Scarlett Johansson Continues To Abuse Our Ear Drums

Actually, though it’s true that Scarlett Johansson is singing again, her music doesn’t seem to sound so bad this time around.  To be warned though, when I say “doesn’t sound so bad” that just means that I’m not getting any new pins for my ScarJo voodoo doll.  It’s stillScarlett Johansson, after all.

Johansson paired up with singer-songwriter Pete Yorn who is best known for writing a bunch of music and scores for television shows and movies.  The CD “Break Up” drops September 8th, but the single “Relator” is available for a listen here.  What do you think?  She’s totally going for a Frenetically Happy Amy Winehouse vibe (as if there was such a thing), no?

  • i like it too. her voice isn’t bad either, just different. i certainly can’t sing as well as she.

  • I loove this song. ahah. And i think her voice is original. I don’t know if you watched American Idol Wendie, but her voice is very Meghan-esque. So yess, on the slightly less talented/cracked out winehouse comparison.

  • I actually really liked her. Her voice is unique. Now I want to hear this old stuff to compare…

  • Yeah I really liked it! But she does sound like Amy Winehouse, I would say more like Duffy, but thats just the kind of music going round at the moment.

  • nicely produced, but it/she sounds like feist and all of the other “feists”. no originality. BUT, I do think there is a nice jangle to the song.

  • She sounds exactly like Adele, who has a very great and sexy voice…. I do love me some Pete Yorn, too. I liked it – thumbs up!

  • Whoa, whoa, whoa! She does NOT sound like adele. she sounds like a self-indulgent starlet who thinks she can do whatever she damn well pleases. There are thousands of girls out there who can sing better than that and yet where are their record deals? It’s the exact same thing as Lauren Conrad having a book deal over Beet.

Just because her single this time is merely TOLERABLE I don’t think we should go ape shit.

That being said, it did sound much better than her previous crap but it is a 100% rip off of Zoey Deschanel’s band, She & Him. If you’re going to spend money on anything let it be that…and you’ll see what I mean about the ripping off.
