Jade Goody’s Sons Won’t Be at Her Funeral

janegoody12

After the tragic and too-soon death of Jade Goody this week, thousands of people are expected to be at her funeral on Saturday. Her two young sons, however, won’t be there. Their father, British TV host Jeff Brazier, is taking them to Australia and away from the media focus.

Good thing or bad thing?

I say good thing. These boys have been through enough. They need to process their mother’s passing as an actual event, and not as a media fiasco. No need to have them in the center of this.

  • I say good thing. They can always have a small family funeral later instead of being surrounded by all those people. They can be with their father and have their own memorial service for her and mourn how they want without cameras and people in their face.

  • Uncertain: Maybe the boys would be somehow comforted to see how many people were touched by their mother’s life and death. But I guess it could be frightening as well to small children. But somehow I think that, young as they are, they might have gotten some healing from it. But how can you blame their father from wanting to protect them from the chaos?

  • I agree with Wendy. Bad thing. Shielding the kids from what could in the long run be a fulfilling memory of their mother is not right. When they are older, I am certain they would rather look back and be glad they went. Adults are always underestimating kids in alot of ways. Be open, be honest, be real.

  • Why does it have to be a public fiasco in the first place?? Oh, that’s right… there’s still money to be made. Good Lord. Unfortunately, I don’t think there is a “good thing” either way.

  • I say good thing. They should have had a private one for the family tho. So the boys can say goodbye. But with thousands of people looking at them? No. Good thing they dont have to go to that.
