I’m not someone who really fears getting older – I mean, I guess it sucks to think about losing mobility and stuff, but generally, I don’t give a shit about wrinkles or grey hair or anything like that. Bring it on, I say! And yeah, I’m someone who believes that the wisdom that comes with age is worth it, and is the sign of a life well lived. There’s someone who disagrees with me, though, and frankly, she’s the authority. Judi Dench hates being old, y’all.
Here’s what she told People:
“There’s nothing good about being my age,” she says with a smile. “Someone said to me, ‘You have such a wealth of knowledge,’ and I just said ‘I’d rather be young and know nothing, actually.’ Bugger the wealth of knowledge.”
Well, shit – I guess you’ve gotta love her honesty. And sure, there are a lot of shitty things about aging. But listen, just because she’s getting up there in years doesn’t mean she’ll be retiring anytime soon.
“I don’t think about slowing down,” says Dench, whose husband, actor Michael Williams, passed away in 2001. “So celebrate the things that you can do and also try and do new things. I believe in that tremendously. But in our job, that’s what we have to do all the time.”
Spoken like a true dame.
What about you guys? Are you scared of getting old?
