Emily Blunt is married to an American and is now American herself, having recently naturalized, so it’s pretty safe to say that she’s into the US and its culture and people. However, she’s not all that into conservative Republicans, and she made a joke about that recently, claiming that the group gave her pause when she was deciding to become an American citizen. It was funny, but not to the anchors on Fox & Friends, who tried to get all patriotic in the dumbest possible way and told her to go back to England. Now, Emily’s been forced to apologize and clarify her comments because conservatives have no sense of humor or common sense.
The Sicario actress appeared on the Today show on Thursday and apologized for her verbal gaffe.
“It was so not the intention to hurt anybody or cause any offense, so I really apologize to those that I caused offense,” she said. “It was just an offhand joke. I think I’ll probably leave the political jokes to late night or something.”
How dare any of you make the queen descend from her throne to address this bullshit. That’s just ridiculous that she even had to say any of that. If that’s the biggest thing conservatives have to be offended by, it’s even more clear that they’re not paying attention to the world around them, that’s for sure.
Love you, Emily.
