First, if you’ve never seen the movie ‘Blow’, lets make that a priority. It’s fantastic.
George Jung was a cocaine smuggler who worked closely with Pablo Escobar. Pablo, according to feds, was responsible for 80% of the worlds cocaine in the 1980’s. So why are we honoring a drug smuggler? IDK. Just are.
Jung was the subject of the book “Blow: How a Small-Town Boy Made $100 Million with the Medellin Cocaine Cartel and Lost It All.” He was also famously portrayed by Depp in 2001’s “Blow,” which also starred Penelope Cruz. It’s fantastic.
He served 20 years in prison and was released in 2014, but landed back in prison two years later after violating his parole.
Jung’s cause of death is currently unknown, but TMZ reports that he had recently been experiencing liver and kidney failure.
