused unexpected rage by some people. I do not court controversy. But I realize that a photo that was meant to be complimentary and lighthearted has turned into a questionable issue. For the record, It hurts me deeply that anyone would think that I would disrespect women or be insulting to any human being.. I was not brought up that way and it is not in my character. I regret that there are people out there who found the photo offensive. That was not and is not my intention. Women are to be celebrated, loved, respected, honored and revered. I’ve spent my life believing that and will continue to do so.

Okay, some thoughts:

  1. “Anybody who knows me” is the worst way to start an apology. We don’t know you, Mr. Bublé, and it’s a total copout. So is saying, “I regret that there are people out there who found the photo offensive”, which is like saying, “Sorry you got upset” instead of saying, “Sorry I upset you.” So as an apology, this totally fails.
  2. I don’t think he meant disrespect (and certainly didn’t mean to make this mess), but that doesn’t make it any less creepy, which is what I think this is — totally creepy. If some non-famous dude did the same thing, most peoples’ reactions would be something like, “Eww, what a creeper.”
  3. It’s really not okay to take photos of people solely to mock them. That’s like basic kindergarten stuff.

Anyway, those are just my thoughts. What do you guys think?

Best And Worst Celebrity Looks Of The Week

Lily Allen got some colorful new hair. Hell yes or God no?

Lily Allen got some colorful new hair. Hell yes or God no?

How’s everybody been doing? To be honest, I’ve had a pretty bummer week. So I figure it’s time for some levity with another round of Best and Worst Celebrity Looks of the Week! Nothing cheers me up like looking at celeb fashion and ragging on it, when necessary. I do hope you’ll join me.

Y’all know the drill, right? Go through the photos and make your picks for who has the BESTWORST, and most WTF look of the week! And then look at yourself in the mirror and sadly sing “Wonderwall” while you cut your own bangs, tears rolling down your cheeks. I mean, what?

Carmen Electra at her 43rd birthday party. She doesn’t look 43. She also doesn’t look human. I like the sparkly minidress, though. Good call on that one.

Is Bruce Jenner’s Interview With Diane Sawyer Just One Big Hoax?

bruce jenner diane sawyer

ABC has been going nuts releasing “teasers” for Bruce Jenner‘s upcoming big interview with Diane Sawyer. We’re all under the assumption that this 2-hour special is about Big News. Mainly, the big news that Bruce is planning to officially undergo a sex change and begin living as a woman. But is that the case? Could this whole thing actually be one big hoax and see Bruce just discussing his big “life change” as in life after divorce from Kris Jenner? Some people seem to think so.

From KQED:

The family has not publicly commented on Bruce allegedly being trans, but, earlier this year, Kim had this to say, when asked about her stepfather: “I think everyone goes through things in life, and I think that story and what Bruce is going through, I think he’ll share whenever the time is right. I feel like that’s his journey to talk about.”

So, either she means what she says about his supposed transition not being her story to tell…or — and I really hope it isn’t this or — she is teasing around the issue, using terminology that could be applied to a transition, but actually is about something mundane like his transition from being married for 24 years to being single in his 60s.

All our questions will be answered when the much-hyped interview with Diane Sawyer airs on April 24, 2015. The promos tease: “The  Journey, The Decisions, The Future.” And Jenner is quoted as saying: “My whole life has been getting me ready for this.” Again, words that could be about being trans, but are not specific enough to get anyone in trouble if this all turns out to be a ratings ploy. It’s not their fault we assumed they were talking about being trans, right? No one ever said anything explicitly about that.

I mean, it brings up a good point – we are all just assuming that’s what he’s going to talk about in this interview, but they have all been quite coy about it…

Then again, there’s no way ABC is going to shell out the cash and resources to air a 2 hour special about Bruce Jenner adjusting to single life after getting divorced, so I’m still waiting to see him talk about being transgender. Not that he should have to do it at all, let alone in an ABC News special, but here we are.

Gwyneth Paltrow Fails At Being Poor, But Gives Herself C- Anyway

gwyneth paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow recently took on a challenge to live on the $29 weekly supplemental food assistance that many Americans receive to feed their families. She wanted to raise awareness about poor people in the US and thought it’d be a fun experiment to spend her own $29 on a dozen eggs, 7 limes and other shit that is not realistic whatsoever for the millions of families that actually utilize the SNAP program. But whatever! It’s not like she was ever going to stick to it anyway!

In a piece written for her decidedly not poor lifestyle site, Goop, Gwyn gave herself a hearty C- on the challenge, despite the fact that she quit four days in – an option I think is obvious is not available to the people actually living like this. But it’s not about Gwyneth! I mean, after all, she donated a whole lot of money to the Food Bank For New York City! What more do you people want?!

Dubious that I could complete the week, I donated to the Food Bank at the outset, and all of us at the goop office began the challenge. As I suspected, we only made it through about four days, when I personally broke and had some chicken and fresh vegetables (and in full transparency, half a bag of black licorice). My perspective has been forever altered by how difficult it was to eat wholesome, nutritious food on that budget, even for just a few days—a challenge that 47 million Americans face every day, week, and year. A few takeaways from the week were that vegetarian staples liked dried beans and rice go a long way—and we were able to come up with a few recipes on a super tight budget.

After trying to complete this challenge (I would give myself a C-), I am even more outraged that there is still not equal pay in the workplace. Sorry to go on a tangent, but many hardworking mothers are being asked to do the impossible: Feed their families on a budget which can only support food businesses that provide low-quality food. The food system in our beautiful country needs to be subjected to a heavy revision—it is a cyclical problem, with repercussions that we all feel. I’m not suggesting everyone eat organic food from some high horse in the sky. I’m saying everyone should be able to afford fresh, real food. And if women were paid an equal wage, families might have more of a choice in the grocery aisles, not to mention in the rest of their lives.

She then goes on an entire tangent about how this is really about women making more and how that would solve all the hunger problems in this country. Because, you know, every mother has got a job to begin with. And only women are head of households – it’s not like there are any single dads out there or anything who could also be struggling and need help. If she ever wanted to prove more than ever just how out of touch she is, this was a great exercise in doing just that.

The ‘Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens’ Trailer Is Here

star wars episode 7

I’m going to say something that may shock you: I’ve never seen a single href="" target="_blank">Star Wars movie. Not the old ones, not the new ones – none of ‘em. I’m into scifi and all that, was obsessed with Star Trek as a geeky pre-teen, idolized Dana Scully, loved Doctor Who, etc. But Star Wars, I just couldn’t get into. So it’s not all that exciting for me that the trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens is here, but I know it is for a lot of people, so here we are. You ready for this?

So what do you think? Are you excited for the movie? Will you go see it?

Kim Richards Got Arrested After A Drunken Confrontation With A Police Officer

kim richards

Ah, this is a bit of refreshing news! It seems that Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards went and got herself arrested on Thursday after a druken confrontation with a police officer, which we all know is a big no-no. Here’s US Weekly‘s synopsis of how it all went down:

According to Beverly Hills Police Department spokesman Lt. Lincoln Hoshino, Richards, 50, appeared to have “had too much to drink and was disturbing some of the other patrons” in the hotel’s restaurant. The troubled reality star was asked to leave by hotel security but refused. Upon finally agreeing to leave, Richards entered the hotel’s bathroom where she then refused to come out of the restroom.

“Hotel security requested to make a Private Persons Arrest and BHPD officers entered the restroom and took her into custody,” Hoshino tells Us. “She was passively resisting and she was taken into custody on Private Person Arrest.” While being booked at the Beverly Hills Police station, Richards kicked an officer.

Ha! Obviously her money will get her off, but it’s a shame to see her relapse from last season has continued and she’s such a mess.

She’s due back in court on May 10th and faces charges of public intoxication, trespassing, resisting arrest, and battery on a police officer. Quite a rap sheet.

Kelly Osbourne “Is Dead To Guiliana Rancic”, Apparently

giuliana rancic kelly osbourne

Giuliana Rancic and Kelly Osbourne may have spent a fair few seasons on E!’s Fashion Police together, but that doesn’t mean they were friends. In fact, it’s actually the exact opposite: they hate each other’s guts. It’s so bad, apparently Kelly is now dead to Giuliana after this whole blow-up over the racist bullshit Giuliana pulled over Zendaya’s Oscars dress a few months ago.

From US Weekly:

Sources reveal in the new issue of Us Weekly that Giuliana Rancic believes her former friend and Fashion Police co-host Kelly Osbourne didn’t have her back after she made controversial on-air remarks about Disney star Zendaya Coleman — and she’s still fuming. Says an insider: “Kelly is dead to Giuliana.”

Well, I’m sure Kelly’s crying herself to sleep at night because Giuliana Rancic isn’t her friend anymore. Boo hoo.
