Zooey Deschanel is going to marry the dude that knocked her up

jacob pechenik zooey deschanel

The last time I checked, it was 2015, right? I’m not just imagining that? I wanted to double check, because some puritanical bullshit is still going down in this country whereby women are getting knocked up by dudes and then a week later, announcing that they’re engaged to said dude because, I dunno, I guess if you’re having a baby with someone, the Bible says he needs to be your husband? Nevermind that they’re doing it the wrong way around, but whatevs! Zooey Deschanel is marrying the father of her future child, Jacob Pechenik!

Love, marriage, and a baby carriage! Pregnant Zooey Deschanel is engaged to boyfriend Jacob Pechenik, her rep confirms to Us Weekly.

The happy news comes one week after the New Girl actress, 35, and her producer fiance, 42, confirmed that they’re expecting their first child together. Deschanel is due to give birth to the little one this summer.

Well, good for them, I guess. I’m sure this will totally be a long and fruitful marriage, considering it was borne out of the fact that she forgot to take her pill one morning or he didn’t pull out quick enough. Anyhoo… congrats!

  • Seriously Jennifer??? wtf
You recently wrote this judgemental post about Scott not marrying kourtney after 3 kids?

And now this shit? To your point (I guess???) Wtf does it matter in 2015 when and if people get married unless they want too. The point is you have a choice and there are many benefits to being married when it comes to starting a family. It’s not a huge feminist issue, or whatever it is you’re trying to make it out to be.

Some people want to get married without starting a family, before starting a family, after starting a family or never, regardless of having children.

    Girl, why you so angry?

    • I love that people think I actually give a shit about celebrity gossip outside of this celebrity gossip site, but okay :)

If you’re going to reference the Kardashian post, you could at least have read what I said – which was a response to SCOTT’s direct quote, not my own. HE said he’s too busy getting her pregnant to marry her, I thought it was a tacky comment. I don’t think they should ever get married – I don’t even think they should be having kids, considering he’s a self-involved alcoholic who seems to have very little hands-on time actually raising his kids. I don’t even know why I’m dignifying any of this with a response, but the comments here make me LOL on a daily basis.

And yes, I also think the trend of, “Oops, I got knocked up! Guess we need to get married now so we’re a proper nuclear family!” shit is outdated and laughable. I stand by that – that’s not a feminist issue, it’s a “human being with a brain” issue.
