34Kelly Osbourne and Lady Gaga are Fighting on the Internet

So Lady Gaga went out and picked a big, throbbing bone with Kelly Osbourne, trashing her for her position on ‘Fashion Police’ and didn’t even do it in a private manner—she went and posted a super passive-aggressive open letter to Kelly on her website, Little Monsters. Here’s the letter that Lady Gaga penned:

Open Letter to Kelly Osbourne

Dear Kelly, While I wish you had reached out to me personally, as the head of the Born This Way foundation with my mother Cynthia we would like to respond. Everyday, through my music and public voice I choose to be positive and work towards a kinder and braver world with our community of followers. I encourage them to ignore criticism, stand up to bullies, know their own value and see that we are all the same and no one person is worth more than another. I know I’m perceived as a wild child, but in reality I am woman that deeply cares for humanity. I have empathy for you Kelly, but I feel it culturally important to note that you have chosen a less compassionate path. Your work on E! with the Fashion Police is rooted in criticism, judgment, and rating people’s beauty against one another. “Appearance” is the most used reason for bullying in the world. Your show breeds negativity, and over the years has even become comedic in nature. It glorifies you and Joan Rivers pointing in the camera, laughing, and making jokes about artists and celebrities as if we are zoo animals. What about your body revolution? It used to make me truly sad when I would hear people talk about your weight when you were younger, as I was bullied too. To see you blossoming into a beautiful slender woman who makes fun of others for a living is astounding. Why not help others? Why not defend others who are bullied for their image and share your story? I am pointing this out not to take a crack at your character, as we’ve met before and you’re lovely. However, I urge you to take responsibility and accountability for the example that you are setting for young people. They look up to you because you are famous, and if you treat others that way on TV, many adolescents at home on twitter assume your actions are acceptable: well if she does it, why can’t I? I cannot control my fans, and I discourage them from any negativity and violence, because that is wrong and hurtful — and I do feel baldy that your feelings were hurt. However, we can all do our part in the media to set a standard of respect, compassion, and love. I wish for you to be treated with the kindness and respect that everyone deserves. While some of my fans have learning to do, most of them share the same values as I, and it’s what bonds us together. And that bond is strong. Sincerely Gaga and Cynthia www.bornthiswayfoundation.org PS. And to any media or celebrities that happen to find this letter in their path, I hope you, too, consider the power of your voices. Lets work together and make 2013 a year of unity.

Burn, right? I mean, I kind of dislike Kelly Osbourne as much as the next person, but you know what? Kelly Osbourne is Kelly Osbourne and it’s no different than Lady Gaga being Lady Gaga. And speaking of Kelly? Here’s her mom’s response, and if you know one thing, it’s that Sharon Osbourne doesn’t mince words when it comes to standing up for what she believes in:

Ms. Gaga,

I am responding to your open letter to my daughter Kelly, and I am perplexed as to why you would go public with an open letter. Regarding this current situation; Kelly didn’t contact you, I was the one that contacted your manager today and the email is attached below for your reference. I reached out to him as Kelly’s manager and mother to ask him if you could address your “little monster” fans and stop them from writing libelous, slanderous and vile comments about my family, including death threats to Kelly. Your open letter is hypocritical and full of contradictions. And as your mother Cynthia supports you, I support my daughter Kelly. I must say your opinions on what is politically correct and acceptable totally differ from mine, but that is what makes the world so interesting…we are all different. How sweet that you have empathy for my daughter, as you feel that she has taken a less passionate path in life. You say her work on E! with the Fashion Police is “rooted in criticism, judgment, and rating people’s beauty against one another.” Welcome to the real world. Example, when I saw you wear a dress made out of raw meat, I was sickened. When I see you wearing fur, and using it as a fashion statement, the fact that defenseless animals have been killed so you can get your picture in the press is abhorrent to me. Shouldn’t you be teaching your “little monster” fans to respect animals and life? I don’t feel I have to justify Kelly’s choices in life to you. By your actions to Kelly right now, you have shown me that you are nothing more than a publicly seeking hypocrite and an attention seeker. You know it would have been much more dignified of you to do this privately. I am calling you a bully because you have 32 million followers hanging on your every word and you are criticizing Kelly in your open letter. Are you so desperate that you needed to make this public?

You state “Everyday, through my music and public voice I choose to be positive and work towards a kinder and braver world with our community of followers.” Well this obviously is not translating well to your fans, as a large portion of them have not only been vile to Kelly, but also other celebrities such as Madonna, Adele and Rihanna. “You say a kinder, braver world” I don’t know what world you live in, but supporting disgraceful fan comments doesn’t fall under the words “kinder and braver.” It comes under the heading of bullshit.

In closing, stop wearing fur, stop looking for publicity, and stop using your fans to belittle not just Kelly but an endless stream of celebrities. A word from you would stop all the hideous, negative and vile threats from your “little monsters.” Let me know if you want to continue this debate. I’m an open playing field for you my darling.

Sincerely,
Sharon Osbourne

Can I go ahead and say that I’m completely on board with what Sharon Osbourne had to say? Because I’m completely on board with what Sharon Osbourne had to say.

Thoughts? Team Gaga or Team Osbourne?

Go Sharon! Gaga is a fucking idiot, who tries to come off as some sort of anti bullying preacher! Only ever looking for publicity. Meat dress…..faaaack. Oh and let’s not forget the tea cup while in England, right? Pretentious cow.

  2. Junebug says:

Can’t stand either one..put them both in a ring and let them duke it out…

  3. lana says:

Not team Kelly or Gaga. Team Mother Osbourne FTW! I agree a bit with Gaga when she says Kelly is complaining about being bullied while talk sh about others appearance on tv. I agree a bit with Sharon calling Gaga a hypocrite for instead of telling her fans to stop bullying anybody, she chose to write a public letter telling Kelly what she doesn’t like about her. But I totally dig Sharon’s mother’s instinct to defend her daughter and calling Gaga an atentionwh0re while doing so.

  4. Stacey says:

I’d have to say both ladies have points, here.

The show Kelly is on does poke fun at people and their outfits. I don’t agree with that type of public humiliation, either.

But…Sharon also has a point. Lady GaGa can hardly point out the faults in what other people are doing when she is, in essence, condoning the same nasty behavior by ignoring her fan base’s actions and words towards others.

    • anja says:

      Couldn’t agree more.

PS. Shows like Fashion Police are basically based on bullying and negativity and someone who’s been bullied in his life SHOULD know better.

  5. mireee says:

Exactly what Stacey says. They both have points here. And, since I like none of them, I’ll just get the popcorn and watch.

  6. Karina says:

I’m a Gaga fan, but I have to agree that both of them are right. What Gaga says is true, Fashion Police pisses me off. And we all know how fake is Gaga, and I don’t know but I think almost every celebrity is fake.
I think it’s part of a publicity all this. And honestly, I’m really tired of all those “dramas” on the internet. I wish they could just get into their music and do their job, and if they have a problem with someone then face them, not going to any social media and make it public, that’s totally annoying. But well, that’s my opinion.

  7. Sam says:

Team Sharon. She makes a good point.

  8. Peebo1184 says:

I’m confused as to why she picked out Kelly Osbourne. There are at least three other people on Fashion Police. And all of them do the exact same thing.

That said – team Mother Obsourne!!

  9. Furst off, I’m quite impressed with how well versed those ladies are.

While Fasion Police is bullshit, and even though i believe that we are often obnoxiously judgmental when we favor some type of appearances over others, I think Gaga put her own foot in her mouth this time. She does contradict herself – all this self righteous talk about knowing ones own value apparently doesn’t stop her from wearing fur. This truly enrage me. Wearing fur is gross, cruel, and backwards.

Yes, celebrities could use their influence and fame much better – oh the things they could really achieve with their fame and money and power – but you have to expect people to do as you do, not as you say :)

I liked Gaga’s music much better when she was just a pop star. Catchy tunes, good old-fashioned quirky fun. Going all crazy on people however is inevitable once you get so big, you think that anything is now allowed. The gates of hell suddenly open and all the coocoo spills out. Gaga flooded the scene with sperm and blood fragrances, morbid imagery, pseudo-artistic performances and downright dumb fashion statements, and then blames people for not being able to get her positive message through all the crap. Well, duh.

As for Kelly, I’m not sure what her talents or occupations actually are. She’s very uninteresting to me. Her Mom is cool, though. After all, she survived both cancer AND being married to Ozzie Ozzborn, and I love how she always says what she thinks.

  10. Chuck says:

They’re both turds from different asses.

  11. TriedTru says:

Ok, I’ve watched Fashion Police and frankly I don’t find it to be bullying. I can also state with absolute certainty that I have never heard Kelly (or Joan Rivers or anyone else on that show) state that someone’s dress was so awful they should be raped or take their own life. Gaga’s “little monsters” have told Kelly (and Adele and Rhianna and other) that they hope she gets raped, that’s she’s fat, and that she should kill herself. This is bullying at it’s most direct and hurtful. There is a clear distinction here.

Furthermore – and this is the part that bothers me most – Gaga is hiding behind the old argument “well, you do it too” which only amplifies my belief that Gaga’s one of the worst bullies out there. She hides behind her “little monsters” who do the dirty work for her but only because she eggs them on. Then when she’s caught, instead of making a public mea culpa or asking her “little monsters” to stop, she in turn pulls out the ol’ “well, you need to be more compassionate because you bully too.” It’s childish and frankly tells me that Gaga is no better than a 7th grader.

Lastly, Sharon should be up for mom of the year because if there’s one thing that woman has proven time and again, you do not mess with her family without reprecussions.

  12. anotherfakeprincess says:

“I choose to be positive and work towards a kinder and braver world with our community of followers.” Bitch, please. She wears meat, she wears fur, she bathes in blood, she puts satanic symbols everywhere on her shows and videos, she tweets “#starsdonteat”, and she calls that being POSTIVE? Everytime I think Lady Gaga couldn’t be more of an attention-seeking hypocrit, she comes up with the next bullshit.

Team Sharon all the way. You go, girl.

  13. gee_gee says:

Ummmmm, DAYUM! I’m calling Sharon next time someone talks shit to me. I mean…just…DAMN!!!

  14. Pique says:

    Thank you Sharon

  15. StephanieMarie says:

Well, I suppose both letters make at least one or two valid points.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but…isn’t the premise of the fashion police that they critique FASHION? As in clothing…as in something that’s selected based on personal opinion, which can be worn or discarded at will? It’s a little different than criticizing someone for their physical appearance such as skin, face, hair, body, etc.
No, the fashion police may not set a great example as it focuses on the outward appearance of someone but it’s only their clothes.

I mean, neither agenda is perfectly good–Gaga could make a statement to her fans about the bullying of fellow celebs (perhaps write an open letter to her little monsters??) and Kelly needs to realize she is on a show which critiques (and applauds at times, too) celebrities clothing choices, but I between you, me and the wall I’d rather have someone say ‘I’m not crazy about your tee shirt selection today’ than make a remark to me about me having an unattractive face/unfortunate body shape/ [insert any comment directed at any of the celebs gaga’s little monsters have railed against.

  16. Webster says:

I’m with Sharon. The meat dress said it all about GaGa for me, not to mention she has to be one of the most unoriginal “artist” out there. Kelly can be very sensitive to criticism about herself(considering what she does on Fashion Police) but rape and death threats are uncalled for by anyone about anybody.

  17. pigo says:

    TEAM SHARON!

  18. fishfry says:

Am I the only one who thinks it’s a little lame that Kelly’s Mom is fighting the battle for her? Of course any parent would have many opinions and choice words for someone who is being rather unpleasant to their child, but I would be pretty darn mad if my parents did what Sharon did. I am an adult, and can fend for and protect myself. Support is all I need from my parents, not for them to be hitmen with words. Kelly is a grown women, and she needs to address this herself.

  19. Angry Pirate says:

    Gaga used “baldy” for badly.

She also used lets for let’s in the last sentence.

Both of them used poor reasoning and a lot of logical failures. I’m not going to go through them here.

At least Ms. Osbourne had more than one paragraph. (Holy crap.)

I do not know this show “Fashion Police”. However, from the name I would suspect that it picks on people for their style of dress. Sarah (I think) did that above with Karcrapian’s style.

In any event, Gaga’s fans (just like any large group of people) contain people that are a little off-kilter. She actually CAN’T control them. They’re fans not servants.

I happen to like Gaga, Kelly, AND Sharon Osbourne. I think they’re all good to go.

Sharon (as mom) is going to have to take up for Kelly, especially when she’s the “cause”. (As told in the first block-of-death.)

I find it odd that Osbourne picked on Gaga for fur when Sharon rid her closets in 2004 of all HER furs.

Ms. Osbourne is actually pretty smart, though, having built Ozzy herself as a manager. He got tossed out of Black Sabbath (sadly) and she structured his new career. I’d say she was probably MORE to credit/blame for Ozzy’s success than anyone, including him.

Anyway, Gaga is completely constructed. Everything about her career was given to her by others. (Such as Lady Starlight)

  20. pufinstuf says:

GaGa says that people should be kind and not judge others on their appearance. Then she says that she is astounded to see Kelly “blossom into a beautiful slender young woman who makes fun of others for a living.” If becoming “a beautiful slender young woman” is “blossoming” that implies that it is preferable to what Kelly was when she was younger, a/k/a heavy, and that when she was younger and heavier, she was not attractive. Hypocrisy.

    • meh says:

      truth.
that “beautiful slender woman” thing rubbed me the wrong way

    • mireee says:

So true. I noticed that too but I didn’t know how to word it.

      • kimcheee says:

It reveals her TRUE value system…that phrase. She was “proud” of her curves – but didn’t she drop the weight FAST? How “proud” was she, really? Talk is cheap. She’s fake and just trying to be clever and say the right thing at this point. Anyone with eyes to see can see right through her.

  21. It souldn’t have gone this far, that the mom had to step in. Kelly and GaGa they are two young ladies. Sometimes people say the wrong things and they do not really know what they are saying. All i can say let this me an examine for Kelly and GaGa. If you have a compliment just keep it to yourselves, and move on. God bless all of you that are involve in this harassment. Thank You!!!

  22. Nola says:

I agree with both Gaga and Sharon. I am a huge fan of Gaga and despise the show “fashion police”. However, I do feel like lady gaga enjoys seeing her fans bully. I always liked Sharon and she’s such an amazing woman, but aren’t we all hypocrites?! It seems that everyone can mention about gaga’s “monsters” being bullies but what about those who bully gaga? Everytime I just want to enjoy and watch a gaga music video, I always have to come across negative comments AND death threats. People say some of the most vile things to/about gaga. I also felt that gaga had no right to write a letter for the public to see. Even kelly had struggles with her weight. I never really cared about her but I never said cruel things about her. I kinda always liked her punk edgy style. So yeah, I’ll admit both gaga and kelly are being asses!

  23. tony carr says:

dem three woman ya a eediot

  24. Chance says:

Fact: Lady Gaga has talent, albeit rather flamboyant…but still a very talented young lady. However, Kelly is an uneducated slut with a slutty mouth and has NO talent. Her face is a farce…scary to say the least with her Michelle underbite. She also has gross tats all over her body..and her hair is a cartoons delight. The only reason she is on TV is because of her parents….also rather odd and not appealing. Everyone is laughing at her…and she knows she is really a NOTHING!

  25. Both Kelly and Gaga have come a long way, but both were wrong. Kelly didn’t have to open up her mouth and Gaga didn’t have to write a public letter responding to her. And as far as Sharon goes, she needs to stay in her lane. Funny she called Gaga an “attention seeker” yet SHE (Sharon) is the one involving herself in a fight that has nothing to do with her. And who is she, as an Osborne, to call anyone an attention whore? She has got some nerve.

  26. kimcheee says:

“Everyday, through my music and public voice I choose to be positive and work towards a kinder and braver world with our community of followers.”

I can’t stop laughing….she just called her ex-assistant a “ghetto hood rat” and continued on with a tirade of verbally abusive terms and language about her. Talk is cheap! Talk is cheap! This lady doesn’t walk her talk at all, does she?
