Paris Hilton Adopted Twenty Bunny Rabbits

Paris Hilton and 20 bunnies

Bleeding heart and cocaine user Paris Hilton recently did a good thing. Kind of. The pet-loving heiress was in a pet store recently when she learned that the cage of bunnies she was looking at were being sold as snake food. Paris decided right then and there that she’d be taking all the rabbits with her.

Paris wrote the following about her new additions on Twitter:

“The bunnies were meant to be feeders. I saw them at the pet store and they told me they were for snake food and I had to save them.

“I rescued 20 of them. They are now happy living in my backyard. They are all so happy, so nice to have changed their fate.”

I love animals too, ParPar, but you can’t stop the circle of life. Snake owners have to feed their snakes too, and unfortunately, snakes eat mice and bunnies. It’s not their fault that their food of choice is naturally adorable.

Also, let’s not forget that Paris is far from the best pet owner. In a way, the bunnies may have been better off being used for their purpose.

  • Oh and let’s not forget she probably lives in some fancy hills where they can now be consumed by coyotes and mountain lions, or maybe just over zealous tom cats.

  • is no one paying attention to how sweet this is of her? if we all hate paris, fine, great. but that doesn’t mean that what she did for the rabbits isn’t a good thing. saving 20 is better than none, i’d say. but i’m also a vegetarian and love animals. to each his own, i guess :-/

    • What’s being a vegetarian got to do with anything? It’s not like people were going to eat the rabbits.

What a fucking dick. Oh save the bunnies but I don’t care if some ugly snake has to starve. Uhg.

      • Hahaha touche.

Meg you’re just as big of a douche as PH. The fact that you’re bringing up your vegetarian diet to defend PH obviously shows why you are the only one defending her so far.

What’s worse is you’re saying you’re an animal lover but you just totally disregarded the snakes. Don’t you care about them? Or do you only care for the CuUuTe CudDLy WuDdLy wAbBitz LikE PaRis?

Fuckin save some animals that fuckin really need saving. Not fucking ones that actually had a country build a fence to keep out.

But that’s right, of course she’s gonna save her species first, like them, she’s a vermin that should never reproduce.

      • Well i don’t think i really deserved to be called a douche because of my comment. i’m not sorry that i offended you because frankly, that was really bitchy.

PEOPLE ARE VEGETARIANS FOR DIFFERENT REASONS. some for health reasons, because they like animals, etc. i am a vegetarian because i love animals. I CARE ABOUT FUCKING SNAKES AS MUCH AS I CARE ABOUT EVERY OTHER ANIMALS. yes, these rabbits should have been saves from being snake food. but you know what? pet snakes shouldn’t be fucking pets anyways. they don’t do well as pets. they should be released, and learn how to capture prey the natural way. the way it’s suppose to be.

when i see a picture of a live snake eating an animal, it sucks, but hey. that’s nature. keeping a snake in a tank and throwing it rabbits to eat is NOT NATURAL.

have a fucking wonderful day, you’re just as much a douche as i am :)

      • I might have been a huge bitch, but not a douche. However, I will apologise for my aggression, but this bitch pisses me off beyond control.

Fine, you go ahead and praise her, but I will see this as a cry for attention, nothing else.

I mean with all her billions of dollars, why doesn’t she save something more worthy.

And if she really had wanted to “save” them, she could have started a petition for people to stop purchasing rabbits as food for snakes. Her buying all those rabbits just increases the chance of people producing more rabbits as food. They don’t care where the animals go, they’re just there to make a quick buck.

  • I happen to like Paris Hilton — a bit, at least.

This, however, was ridiculous. These rabbits were not going to be put to sleep. They were food. There is hardly a shortage of rabbits in the world. If she wants pet rabbits, that is fine, but it isn’t like she really ‘rescued’ these rabbits. Is she going to rescue crickets that are sold to be food for smaller snakes or pet frogs? Unlikely.

  • As both a python owner and a rabbit owner, I’m torn here. I think her heart was in the right place, but to replace the rabbits she rescued, 20 more cute, cuddly buns will be shipped in the next day and used as snake food. There has to be a limit on the animals you “save…” I don’t want to start the frozen vs live debate on here, but I do believe that pet shops should be advocating the frozen, pre killed diet. It is safer for the snake and much less cruel to the animal.

  • So I am a rabbit owner, and I am a bit torn on this as well. I saved one of my bunnies from being a feeder rabbit (he had been there too long) so that part of it I can understand where she is coming from. The thing that really bothers me about this is that I’m sure that she will just leave them in her back yard and have someone else feeding them, and she will forget all about them. Also, rabbits from a pet store are never spayed/neutered, and if she doesn’t do that she will have 20 more -at least- and then what? Give them to a shelter or just have a real live Watership Down in her back yard?

Rabbits aren’t as easy to take care of as people think either. They require a lot of knowledge about their diet and how to monitor their health, they are delicate little things, and I can’t imagine that they are going to be properly cared for with her. There is a lot more to owning rabbits than just putting them in a backyard and throwing them some lettuce occasionally. That being said, they are lovely house pets when they’re litter box trained.

Ah, I’ll get off of my bleeding heart, rabbity soap box now. This is just too irritating for me to even think about anymore. Sigh.

  • Paris, do you have large birds of prey in your area? Someone should have asked the rabbits if they prefer to be choked quickly, or ripped apart and gutted slow. Also 30 day gestation, 6 per litter average, and females can get knocked up 24 hours after giving birth.. even at $120 per head to neuter and spay it is far cheaper then playing the odds that whoever sexed them was 100% correct with every rabbit.

  • hey evil beet publisher, there is no ” hey thats the circle of life”.snakes dont HAVE to eat rabbits or mice, thats just somethin MAN gave them way back and now we are a custom to it… snakes can eat plants vegtables, eggs, lost of stuff, what an asshole u are to say hey well its circle. Its not a circle of anything. Tigers have mauled humans for meat, hey i guess its the circle of life right? so go put ur famiky in atiger cage n feed em sasha right? hey they gotta eat, ur so stupid

  • What Paris did was great. I can’t understand why you comment that it’s a nice thing she did and then go and say that in a way the bunnies might be better off as snake food, Molls. She did something nice, PERIOD. Screw the snakes.

  • Maybe Paris Hilton doesn’t fit your definition for Bunny-Owner of the Year, yet she can learn! She can go to http://rabbit.org/ and get in touch with the LA Chapter of the House Rabbit Society. She’s given these rabbits a second chance to find homes, at the very least! Rabbits are wonderful, intelligent pets. They aren’t suitable for snake-food. Your “circle-of-life” argument is lame, at best, and sadistic at worst! So Paris did something good – can your tiny, wizened heart accept that and give credit to someone you so obviously dislike and envy?

  • I think what she did was great…I agree that there are plenty of other things that a snake can eat besides a rabbit. Rabbits are wonderful creatures..i own a rabbit and she is soo sweet I could never imagine throwing her or any rabbit to a snake to be choked to death …rabbits are very nervous animals as it is and thats just cruel ..i think it’s cruel to purposely do that to any animals actually..in the wild it’s different it happens its out of your control but this is intentional and mean. I’m glad she saved them i wish they’d just stop all-together selling rabbits for snake food. There has to be something else to feed them. Honestly if I new that I probably would have done the same thing.
