Taylor Momsen’s Look: Love It or Leave It?

At the New Yorkers For Children Fall Gala.

We definitely need to discuss the outfit, but, more than that, I wanna hear your thoughts on the new haircut Taylor’s rocking these days. Is this her new “high-end model” look?

  • oh no! i like her but this is just not a good look on her, at all. her hair and the hippie dress are competing with each other – her hair’s edgy, she needs a rockin dress to match it.

  • Isn’t she like 15? She looks like 25 here. Don’t like the look at all. The heavy eyeliner is too much, her necklace clashes horribly with that dress and please, stay away from the old women’s washed out blond.

  • Yeah I don’t like the dress.

I also don’t like the 5 lbs of eyeliner.

She’s a gorgeous girl, she doesn’t need all that crap.

  • LOVE IT!
Go slightly less eyeliner, and slightly darker hair though (long would look awesome, but this does too). But everything else rocks!

  • It is a ’60’s look, and very pretty, but too much make up, especially too much eye make up. Her eye make up should be softer and sort of smudged. But even her foundation looks kind of caked on.

  • I don’t know who she is ( I know this will drive Joan crazy, she’ll tell me she doesn’t understand why I can’t just goggle it, truth is, I don’t care THAT much. But because of Beets ‘high-end model’ comment, I’m gunna guess she’s from ANTM) but I like her look.

  • i love how much ppl talk about selena gomez for not dressing her age and even for ali lohan but say nothing about taylor momsen. don’t get me wrong; i love the way both selena and taylor dress [ali… another story even though i don’t find it to be any older than the way these two girls dress] and i do indeeed think it is age appropriate because as a sixteen yr. old i can promise we love fashion… high end interesting fashion and that is what they wear. they aren’t wearing clothes in an attempt to look older; they are wearing beautiful clothes they love.
in this pic, i think taylor is looking like an old grandma not because of the dress but because of the combination of the hair cut and make up. one or the other is great. together… she looks eighty. when you’re face is already older and more mature than you are, you should probably have ayounger, more fun haircut.
i like the outfit. i just wish it was with some strappy heels.

  • Apparently she got the haircut because of what happens on Gossip Girl, but she seems to be embracing it. At least this is a little more toned down, and not the disaster it was over fashion week. Not much you can do with a horrible chop like that.

  • Well, the dress really does not do her justice. She is a pretty girl with a nice figure, and that dress just eclipses all of that. I don’t really have a problem with her eyeliner, though. I think her hair is kind of rocker/punkish, and the eyeliner plays that up. I agree with some of the other comments, though, that the dress clashes with the hair and makeup. It seems like she’s trying to combine earthy and flowing with something hard-edged, and it just does not work.

  • mimi in mo I had no idea who she was either, so I googled it for the both of us! Ugh, apparently I DO care that much!! She is on Gossip Girl.
As for the look – leave it, she’s a pretty girl and that “look” doesn’t do her any favors.

To quote my idol, Karen from Will & Grace “Honey, whatever look you were going for, ya missed!”

  • you know what? i actually kinda dig it. she seems to be finding a new style from what i’ve seen lately. the hair, the clothes, etc. plus this outfit seems like an updated stevie nicks kind of look…which i like!

her hair is also wicked. i think people are just freaking out because it’s not long, beautiful and loosely curled like every other starlet in that age bracket.

  • I love the dress, hair is ok.. eye liner has GOT to go! I dunno who she is, but according to the comments shes still a teenager and I totally didn’t think that when I saw the picture. She looks almost 30 there! So that being said it’s not a good look for HER, but I do like the look for someone a few years older.

  • She’s 15 years old.. and now looks like a 29 year old has been. She could be Shauna Sand’s daughter. I’m so sorry to see this. She was one of my girl crushes.

  • She looks like she is trying wayyyy too hard. She is 15, she needs to stay out of her mom’s closet and make-up bag!

  • I just really HATE the heavy black eyeliner look, and tis ESPERCIALLY bad on fairskinned blondes.

That dress is vintage and would do with a cute 1930s fingerwave, which she could totally pull off, but the dress needs some bias detail or seaming, its too sacky.
But if she wants that hair and that makeup, she needs to be dressed funkier, or edgy.

And BTW, the hair is a little more Florence Henderson than it is edgy model

  • i can’t believe someone said they liked her eyeliner.
she has so much on you can’t tell she even has eyelashes.
it’s severe and trashy looking. i like the dress and accessories though.

  • She’s wearing WAY too much make up. Isn’t she just 14, 15 years old? she needs to fire her stylist because her hair looks like my 8 year old cousin took a couple of snips at it. And her dress doesn’t really seem to suit her either. Overall, I think she needs to stop trying so hard.

  • no lie her hair looks like mine did a week before high school graduation when i thought i’d be a great idea to cut my own hair for an edgy fashionable look and it turned out that i was the only one excited to wear the cardboard graduation cup cus it covered my choppy and depressing creation.

  • cute hair (a couple of shades darker would be better) and i like the dress, but she looks like she’s been taking makeup tips from pamela anderson.

  • I love it. She looks totally hot here. The quiet, “yes grandma, I’ll play cards with you,” while when you doze off I’ll sneak away to the kitchen pantry with the stable boy to be naughty…

  • …so does she count as a New Yorker or as one of the children they’re for? This girl is younger than my daughter, and looks older than me.

I’m not saying she should be in overalls or rompers – but it is physically possible for a 15 yr old to be fashionable, pretty, even sophisticated – and still look like a 15 yr old. (Miley, are you listening?!

The hair could work if she’s going for a post-punk Joan Jett/Mrs. Brady vibe, but her makeup artist should throw the Sharpie out.

  • by the way, i’m not the same beth as the one below me.
i love her hair! like kate moss’, but better! she looks a lot older than 15!
