Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” Has Been Out For Like, Six Hours and I’m Already Sick of Talking About It

Katy Perry’s new single “California Gurls” featuring Snoop Dogg was released today and everyone’s freaking out about it. OK, well, maybe not everyone, but definitely everyone of my Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook friends. Which is essentially everyone. The song’s catchy, I’ll give Katy that. I’m not normally a big KP fan (in fact, I borderline despise her. I’m a Lily Allen kind of girl), but I can see this turning into the song of the summer for sure. If not that, it’s definitely the song of the day.

Get in your first listen, kids. I’m sure you’re going to be hearing this one a lot.

  • I looove Katy Perry, but that was so incredibly boring, I couldn’t even listen to the whole thing. Also, music is too loud. I can barely hear the words.

  • gawd, this is just dreadful. I don’t like Katy Perry at all and this just made it worse.. Come on, listen to the lyrics… It’s boring. And cheesy. And corny. And stupid.

  • Is this the song she said was a response to “Empire State of Mind”? Very weak. I can barely hear a word she says.

  • why would anyone care about the words? i mean, anyone who’s actually bothered to pay attention to the lyrics of a katy perry song should know better already.

  • It’s very forgetabble and mediocre.

Things pass off for “music” too easily nowadays

  • This feels very 1999. I know the 90s are back, but… too.soon. About 3 seconds in I wanted to vomit. I’m sure it’ll catch on with the kiddies though.

  • I get ragey about Katy Perry, but this song is cute and catchy and will make it on my summer mix CD. I’m going to credit Snoop D O double G though to make myself feel better about this.
