Jonas Brothers to Star in “Walter the Farting Dog” Movie

More stuff that’s just too good to be true: Variety reports that The Jonas Brothers have signed on to make their big-screen debut in the film adaptation of the Walter the Farting Dog books. While it’s not official, it’s looking like the Farrelly brothers will direct.

The title character in the “Walter” books is a fat dog with severe flatulence. The brothers play musicians whose parents are asked to care for the dog by an aunt just before she passes away.

“By the time they’ve driven the dog home, everybody’s head is out the window of the family station wagon but Frankie, and only because he has a serious sinus problem and doesn’t notice the stench coming from Walter,” said Peter Farrelly.

While his brothers play music, Frankie and the gaseous hound get involved in a plot that involves liberating a koi fish and thwarting jewel thieves.

DUDE.

My dog needs to star in this movie. Or at least provide the smells. He is the farting-est puppy on the planet. Honestly he weighs seven pounds, but sometimes I have to evacuate entire rooms for hours after he infects them. The first time I ever heard of this book is when I was Googling for “Why does my dog fart so much?” Not a joke. It’s true.

  • What a ridiculous movie….think of all the hungry people who could be fed on the budget of this crap.

  • Do not speak ill of Walter the Farting Dog. The book came out while I was working at a bookstore in college and it was one of the highlights of my life (not sure if that speaks to the awesomeness of Walter or the sadness of the first 19 years of my life).

One thing I worry about is half of the appeal of the book is a farting dog but the other half is artwork. This could be done very well as an animated movie but having live action version could suck big time and damaged the legacy that is Walter the Farting Dog.

  • the jonas brother, playing musicians in a movie… wow they are really stepping out!
so… this is going to be just like Camp Rock? Except the dog’s name is Walter instead of Mitchie?

  • Ok has anyone noticed the way stars now a days look at the camera as they are photographed? Such as Paris Hilton when you look at her her eyelid lowers over the eye so she looks like she is slightly squinting and thus more “exotic”. The Jonas brothers are doing something similar except the two on the end. Looking at them I can just imagine some fat housewife, a cougar with a weight problem as it were, looking at the Jonas Boys and thinking about pushing their heads in her nasty yeasty smelling muff while listening to them scream bloody murder for fresh air. Makes for a sickly imagined situation huh?

  • I’ve got a pretty wild and disturbing imagination but overweight housewives face molesting the Jonas brothers is not something I think I could ever come up with. I am simultaneously disgusted and honored to have read that. Cheers.

  • Joe, whoever you are, you made my day with your comment about the art in the Walter the Farting Dog book series because I’m the illustrator. I would also prefer animation by far but the authors(there are 3 of them) always outvote me. They never even told me of offers they received for animated movies as well as TV shows. I found out a few years ago by reading an interview done with Glenn Murray, one of the authors. In any case, after signing the contract for the option neither the authors or me have any say in what Fox does with it. I can only hope that it’s not another Beethoven the sheepdog-type movie. Anyway I just wanted to say thanks for saying what you said! Audrey

  • I don’t understand why people like the Jonas brothers so much. They’re not good looking at all and they sing like my dog. So it’s mystery they’ve got success!

  • ahhhh doesnt sound like a good movie, but if the jonas brothers are in it….ill go 10 different times to watch it….i think it was a good idea on fox’s part for choosing to make this non-animated because a lot more people will go see it if the jonas brothers are in it…..i know it for a fact. no girl that likes the jonas brothers cares about what the movies about…take it from me, one of the biggest jonas fans ever!
