We all know that Australia isn’t going to be winning all (or any!) of the Oscars they’d hoped for, so Nicole Kidman decided instead to dress up like a ridiculous gold statue at the Australia premiere in Madrid.
This look could have worked, I think, if she’d paired it with simple black shoes and maybe a different necklace, but it’s kind of blinding and silly the way it is.

Here’s what would have made this look work. A full length body bag.
Ok I will be nice. Different shoes, different necklace, a belt (or a better seamstress for shape), and some Crisco Oven spray. Can you say tin foil?
I don’t see why people are judging Australia. Sure Nicole Kidman uses botox. And? It’s eased up in the movie and it really was the best movie I have seen this year. The story was gripping and the cinematography was beautiful.
Kudos to Baz Lurhman for deciding to make a movie about the gross injustices that the Aboriginal people had to deal with.
Watch the movie, you will not be disappointed.

I genuinely liked Australia. I think it suffered from the amount of hype some critics were giving it earlier, which created an image nothing could live up to. I think Australia is suffering particularly because with the bad economy, people are going to the movies looking for pure escapism such as Quantum of Solace, the new James Bond movie, and Twilight, are more apt to provide. While Australia is certainly entertaining, it is more of a quality, well-thought out, mature audience film that cannot live up to the crowd-drawing capabilities of the so called “popcorn movies.”
As for Nicole Kidman’s look, I like the dress fine, but think the shoes kill it. I cannot make an adequate judgment on how the necklace affects things without seeing how it would do with simpler shoes.
The first picture looks awkward, like it’s really a wax statue…umm is this a picture of a real person because what the hell??
She’s never been a fashion pioneer. But Baz? Wonderful. It’s really a great movie. One of the best I’ve seen in years. It hits all genres. You won’t be disappointed.
I actually like her as an actress, and I think she gets a lot of shit that she doesn’t deserve, but right here…. she looks like flaming barf. I hate it. A lot. I’m kind of sick of her being that blonde too…. I wish she didn’t hate her red so much. God, her and Linds need to respect the red!!
