Today's Evil Beet Gossip

Janet Jackson Hospitalized

Hm.

A representative for Janet Jackson says the singer has been hospitalized after falling ill shortly before a concert.

According to statement released by W&W Public Relations, the singer canceled her concert in Montreal on Monday after she “got suddenly ill” during her sound check and had to be rushed to the hospital just before show time.

The statement says Jackson is being monitored at the hospital and hopes to reschedule the show. No further information was given about Jackson’s condition.

What is with these celebrities and rushing off to the hospital every time they get sick? Like I have been really really really sick in the past, but I never go to the hospital for it. Hospitals are for, like, broken bones and bleeding things and baby births and terminal illnesses. I don’t know a single person in real life who goes to the hospital just because they don’t feel well for a day. I’ll be interested to hear what exactly what wrong with Janet — or, at least, what they say is wrong with Janet.

  • I went to the concert in Montreal… People were left outside for an hour, before being told by ticket ushers that the show was cancelled.
Some people were let into the Bell Centre, bought program guides, sat down, etc, and then kicked out. The whole thing was mass confusion as there was no official announcement

  • actually Beet, I’d say hospitals aren’t for baby births but rather for those births that need help. But this isn’t the forum for debating that :)

  • Tell me about it Beet, I am sick as a freakin’ dog right now, went to the ER and had a BP of 169/100 and a fever, had pain all over, got bit by my cat recently and told the doctor, was prescribed the WRONG antibiotic for the cat bite, never got offered pain medicine or BP medicine and was sent home AND I work in management over clerks in that same ER. Go figure! Regular people get to die at home if they are not scraped up off the road or turning blue when the are rolled in the doors.

  • I think part of it probably has to do with nervous handlers. When a normal person gets sick they can decide to just lie in bed and whine until they’re better. When someone who lots of people have a financial stake in gets sick, they want to protect their investment and get that person medical care ASAP just in case.

Plus on the cynical side it’s easier to get people to understand cancelling a whole concert if you’re hospitalized instead of just going to bed to rest. It’s like insulation from criticism to a point.

  • It’s a good thing that she’s sick…
Because she canceled the show 5 minutes before it started!
And some people were from Calgary in Canada to see her!

  • well you should visit my country Beet,
everyone is at the emergency ward all the time,
any reason is good enough for self referral,
    even breaking of the spectacles,
    it’s dreadful !

  • I could never really realized how Americans really have a tough time with being sick, I mean, the average American could possibly go bankrupt if they are seriously hurt injured, or really really sick!
I don’t think that’s fair, I mean medical attention or prescriptions shouldn’t break your bank.
…My mind has just been blown….

  • i think it’s probably because the celeb looks like a total diva if they cancel a concert at the last minute because they felt sick and had to go take a nap, rather than be “rushed to the hospital”.
and do you notice how they’re always, ALWAYS “rushed”?
no one EVER seems to go to the hospital at a normal pace.
it’s like, chill out. you’re gonna get there.
    sheesh.

  • I agree with you on the hospital thing. Going to the general physician is one thing, but other than the day I was born, I’ve only been to a hospital once and that was because I broke my arm.

Yea, and ditto on the “rushed.” Why are celebs always “rushed” and “ushered” places?

  • @ purplemonkeypoop

    “I could never really realized…”???

Did you fall out of a train and hit your head on a stupid tree?

  • @ Tss

Once again over your head under your feet. huh? It must suck not really getting what your reading, just because you read the words doesn’t mean you know whats being said. You know that, right?

  • TSS, dear, it is remarkably easy to make grammatical/spelling mistakes while typing.

I myself have been guilty of it many, many times in the past.

It does not render the “offender” an idiot, or anything like it.

  • That’s because it’s probably all bullshit and she needs to go to the hospital to make it look good since she has obligations to so many people wih a concert schedule on her hands.

  • I say she saw photos of her hair and her outfit and decided she needed to bury her head for a few days to allow for sympathy for dressing in the dark.
