Aaron Carter and Melanie Martin were always breaking up and getting back together. Reports of domestic violence was often to blame. They were also both thought to be taking multiple illicit drugs during their time together.
For those reasons and more, Melanie’s mother had custody of the couples one year old son, Prince.
But since the death of Aaron, Melanie has actively tried to get that decision overruled.
Melanie was in New York on Thursday when she learned the courts had reversed their decision.
The Instagram model was in New York when the decision was made but was contacted by her legal team with the news.
According to Martin’s rep, she is en route to California to retrieve her son and is “extremely happy and eager” to see him.
“I’m honoring Aaron today and I know he would be so proud of me,” Martin told TMZ. “I’m very emotional thinking we could have been a family, but Aaron would be so happy knowing I got him back.”
