TOM PETTY FOUND UNCONSCIOUS IN FULL CARDIAC ARREST

Tom Petty was rushed to the hospital Sunday night after he was found unconscious, not breathing and in full cardiac arrest … law enforcement sources say, according to TMZ.

EMTs rushed to his Malibu home and were able to get a pulse.  He was rushed to the UCLA Santa Monica Hospital and our sources say he was put on life support.

Petty’s condition is unknown but was critical from the moment he was found.

Petty, who became famous with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in 1978 with “Breakdown”, is 66.

We’ve been in touch with numerous people from Petty’s camp and they are clearly upset but not talking.

Petty just wrapped a huge tour, ending at the Hollywood Bowl late last Monday.

Story developing.

Update: Tom Petty had no signs of brain activity and a decision was made to take him off Life Support. RIP to a legendary act, who I’m sure had a legendary life.

Another Update: The death claims have been redacted and Tom Petty is still in hospital with family, no official statements have been made, but his daughter did have some words for Rolling Stone Magazine.

One last, very sad update: Petty’s longtime manager confirmed the singer’s. “On behalf of the Tom Petty family we are devastated to announce the untimely death of our father, husband, brother, leader, and friend Tom Petty. He suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu in the early hours of this morning and was taken to UCLA Medical Center but could not be revived. He died peacefully at 8:40 p.m. PT surrounded by family, his bandmates, and friends.”

That concludes the life of a brilliant performer.
