Today's Evil Beet Gossip

It’s That Time of Year Again!

We’re coming up on a Presidential election, and gossip has been moving at the pace of the 405 at rush hour, so the only logical course of action is to point out that, on occasion, starlets develop anorexia.

SERIOUSLY?????

HOLY SHIT!!!

The folks at Us Weekly seem to have noticed that some of the female members of the 90210 cast are anorexic. Guess what? I noticed that shit a LONG TIME AGO.

From Us Weekly:

“They want the girls to gain weight,” a show source tells Us. “They are trying too hard to be skinny, and it’s started to wear on them. It’s just not healthy.”

See photos of more scary skinny stars.

Stroup, 21, is 5-foot-8 but weighs 100 to 105 pounds while Grimes, 18, is 5-foot-3 and stands at a mere 90 pounds, Beverly Hills-based weight-management expert Dr. Joyce Peters estimates to Us.

“I’ve never seen Jessica or Shenae eat,” another show source tells Us.

And here’s what fucking KILLS me: Us magazine wants to act like it’s all horrible and tragic that these girls are dying of a miserable and destructive illness, and meanwhile they’re trying to get page views off of a photo gallery of other starving girls. And they will! It doesn’t matter what they’re saying, what they’re so obviously implying is that THIN IS PROFITABLE.

And you think these girls are really gonna take shit from their producers about their weight?

Fuck, they just landed the cover of Us Weekly, and it’ll sell well, too, because America LOVES anorexia, and the show will see a much-needed ratings boost.

UN. HEALTHY.

Makes me sooooo mad.

  • YEAH!

You stand by your obesity Beet!

We’re all behind you… They won’t be able to see us, but we’re there damn it!

  • i used to have an eating disorder…its a HUGH obsession. it’s all you think about or care about. no matter how long or hard you battle it, it never fully goes away

  • I noticed on the first airing of 90210 how skinny the actress who plays silver is! I get so distracted by looking at how tiny her thighs or upper arms are in whatever scene she is in, it drives me crazy. Shenea I use to watch on Degrassi the next generation and she was thin but there is now a clear difference between the shows.

  • I hate to be one of the “I was anorexic, too”, but in January I had to leave Seattle to go to an eating disorder facility in San Diego. (I was 95 lbs. @ 5’7″) It scared me so badly that I did ANYTHING to get out of there. It was a private and “exclusive” facility–all the therapists talked about was “how sick you are–you need to stay here a LOOOOONG time!” I don’t know about YOU, but $50,000 for 30 days is a bit much for the average gal. We were sensory deprived, shamed into eating and held “hostage” by psychiatrist’s dollar-incentive-based diagnosis. Perhaps these girls need to be frightened into eating. Worked for me.

  • I love how these magazines will be like “Hollywood actresses are TOO THIN!!!” one week, then “OMG, look at her poochy belly and cottage cheese thighs! Someone needs to go on a diet!” about someone else.

And also one mag will say “Jennifer Aniston’s heart broken again” and the one next to it on the rack will say “Jennifer Aniston confesses ‘I’ve found true love!!'”

  • Jinx, you are so right. And with that “poochy belly” story, they’d link to a gallery of “stars who just can’t stop eating!”

  • I honestly don’t think Shenae is that skinny. I think the picture is a really bad angle. Everyone has those “fat” or “discustingly skinny” pictures. It happens to everyone. In the show – it doesn’t really seem that much of a concern. If you also realize that she is kinda short, in that article it says 5 foot 3, then its not that big of a deal. Some girls are just BORN naturally thin and tiny. I’m sixteen, pretty much fully done growing, and i am 5 1/2 and weigh 90 pounds. Its natural for me to be this skinny, but i definetly can eat like the fattest person around. Just because someone is thin, doesn’t automatically mean they’re anorexic.

However, Jessica does seem scary skin in that picture, no doubt about that. But she might just be one of those really skinny girls, natural or not, and had a bad shot. I never noticed that she was THAT skinny in the show.

  • I agree with everyone about the mags and how they seem to get away with anything they print. It doesn’t have to be the truth it just has to get people’s attention so they will buy, buy, buy! On the other hand I just don’t understand why people continue to spend their hard earned money on the ones they know don’t care about the truth? Spend that money on your family or yourself or, give it to someone who needs it! Oh well life goes on.

  • Eating disorders are a real thing I get totally get that NOW though, I totally didn’t until I dated a woman who, I eventually found out, had one. That’s a depressing and a lost cause/ LONG story kinda thing so I will omit that bit.
HOWEVER! I do wonder why beautiful women whom were accepted into the “Industry” were later found to be unfit. Whom or what made them feel that way to the point that they would do that to their body and their life?! What man is attracted to a woman that is build like a pre-adolescent boy?! Sounds mighty twisted and disturbing to me.

  • um, beet, weren’t you just saying you wanted to be thin like c. diaz? isn’t she about that weight too? i’m six foot and passed a hundred pounds in elementary school and am certainly not going back. i eat and work out; it’s all about balance for me, but then again i’m not constantly bombarded with pictures of myself like they are.

  • Eating disorders become your life, it’s damn near impossible to let go of. It becomes something that is yours and yours alone, that you control, and no one else can take away from you.
It’s a constant fight against yourself. I’m still fighting.

  • I used to work in Toronto on the tv show, Degrassi the New Generation. All the actresses were obsessed with their weight and drove the wardrobe department crazy. Shenae Grimes, in person, looks far skinnier than on that cover!! She was a total drama queen that chain-smoked endlessly!

  • Let me just say Cay, that at 16 you are not done seeing the changes your body will go through. I could eat like a horse at sixteen and now at 29 I have to be careful so I don’t get fat, and work out to maintain muscle tone. However, maybe you’re lucky and have really good genes.

  • I don’t think Shenae Grimes is too skinny. She’s thin, but I don’t believe that she’s TOO thin. If she lost weight then she would be in trouble, but at that weight at the very most she’s bordering on too thin. Jessica Stroup, however, is unquestionably way too thin. Maybe she has an eating disorder, or maybe there’s another reason that we don’t know about, but either way she NEEDS to gain weight.
