Britney Was a One-Week Wonder

britney-spears-crying.jpg

While first-week sales of Britney’s “Blackout” were promising, the album barely sold anything after that first week — despite good reviews!

The album has sold a total of 430,000 copies after a full month of release. Recall that she sold around 300,000 copies the first week. That means this album sold 130,000 copies over the course of three weeks.

Those are phenomenal numbers if you’re an unknown indie folk artist releasing a freshman album.

If you’re Britney Spears, that’s a bomb, kids. That’s a huuuuuuuuge bomb.

  • Back in the 80’s a well known group was caught lipsyncing to a vocal track (milli vanilli) and had their fame obliterated. Now it is completely acceptable to be a famous singer and never actual be able to sing ?

A message needs to be sent to these artists who cant really sing without major digital processing ! Dont buy their crappy albums !!

  • While I agree with you that the lipsyncing thing is old… you need to get your facts straight. Milli Vanilli was caught lipsyncing music that had actually been recorded by two other men.

  • if thealbum didnt sell thamany fuckin copies why are the songs being played every five minutes in chicago……….
