Scarlett Johansson Divorced Ryan Reynolds Because Marriage “Takes Work”

scarlett johansson parade

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds were only married for a little less than three years (2008 to 2011), and they’ve both since moved on with different partners, had babies, yada yada. But for a while there, they were kind of an “It Couple” in Hollywood, and a lot of people just couldn’t understand why they broke up, for some reason. If you’re one of those people, you’re in luck! Scarlett has finally sorta kinda alluded to her relationship with Ryan, though not really directly or in any way that’ll tell you anything important.

From Parade:

“Acting is a very strange world to be co-existing in,” the Lucy star told the magazine. “It’s very volatile. There’s always going to be the more successful person. It’s related to rejection. Because actors, if they’re not having success, connect it directly to unpopularity — to the fact that nobody wants them.”

“[Marriage] takes a lot of work. It takes a man who’s not only confident in the love that you have for one another, but confident in what he has going on in his own career. He has to be in a field that’s completely different from yours,” she explained to Parade.

Well, duh. This is why most Hollywood marriages fail. Egos get in the way, jealousy springs up and it’s all a mess. This was never going to work out, but hey, that’s all right. They both seem to be doing just fine without each other.

Bruce Jenner Comes Out As A Woman During Diane Sawyer Interview

bruce jenner

After months and months of speculation (and seemingly endless weeks of promotion), Bruce Jenner came out as a woman during his 2-hour sit down interview with Diane Sawyer on Friday night. During the broadcast, he admitted that he found it difficult to talk about his true identity as he didn’t want to hurt anyone, and admitted he briefly considered suicide but ultimately decided not to, as he wanted to see how his story would end.

For now, he’s asked people to continue using “he” pronouns (hence the reason I haven’t switched to she), but either way, I think this was a really brave and important thing for Bruce to have done. Here’s how he describes his experience:

God’s looking down, making little Bruce. He’s looking down and he says, “Okay, what are we going to do with this one?” Make him a smart kid, very determined, and he gave me all these wonderful qualities. And then at the end when he’s just finishing, he goes, “Wait a second, we gotta give him something. Everybody has stuff in their life that they have to deal with, what are we going to give him?” And God looks down and chuckles a bit and goes, “Hey let’s give him the soul of a female and let’s see how he deals with that.”

So here I am stuck, and I hate that word a girl stuck in a guy’s body. I hate that terminology. I’m me. I’m me. I’m a person. This is who I am. I’m not stuck in anybody’s body, it’s just who I am as a human being. My brain is much more female than it is male. It’s hard for people to understand that but that’s what my soul is.

I look at it this way. Bruce always telling a lie. He’s lived a lie his whole life about who he is. And I can’t do that any longer.

Good for him, and best of luck.

Native Americans Have Had Enough Of Adam Sandler’s New Movie

adam sandlerWe can all agree that Adam Sandler seriously blows, right? It wasn’t always the case. He was funny in his day. He wasn’t my cup of tea, but I can recognize various forms of comedy and recognize talent when I see it. However, in the past 10 years or so, Sandler has gone so far downhill that the hill is no longer in sight and he must’ve fallen straight through to the center of the earth. It’s bad. Come on – Jack and Jill? Grown Ups? Don’t Mess with the Zohan? I could keep going but I think you get my point. The situation is not good – especially now that he’s managed to piss off the Native American community with his new travesty, The Ridiculous Six.

From TMZ:

The movie is called “The Ridiculous Six” and is being produced just for Netflix. It’s described as a spoof on “The Magnificent Seven” … starring Sandler, Nick Nolte, Steve Buscemi, Dan Aykroyd, Jon Lovitz and Vanilla Ice.

But the spoofing went too far Wednesday, in the eyes of a dozen actors and actresses who walked off the set. Some of the offending jokes included female characters named Beaver’s Breath and No Bra — and a scene where an Apache woman urinates outdoors while smoking a peace pipe.

Netflix is defending the Sandler flick, saying it’s all a joke. A Netflix rep tells TMZ, “The movie has ridiculous in the title for a reason: because it is ridiculous.” The rep says it’s intended to be a satire of Westerns and the stereotypes popularized in the genre.

The rep adds … the diverse cast “is not only part of — but in on — the joke.”

This wasn’t the first day of filming. In fact, Loren Anthony — one of the pissed actors had previously tweeted how much he was enjoying the project. But after today’s walk out he said, “Today work was no bueno, my native women were disrespected and i walked off set.”

Uh… yikes. Nothing like a bunch of white bros lampooning another culture and not listening to ACTUAL native people when it comes to knowing when they’ve gone too far. This whole thing is going to be a mess, anyway. What the hell is Buscemi thinking being involved with this bullshit? Shut it down!

Bruce Jenner On Gender Transition: ‘I Want To Know How This Story Ends’

bruce jenner diane sawyer

Is ABC not ranking in the ratings, like, ever or something? They’ve been pushing this Diane Sawyer 2-hour sitdown with Bruce Jenner so hard for the past couple of weeks, and thankfully the damn thing is on tomorrow night so we can stop hearing about it. In the latest promo, Bruce says the phrase “I want to know how this story ends” and frankly, so do I. Tell me, so I can stop reading these cryptic damn stories every day. If the “story” he’s referring to isn’t about his gender change, I swear…

Not like Bruce is personally putting these promos together, but with all this attention whoring, I feel like he learned more than we gave him credit for during his time in the Kardashian family.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Shocker Sends Fans Into Frenzy

mcdreamy RIP

I feel like they’ve been saying it’s the last season of Grey’s Anatomy for, like, the last 5 years, and yet here we are with the show still airing new episodes. THIS is the last season (I think?), and they’re pulling out all the stops to make it shocking and intense and get some old fans that abandoned the show years ago back into the game. Case in point? McDreamy’s dead! HOW CAN THIS BE?!

If you don’t watch the show or didn’t catch this ep, here’s how it all went down: Dr. Shepherd heroically saved the lives of a family in a car accident, only to then be T-boned in an accident himself and seriously injured. Apparently the surgeons working on him were major fuck-ups, so he narrated his own march towards death and then Meredith had to come and pull the plug on him. So long, McDreamy!

Admittedly, I never watched the show – not because I wouldn’t totally love it, but probably because I would. I’d fall into a Grey’s Anatomy k-hole and never get out. Is it worth going back to watch? I know some of you must have been fans over the years, so let me know if it’s worth my time.

Anyway, people are losing their shit over this online and even got the hashtag #RIPMcDreamy trending on Twitter. Sad. In so many ways.

God bless us everyone.

How sad are you about McDreamy's death?

Jeremy Renner And Chris Evans Are Sorry For Calling Black Widow A Slut

chris evans jeremy renner

I’ve never really cared for for Jeremy Renner – he’s always seemed like a complete dick, so this whole thing doesn’t really surprise me. As for Chris Evans, I don’t know who’s really checking for him anyway, so I can’t say whether or not this is particularly out of character. So what’d they do?

In an interview for The Avengers: Age of Ultron with Digital Spy (shouts to DS, my first writing job!), these two dummies were asked a playful question about Black Widow wanting to be in a relationship with both Renner’s Hawkeye and Evans’ Captain America, to which they cracked up into fits of laughter as they explained that Black Widow is “a slut” according to Renner, and “a complete whore” in Evans’ eyes. Keep it classy, guys.

People obviously bugged out about this, because this bullshit language basically needs to be wiped out of our language. Those terms aren’t playful, though they meant it in a playful way. It’s a way to brand women as less than, as trash, to take away their autonomy. And to have men using those words, especially in such a public fashion, is bullshit.

Anyhoo, obviously they’re doing some damage control and had their PR people issue apologies on Thursday:

“Yesterday we were asked about the rumors that Black Widow wanted to be in a relationship with both Hawkeye and Captain America,” Evans said in a statement provided to EW. “We answered in a very juvenile and offensive way that rightfully angered some fans. I regret it and sincerely apologize.”

“I am sorry that this tasteless joke about a fictional character offended anyone,” Renner also said in a statement provided to EW. “It was not meant to be serious in any way. Just poking fun during an exhausting and tedious press tour.”

Okay, anyone notice what an asshole backhanded apology Renner’s is? He had to point out that it was about a fictional character, as if that makes it less offensive, and as if the people who were offended by it were unaware that Black Widow isn’t a real live woman walking the streets.

Look, I’m not saying either of them (well, at least not Evans) made their initial comments to be purposely offensive or because they’re blatant misogynists that hate women. I’m saying that sometimes people don’t understand the effects of what they’re saying until after they’ve said it and they just need to take their foot out of their mouths and say sorry, like Evans did. Renner’s just makes me want to punch him in the mouth more than usual.
