Iggy Azalea, noted pseudo-southern (by way of Australia) rapper (because she was a failed popstar) and Azealia Banks, noted crazy yet talented artist, have never been friends. Azealia has always taken issue with Iggy’s appropriation of black culture – and presumably her lack of any recognizable talent – and Iggy has always sorta cowered in the corner when Azealia comes for her and starts preaching peace and unity because she clearly realises there’s no fighting that level of insanity.
Anyhoo, Azealia has gone in on Iggy yet again, this time for Iggy’s lack of outrage over the recent wave of messed up shit happening to black people. The lack of prosecution against Darren Wilson in Ferguson, the failure to indict NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo for choke-holding 43-year-old Eric Garner TO DEATH despite the fact that, among other things, chokeholding is illegal, etc. The list goes on and on. Azealia’s point is that it’s super cool for Iggy to take on all the “cool” parts of black culture but when shit gets real, she stays quiet. Uh oh…

That probably seems harsh, and I really hate to say it, but I kinda see where Azealia’s coming from here with what she’s saying. Iggy is THE WORST. She’s the fakest, most oblivious “rapper” in the game, with no idea about what the culture she’s pretending to be a part of actually means. In fact, at times she’s outright offensive. As a black woman, Azealia is probably pretty sick and tired of seeing white people pretend to be an ally… until the going gets tough, then it’s a different story.

This whole thing is a mess. Yes, Azealia Banks can definitely be a “troll”, and she wastes a lot of her energy on social media trying to snatch the proverbial wig from people she doesn’t like, but you can’t discount her on this one just because you don’t like what she’s saying. I don’t think fighting about shit on Twitter does anything to change the world in any way by any means, but I have to say I’m with Azealia on this one.
Azealia dragged Igloo, she scalped her, she shanked her!! It was glorious and I had my hands up in the air saying “GO INNNNN”… until she defended Bill Cosby.
HA! I know. This is what happens when you give Azealia too much attention… she then unleashes the ugly side of the crazy again. I was all for it, then I saw the cosby stuff and was like, NOOOOOOO….
