It’s not just teenagers that are getting hassled for weed. Willie Nelson was charged with drug possession this morning after 6 ounces of marijuana were found in his tour bus.

Patrol spokesman Bill Brooks says the bus pulled into the Sierra Blanca, Texas, checkpoint about 9 a.m. Friday. Brooks says an officer smelled pot when a door was opened and a search turned up marijuana.
Brooks says the Hudspeth County sheriff was contacted and Nelson was among three people arrested.
Sheriff Arvin West didn’t immediately return a phone message left at his home Friday, but he told the El Paso Times that Nelson claimed the marijuana was his. The singer was held briefly a $2,500 bond before being released.
We JUST talked about this in the Bristol Palin post, but I really don’t think that driving around with some weed is the biggest offense police officers need to be worrying about these days.
However, six ounces is a fuckin’ lot of weed. Like, I’m trying to imagine it in my head, and I feel like six ounces would fill up at least half of a trash bag, if not the whole thing. I’m not pissed about the fact that the weed’s illegal, but tour buses are small. There has to be a better way for Willie to use that space. It’s not like people don’t hand him joints everywhere he goes, right?
I think you’re thinking pounds instead of ounces, b/c 6 ounces is nowhere near a trashbag full. 1 ounce would barely fill a ziplock sandwich baggie. Just sayin’.

Billy Bob Thornton recently went on… was it Leno? Craig Ferguson? (How am I confusing this? Probably Craig, because you know he smokes out) and talked about visiting Willie Nelson’s tour bus. Billy Bob was like, “You know how you go to someone’s house and they have a candy dish, just out on the table for everyone? It’s like that.”
So NO freaking DUH there’s marijuana on Willie Nelson’s tour bus. Total fish in a barrel — the arresting officer is kind of lame.

You’re talking MAYBE 6 sandwich bags, or 3 mason jars if it’s good stuff. Cops have made a point of targeting tour buses in recent years. But who really cares if Willie smokes pot?
This is not the first time he’s been busted for weed in his tour bus.
A decent size joint is about 1 gram so 6 ounces would be about 170 joints. Assuming that it is for several people over a couple weeks of road trip I don’t think it’s an unreasonable amount but I’m sure the cops don’t agree. The “intent to distribute” felony counts usually start at only one ounce.

ya.. people have known for YEARS that willie smokes weed. why he hasnt used his pull as an entertainer and his popularity to help change the laws is a better question…. just a random thought, but worth sharing i think….
Er, saying 6oz of weed will fill a trash bag is same as saying six gallons of wine will fill a jacuzzi.
