This is so sad. I really love this band. I mean, it’s always sad when young people die, but it sucks extra when they’re a member of a totally kick-ass band you love.
Casey Calvert, 26, the guitarist for Hawthorne Heights, died on their tour bus on Saturday night. Cause of death is unknown.
The band posted this on their website:
Today is probably the worst day ever. Its with our deepest regrets that we have to write this. Casey Calvert passed away in his sleep last night. We found out this afternoon before sound-check. We’ve spent the entire day trying to come to grips with this and figure out as much as possible. At this time we’re not sure what exactly happened. Just last night he was joking around with everyone before he went to bed. We can say with absolute certainty that he was not doing anything illegal. Please, out of respect to Casey and his family, don’t contribute or succumb to any gossip you may hear. We don’t want his memory to be tainted in the least. Casey was our best friend. He was quirky and awesome and there will truly be no others like him! His loss is unexplainable. As soon as we know more we will let you know.

WHAT THE!??! Nooooooo. I have seen them live twice and although I’m not a fan of any of their songs on CD they are amazing life. This is horrible.
Oh my god! this totally stinks. he was only 26. Hawthorne heights will never be the same again. RIP Casey Calvert!

This is my favorite band and I’m mad that I never got to see them in concert because they never came anywhere near Jackson, TN. I wish I could have seen them and I want to know if they will either find a new guitarist or the band will never play again.

It seems that no one has posted on the cause of Casey’s death. This is an excerpt from Metal Edge magazine (April 2008) on what they know about the subject. Also mentioned is the death of Quiet Riot frontman Kevin DuBrow; though not relevant to this subject, I didn’t feel comfortable cutting anything out of the excerpt.
“In the March issue, Metal Edge reported on the passings of Quiet Riot frontman Kevin DuBrow and Hawthorne Heights guitarist Casey Calvert. When the magazine went to press, the official causes for both deaths had yet to be determined. Since then, autopsy results have been revealed. Reports say that Calvert, who was found dead on the band’s tour bus on Nov. 24, died from the ‘acute combined effects of opiate, citalopram and clonazepam intoxication.” Although the type of opiate (which may have been a pain reliever) Calvert ingested is not known, the other two drugs found in his system were prescription medications intended to treat depression and anxiety.
“From the time of the incident, we suspected a possible drug interaction as the cause,” says drummer Eron Bucciarelli. “Casey wrestled with depression for as long as we knew him. He saw numerous doctors and took an ever-changing array of medicines to get better. He finally had his depression under control [before dying]… Casey was not involved in anything illegal, nor was he a substance abuser.”
i looked it up and well ya he died from a mixture of drugs which is written as “accidental” but im not sure he still might have been depressed and didnt want to tell anyone
