It seems like Ben Affleck certainly did a number on Jennifer Garner during their 10 years of marriage, because now that they’re split up, she’s pretty much sworn of dating or getting in any other relationships for the forseeable future. She’s basically just taking some much-needed time for herself, and I can’t say I blame her, if the stories about what a prick Ben is are true (and let’s be real, they probably are).
“Jen is doing well,” a source close to the family tells PEOPLE. “She’s still adjusting to a new normal, but seems more accepting of the separation.”
While the source notes that Garner is “taking a little bit more time to herself” and “seems less stressed,” moving forward with her love life is not a top priority at the moment.
“She can’t even imagine dating,” the source says, adding that “it will probably be a long time before she is able to move on romantically.”
At the end of the day, the most important thing here is the kids. They need to be kept away from dysfunctional bullshit as much as possible, so it’s good that they’ve been playing it cool for the little ones’ sake. They apparently hung out together last weekend as a family, which probably meant a lot to the kids, so good for her for even being able to deal with the sight of him.
A woman in her 40s with multiple kids isn’t going to have an easy time getting dates, no matter who she is and what she looks like.
I never understand how NOT dating right away after a split is newsworthy. I’m always surprised at how many people just jump right in to something else. She was married to the guy for 10 years! And they’re not even divorced yet! Why would anyone even ASK her about dating at this point?
