Grammy Winners Leak Online, But Academy Says They’re Fake

Monday night a mysterious list, claiming to reveal the 2019 Grammy winners, surfaced online.

According to a video shared on Twitter, the list appeared to come straight from the Recording Academy’s website and showed Cardi B as the winner for record of the year for “I Like It.”

The list also alleged that A Star Is Born‘s Lady Gaga won song of the year for “Shallow.”

The Academy has since addressed the leak, telling PEOPLE, “There is no legitimacy to this.”

“GRAMMY Awards results are not shared, even with Recording Academy staff members, until the day of the GRAMMY Awards ceremony, when names of the recipients are delivered by Deloitte in sealed envelopes.”

In addition to being up for record of the year, Cardi, 26, has also been nominated for Album of the Year for Invasion of Privacy, best rap album, best rap performance for “Be Careful” and best pup/duo/group performance for Maroon 5‘s “Girls Like You.”

Cardi learned of her nominations following a court appearance for her assault and reckless endangerment charges in connection with a fight earlier this year at a strip club in Queens.

“I am?” Cardi questioned the reporter, who told her the news. She then asked, “How many nominations?”

Upon hearing the news, the rapper indulged in a mini celebration by sticking her tongue out and yelling her signature phrase, “Oweee.”

The 61st Grammy Awards will take place at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Sunday, Feb. 10. The telecast will be broadcast live on CBS at 8 p.m. EST.
