Today's Evil Beet Gossip

Get Better, Allegra!

Lest you think for even a moment that money can buy you happiness, take a look at Allegra Versace.

The poor little rich girl has been battling anorexia for years now, and it still looks to be a problem here at the UK premiere of The Dark Knight.

My heart goes out to this poor girl. It must be incredibly stressful to grow up in a family of fashion icons, surrounded by models and beautiful people your whole life.

We’re all rooting for you, sweetie!

  • This girl can afford ALL the fucking food she wants, and she still obviously refuses to let anything past her lips. I don’t feel bad for her one bit. There are BILLIONS of people starving to death spread out across our planet. This is such a narcissist’s thing. I don’t even want to call it a disease. Fucking CANCER is a disease. This is just the symptom of being raised by a crazy, shallow mother amid a stupid, shallow industry.

I’m going to go eat a shitton of ice cream now.

  • 100 years ago, rich people could afford to be fat and poor people were thin. Now it’s the opposite.

  • i know a girl who is very, very thin and her hands are ALWAYS reddish-purple. i bet it has something to do with the lack of, you know… food.

  • To Ernestine: I cannot speak for this woman, because I don’t know her situation, but anorexia IS a disease. Unless you have dealt with it yourself, you really have no idea what it is like. It doesn’t matter how much money she has, since she truly believes that she is too fat and will starve herself to attain “perfection”. An anorexic can weigh 75 lbs and still think that she is overweight. Why anorexia is prevelant in our society is a whole other issue; but, regardless of anorexia’s epidemiology, it is a serious psychological disorder that must be treated asap. If an anorexic is not treated, she can and will die due to malnutrition, organ atrophy and/or heart failure. So, yeah, it’s a disease.

  • ok, ernestine seriously needs to get a clue. i’ve struggled with anorexia for a few years now, and one thing that i can tell you is that it is NOT about the food. it’s an emotional and mental struggle each and every day.

  • Ernestine – how can you say in one sentence that you feel absolutely no pity for this “narcissistic” child and then turn around and say “This is just the symptom of being raised by a crazy, shallow mother amid a stupid, shallow industry” I’m really curious how you justify that

  • Ernestine you are truly ignorant, I have to agree with the previous comment, it is only about the emotional and mental part of it.When you are anorexic it COMPLETELY twists the way you percieve yourself. It has absolutely no connection to how you are RAISED, it can happen at any time to anyone even for no reason at all. Money has NOTHING to do with it.

  • Whatever. I think it’s unfortunate, and I do admit that it’s a psychological disease (and I do apologize — truly — for insinuating that it’s not) but I still maintain that it’s a disease that’s really only prevalent in wealthy countries. In order to starve yourself, you have to have the CHOICE to starve yourself, and I guess the fact that some people have that choice and some people would literally KILL for that choice sort of angers me. Waste in general pisses me off, and denying yourself of necessary nutrients while others are so freakishly malnourished will always bewilder me. And I still say that growing up with Donatella Versace as your mother has to have SOMEthing to do with her preoccupation with her looks and her weight. That’s all.

  • she looks amazing!! love the outfit :) she still plays on free interracial dating site mixedmate.com ? I heard this many times from my friends playing on that site.

  • wow, i feel the need to eat a cookie or sundae or pizza or hell all of it for her. i hope she is able to get to the root of her emotional problems before it is too late! poor girl.

purple hand? maybe she was katie holmes partner in her scientology ritual? or maybe purple hands are a new fashion accessory?

  • Gosh you guys I think you should cut her a break. I, too, have struggled with my weight for many years and I know how much pain anorexia can cause. It is true that the disease is born out of wealthy countries with media that sends mixed messages to women, but that doesn’t make the disease any less real.

  • I agree with Ernestine. Its a disease only prevalent in developed countries, not so much in developing countries where millions of people starve to death everyday because they don’t have the money to buy food. They don’t have much of a choice, do they?

  • its a mental problem for some people..for some its just a sense of control over a life they feel they have lost control over..they cnt control anything else but they can control food.I know for me wen i started it was to feel better like ic uldnt do ne thing rite but if i didnt eat tht day it was one thing rite u know.well im not doing tht now but yeah ok bye

  • @KC – we do. Why can’t you morons understand that any developing country is full of starving, dying people!? The starving masses only make up a small percentage, and there’s a huge population of people who can choose to eat as much or as little as any one of you, or waste our food any want we want to. But I have never heard of or known anyone who’s anorexic. Almost everyone I know, me included are all weight conscious, limit our consumptions, watch what we eat, diet – but no one goes overboard. We love good and toned bodies here too, but maybe we just don’t carry it to your levels of unhealthy narcissism?

Ernestine is right, no normal, balanced human being can call this thing a ‘disease’!

  • ** Why can’t you morons understand that developing countries are not filled with only starving, dying people!?

  • okay people: so it’s not about the body. we’ve established it’s a mental problem!! shouldn’t we be feeling bad for her stardom-studded and influenced brain then?? fat or thin!!!

  • Poor girl?!?!?!WTF!Allegra Versace IS NOT a poor girl..Ok, maybe she’s anorexic and everything but she could cure herself of it whenever she wants. The problem evidently is than neither she or her lovely mum worry about it. They don’t consider her weight a disease symptom, on the contrary they consider a disease not to be skinny like her. I am sorry for every anorexic girl all over the world, but not for people like her who want to be anorexic in order to feel beautiful like no one and wear a Versace outfit size 0. If she’s going to get worse, she deserves it, maybe she will realize that she is actually ill..

  • Someone said it earlier…I don’t know who, but wow, she does look a whole lot better than the last photo I saw of her. She needs to continue whatever she is doing to get her better.

  • Ernestine has been getting some bad press. I feel sorry for all of the hungry adn starving people out there in the world. There a shitload more of them than the anorexics.

  • even when she smiles she looks miserable. i think her mom dropped the ball with instilling self confidence in this girl. i do feel bad for her as well.

  • somebody please drag her to some impoverished, 3rd world countries, where there’s literally NO FOOD to eat .. she can buy pricey clothes and jewels and yet .. she refuses to eat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
