First off, rumors that they were on that Learjet so that Travis’ assistant could be present for the birth of his child are false.
Says a publicist for the duo in a statement:
“Both Travis Barker and Adam Goldstein (DJ AM) are in critical but stable condition and are being treated at Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia after surviving a plane crash late last night in Columbia, South Carolina. The hospital will issue a statement with an update on their condition at 9:00 am eastern time tomorrow. Due to the nature of the injuries and the evolving course of treatment no further information on their condition is available at this time. The accident claimed the lives of four people on board, two of whom, Chris Baker (Lil Chris) and Charles Stills (Che), were close friends of the injured. On behalf of Travis Barker and DJ AM, deepest sympathy is expressed to the loved ones of all who perished in the crash. As the two recuperate and mourn this loss, privacy for them, their families, and friends is requested at this time.”

Somehow I just can’t bring myself to post the latest photos from the Emmy swag lounges and write pithy comments about them in the face of shit like this. It’s never fun to be reminded how suddenly your whole life can be turned upside-down through no fault of your own.
Things’ll be back to normal by tomorrow night, I suppose. But summer ended in Seattle today, and it’s dark, cold and rainy and something’s changed tangibly, and all I want to do tonight is curl up in bed with my puppy and my cats.

If they are in critical condition Barker will make it, but Adam will probably not.
First off I’d like to express my deepest sympathy to the people who passed away from the plane crash. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. Second, please pray and pray for Travis and Adam to make a full recovery. They are very lucky to be alive but I’m sure are in great pain. This whole situation is sooo sad. Just keep praying for all involved.
“critical but stable” means they are in critical condition, but their condition is not worsening at this time. most 8th graders wouldn’t know that, but the rest of us would.
I just watched an old episode of “Sex and the City” and that was the topic they started with – the end of the summer, when all you wanna do is cuddle up with ur puppy or the pillow and sleep all day. Seattle in the Fall. Here’s what I do. Take a walk in the Arboretum or Discovery Park – the rain makes it really green, right before the leaves fall. Find yourself a copy of ” Northern Exposure” – it’s always at this time of year that I remember how close we are to Alaska. Unfortunately, this is our weather until May. But, when the clouds disappear, this is the most beautiful place on earth! Also, keep looking to the west in the morning. The first snow on the Olympics at sunrise is a sight you’ll never forget! So much beauty, just a little rain that gets in the way. With the Barker and DJ AM situation, it’s always a great reminder to look for the simple beauty in things. My heart goes out to DJ, who worked so hard to bring his body around.
Being a nurse for almost 20 years I will tell you healthcare information is highly protected by law and anything released by hospitals for press release is going to be bullshit doublespeak and have little or no details or validity, hence the term “critical but stable”. Until time that these guys actually want someone from their camp to talk specifics the hospitals and healthcare folks will say nothing or they will get the royal shit sued out of them. The same is done for regular folks, not just famous people. The law is called HIPAA. It makes sure healthcare business stays private, like it should. Most likely DJ AM has respiratory damage, endangering his life, and Travis Barker has lower body burns, which puts a horrible spin on elimination, sex, mobility, etc. Early details should not be announced to anyone except the closest of friends and family at this awful time in these guys lives. I expect they want the least attention possible right now so their caregivers and families can focus on what it takes to pull them through this. Once the prognosis is known I am sure their camp will share more. This is horrible. Now is not the time to give a damn about satisfying the public’s curiosity.
Something about this story hit me way harder than any other accident or death so far this year. I guess it’s just different when it’s someone close to your age. It just makes me feel sad and a little ill, and I hope they both recover fully and honor the people who died.

The medical director at the Georgia burn hospital where both men are being treated says they are expected to make a full recovery. Dr. Fred Mullins has revealed that the musicians are being treated for second and third degree burns, recovery from which can take as long as a year. Barker was burned on his torso while DJ AM, real name Adam Goldstein, was burned on his hands and part of his head. Both men are in critical but stable condition and have no other injuries from the crash.

i know exactly what you mean. a girl at my high school was attacked in her home with a shovel last week. i can’t imagine if my mom walked into our house and saw me unconscious and bleeding on the floor with a man with a knife standing over me. it’s one of those things where it could have been you and my life hasn’t been quite the same since last week.

It seems like there is something going on with you personally, something sad or unresolved is happening in your own life, that is the real root of these emotions. As someone who has fairly frequently been in ‘critical but stable’ condition, I can tell you what I think hospitals mean by that phrase. The patient is still critically ill, but is responding to treatment, and if they continue to respond to treatment, will recover. However, when a patient is critically ill, their status can worsen in the blink of an eye. Semantics aside, ‘critical but stable’ means the doctors are cautiously optimistic.
I don’t understand why there are a few people here who are saying awful things to each other. Tss – you need to step back and try to figure out why you’re so mad. My six yr old knows that “critcal but stable” means you’re really in a bad way but are holding steady. Your health is not declining. Donk- come on, not sure what is wrong wth you but most of your posts are mean and/or negative. We’re talking about specific people. Why are you throwing Iraq in here?
