During a recent appearance on Chelsea Handler’s talk show Chelsea, Williams, 27, revealed that she took it day by day following her father’s 2014 suicide.

“I just kept going, ‘OK, well today I’m going to wake up and love what I do. And then tomorrow I’m going to wake up and be happy and love what I do. And then the next day,” she said. “Because that’s all you can do.”

While she tried to stay positive following the tragedy, Zelda did notice a change in the way others treated her, sharing that everyone continuously asked her if she was okay or if something was wrong, which made her feel “kind of left to my own devices.”

Zelda funneled her pain into writing scripts and says she wrote as many as 17 over the 2 year period.  She’s also an actress. Her most recent roles include a transgender character in Dead of Summer and a kidnapper in Girl in the Box.
