Comcast to create British version of SNL

Straight from Deadline.com, there’s news that Comcast, owner of NBC, is going to start an version of Saturday Night Live in the UK.

The Lorne Michaels comedy show is already reproduced in several other places around the world including in China, Germany, Italy and South Korea.

Casting for both talent and crew is underway as we speak but there will be some tweaks.  For instance, it’s believed the show will not air late at night, as it does in the US.

This is no accident.  Last year Sky’s Comedy channel began airing episodes of the American version.  Which until now could only be seen on YouTube.

No word on whether or not the Brit version will be available to US viewers on any platforms, but remember, it’s a US company that will own it, so there would be no rights struggle with bringing it over.
