David Letterman Makes Rash Decision To Get Married

David Letterman has always struck me as so logical and rational, but he’s gone hog-wild and married his girlfriend of twenty-three years.  The transcript from tonight’s Late Show With David Letterman:

On Thursday, at 3 PM, March 19, 2009 at the Teton County Courthouse in Choteau, Montana, I was married to Regina Lasko.

Regina and I began dating in February of 1986, and I said, ‘Well, things are going pretty good, let’s just see what happens in about ten years….’

…I had avoided getting married pretty good for, like, 23 years, and I – honestly, whether this happened or not – I secretly felt that men who were married admired me…like I was the last of the real gunslingers, you know what I’m saying?

So now, we get ready to go and we’ve got to drive into the courthouse and it’s muddy, and we’re supposed to be there at 2, and it’s me, Regina and Harry in the truck, in the pickup truck…So we get two miles from the house and we get stuck in the mud – I mean, turn the truck over, stuck in the mud. So now we think, ‘Well, somebody’ll come– no, nobody comes along. Nobody comes along – it’s Thursday afternoon, who’s coming along, Zorro? No, nobody – so I get out of the truck and I walk two miles back to the house into a 50 mile an hour wind. It’s not Beverly Hills, it’s Montana, for God’s sakes. And the whole way, I’m thinking, ‘See, smart ass, see, see, you try to get married, this is what happens. See, well, you’ve got nobody to blame but yourself. Could have happened any other day, but you wait now, see, this is what you get.’ So then we get in the car and Harry says, ‘Are we still going into town?’ and I said, ‘Yes, we are,’ and he gets very upset because mom had told him if I wasn’t back in an hour, the deal was off.

There aren’t too many pictures of his wife, Regina Lasko.  I do have one in the photo gallery of the happy couple with their son, Harry.

  • David and Regina have somehow managed to have a normal life with their darling son Harry. This marriage makes it even better! The Letterman’s have a perfect family now. Hats off to them. :)

  • Congrats to Dave and Regina, and Harry too! Though I’m sure he does not pay attention to any of these blogs! He is hilarious, and continues to be. He’s so sincere when he talks about the happiness of being a father, but I wish he’d say some kind words about his now wife too. Maybe it’s a PDA issue with his real love, because he’s always flirty with guests he has crushes on.

Best wishes to the happy couple!

  • um does anyone else read beets personal blog?!?!?! i think we can all agree that she is a fucking mental case! shes on like a zillion different medications and clearly none of them are working!!!! she always be talkin about killing herself i mean jesus christ girl! either do it or dont! make up your mind!

    • iI hope you realize how disgusting and ignorant you sound. Mental illness is not something to be taken lightly, and given the circumstances, Beet has taken all the right steps to improving her well-being. Perhaps instead of being a bitch you should give her credit for not losing hope, and for continuing to write in her blog even when morons like you bash her. jeez.

  • i think you are old already you also married with old woman real who are you venasssa you she is so naked real what is your name

  • That lady is a soldier. She stayed with him for 23 years and no ring. That makes me excited that it can be done.

  • Congrats Dave. My theory on why there are no pics of him and the ladylove-cause he doesn’t have his publicist notify the paparazzi everytime he leaves his house. Guy seems like he leads a semi-normal life.
You’re either a Dave or Jay person-like a dog or cat person. It says something about your personality…

  • Congrats Dave!!!

I love David Letterman. He is one super smart, clever, and extraordinarily funny guy. I also appreciate the homage and sincere appreciation he has always paid to “The Greats”, like Johnny Carson, Steve Allen and Jack Parr. He was wonderfully eloquent upon returning to the air after September 11th, and in his (well deserved) praise to Rudy Guliani’s leadership during that black period in our nation’s history. And, as someone pointed out, his love and appreciation for being a Dad to his son Harry, is touching and genuine.

Dave, you Rock!!! Good luck and God Bless.

  • I have been waiting for you to get married ever since you had yor heart attack, I’m glad you did what you said —— it took a while but you kept your word to Regina, good luck!:)
