FAA Confirms That Shredded Tire Caused Barker/DJ AM Plane Crash

Very sad.

Federal aviation officials are saying the tires on the doomed Learjet that crashed last month in South Carolina shredded as the plane ran out of runway …

The National Transportation Safety Board said Wednesday that very little rubber was left on the jet’s wheels and the brakes were severely damaged when the plane crashed on takeoff just before midnight Sept. 19.

The plane’s cockpit voice recorder has indicated that crew members thought a tire blew as they hurtled down the runway before failing to abort the takeoff.

Such a simple issue — why were the tires not checked before takeoff?

This sounds to me like pretty gross negligence.

  • @chels I know what you mean, its hard to find good help these days. People now days just don’t have the work ethic they used to have. I mean consider whoever wrote this post, they must have been working hard to write that good and it took a good bit of their time I am sure. I work with people who couldn’t write like this if they tried, and getting them to try is hard enough as it is.

  • My good friend and I had been just talking over this particular issue, she’s continually seeking to prove me incorrect! I am about to show her this particular post and rub it in a little!
