The Dark Knight’s Coming Back to Theaters

Perhaps they’re not happy with being the second-highest grossing film in U.S. history? (The flick’s still $78M short of Titanic.) Or, more likely, they want to remind Oscar voters how damn great the film is before they submit their ballots.

Whatever the reason, Warner Bros. is going to re-release the film in theaters in January 2009.

“It’s just a matter of bringing it back as a reminder for people,” a studio insider said.

Do you think the re-release will draw an audience? The film comes out on DVD in December, so it’s unlikely the box office numbers will be impressive. This is clearly just an Oscar play.

  • Oh, I was like wtf? Is this so they can postpone the DVD release? But then you stated no. That’s kinda weird. Although you can’t get quality out of home TVs that you can at the theatre so my guess is that it’ll still make money.

  • Yeah, oscars and MONEY! That seems what WB is all about these days….

((Yes I’m bitter about harry potter being pushed back))

  • ^ Omg, same about HP. *grr*

  • im excited its coming out again!!!!!!!!!!!! i cant wait i only saw it once in theatres n wanted to see it again. my parents never got to see it in theatres and were mad when it got to be too late. they are thrilled its coming out again. i mean, ofcorse its gonna still be an amazing movie on DVD but in my opinion n just about everyone ive talked to that saw the movie in theatres agree its not gonna be nearly as good just watching it in ur living room. b/c ur not as involved, unless you have a kick ass sound system. but even then its just not the same.
