In case you haven’t seen it, here’s the video for American Idol almost-was Phil Stacey’s first single, “If You Didn’t Love Me.”
I don’t know why, but I tend to just never like male country singers. I actually really like a lot of female country singers, but men singing country is just unendingly boring to me. So I’m not big on this.
What do you guys think?
Phil’s self-titled debut album is expected to hit stores April 29.
I wouldn’t mind going deaf and blind for about 3min and 36 seconds. I like country music but this is really pushing it.

Why didn’t they use the singer as the principal in the video? Who the hell were the other people? It isn’t like this pig is going to be used in a movie.
He’s bouncing around like Springsteen and gesticulating like David Bowie… Country singers don’t do this.
The song’s like country-lite or something. There isn’t any heart to it.

Without even knowing it, I stopped the song after 5 seconds to write that ha has big, funny eyebrow. Kind of liked the voice.. but country in generally, well, no thank you.
Uh, I’m not hearing country here. Not enough twang, ya know. (To be fair, not hearing much of anything, since I turned it off pretty quick, so maybe he started twangin’ later on.)
Surprisingly, I thought the man’s video was quite good, as was the song. I guess it’s a matter of personal taste.
