Is Amanda Bynes Joining ‘Dancing With The Stars’?

amanda bynes

Dancing with the Stars is one of the shittiest reality shows on TV – though, hey, at least it’s consistent with its shittiness. It’s boring, it’s full of second-rate celebrities and it should really be taken off the air. But since it’s not going anywhere and people seem to love it, we might as well embrace it. Especially since recent reports suggest that Amanda Bynes is going to be on the next season of the show.

From Starcasm:

OK! Magazine had the initial report, which cited an “insider” as saying it’s “just a matter of working out the details.”

Star Magazine is also claiming Amanda is in talks to be on DWTS in its latest issue. It said Amanda wants to “change how the world sees her.” [Can't say I blame her]

Gossip Cop denies it, saying “She is not currently in negotiations.”

People did not confirm or deny, it merely stated she is doing much better, has her own apartment, is getting along with her parents and “is clear-headed, more focused and has more independence.”

This would totally make me watch the show, for sure. As in WILLINGLY. I don’t necessarily know that the pressure of a competition would be a great thing for her considering her fragile mental state, but eh, I guess people have bills to pay and it’s likely she’s missing the attention of the spotlight. Who can say?

Amanda Bynes conservatorship extended

amanda bynes

Amanda Bynes seems to be doing a bit better these days than the last time we checked in with her, but she’s still not out of the woods (and it’s unclear if she ever really will be). With that in mind, a judge in California ruled on Tuesday to extend the conservatorship over what’s left of her fortune until at least June 23, when another hearing will be held on the matter. Oh, and those DUI charges she was facing have also been dropped.

Her parents have control over her finances and medical needs for now, and while it seems like Amanda’s relationship with them has been less than stellar in the past, it has tended to improve when she’s getting proper mental health care.

From People:

“Amanda is doing much better from where she was months ago,” says a family source. “She has her own apartment and is much happier. She and her parents are getting along and Amanda is clear-headed, more focused and has more independence.”

For some reason, I find myself rooting for Amanda and always hoping that this time she gets better will be the one that sticks. Of course, with her level of mental illness, it will be a lifelong battle, but I also think that with proper support and guidance (and medication), she can manage to put together some semblance of a functional life. But she NEEDS to stay out of the spotlight. Hollywood is enough to make even the sanest person crazy, so for someone with real mental health issues, it can be downright fatal.

Amanda Bynes wants to be a psychologist

amanda bynes

Amanda Bynes recently got herself released from a mental health facility and despite exhibiting behaviour that pretty much proves she’s in need of serious professional help, she’s managed to sort of, kind of get it together a bit and hasn’t set anyone’s driveway on fire or threatened to kill her dad again recently. In fact, she’s doing so well that she apparently wants to go back to school… to study psychology.

Amanda Bynes has her sights set on USC and the psychology department … but this time not as a patient.

Amanda took a VIP tour of the campus Wednesday and we’re told she told the folks with whom she interacted she wanted to enroll in the school as a psych major.

It makes sense … Amanda has had more than her share of interactions with shrinks over the last two years. A staffer from the admissions department told TMZ … the school does not hold mental illness against any applicant … if they’re qualified and able to engage in studies, that’s all that matters.

As for her tour … several students saw her on the golf cart tooling around campus with headphones, singing “Roar” by Katy Perry.

A USC staffer tells us the earliest she could be admitted is next Fall.

I mean, I want to have high hopes for Amanda. I want to believe that she’s on her meds and stabilized and doing better, but when you’ve got as many issues as she does, it’s unpredictable and NEVER guaranteed to last. Don’t forget, the last time she got out of the mental health facility, she went back to school to study fashion design and then lost it again. I feel like she won’t ever make it into this USC program (or she probably wouldn’t be admitted), but who knows. Maybe it will work out for her, and I hope it does.

Amanda Bynes posted a new selfie on Twitter

amanda bynes

Amanda Bynes has been keeping it pretty low key lately (or at least the past few weeks), it seems – at least as far as the media attention goes – and hopefully that’s a sign that she’s doing better. Unfortunately, with mental illness, it’s a life-long struggle that you don’t just wake up one day completely recovered from – it doesn’t work like that. However, now she’s posted a new selfie in which she is looking lucid (and fashionable?) and hopefully it’s a sign that she’s on her meds and doing well.

Here’s the big part of this story, though, for me. US Weekly posted this photo with the caption, “Get it, girl! Amanda Bynes appears healthy, slim in new photo!” Uh… yes, she does appear slim, as she has battled with a severe eating disorder for many years. Who in the hell thinks that’s in good taste? This kind of publicity is exactly what reenforces this disordered behaviour. Like, what?

Anyway, I hope Amanda IS feeling healthier and on the path to a bit more normalcy, to say the least.

Amanda Bynes is sorry you found out about her wanting to murder her dad

amanda bynes

Look, I know Amanda Bynes is seriously mentally ill and in need of real, sustained help, but this is a celebrity gossip site and she is a celebrity. We’re reporting on it, okay? Okay. Last weekend her roommates released some audio recording of Amanda fantasizing about how she wants to kill her dad, and that made it clearer than ever that the girl is not only a danger to others, but to herself, as well. Things have finally gone too far for Amanda, and she’s decided to release a statement (to Access Hollywood, of all places) on the recordings.

“I’m sorry I trusted people who clearly were not my friends and capitalized on my illness. I am doing my best to get better. I am truly sorry for the statements I made. I am sorry for any pain I caused my family and others,” Amanda said in a statement released to Access by her attorney, David Esquibias.

“I am thankful for everyone’s patience and understanding. I never expected others to take advantage and profit from my condition. I’m disappointed with those who lulled me into a false sense of security only to find out they really are only interested in selling my privacy to the media.”

I mean, obviously these “friends” she was staying with are scumbags and she should get away from them (and into a mental health facility, but that’s neither here nor there), but also… she clearly was talking about hurting her family. While she later tweeted that she was “joking” (no doubt on the advice of her attorney), sorry… no one jokes about that. Especially not when they have a publicly acrimonious relationship with their parents. Someone get her some help soon, seriously.

Amanda Bynes On Her Father: “I Haven’t Decided How I’d Want To Murder Him”

Amanda Bynes

Amanda Bynes is not improving. Things just keep getting worse and worse for the troubled actress. Where we last left off in the Bynes Saga, Ms. Bynes’ parents had given up trying to get back conservatorship, and had moved on. Unfortunately, more troubles are going to follow them, as audio leaked of apparently Amanda Bynes describing how she’d kill her parents. It’s really sad. “Nothing would give me greater pleasure than, like, slitting his throat,” Bynes said, of her father. More, from TMZ:

Amanda Bynes dreams of murdering her dad, slitting her mom’s wrists and burning her house down, and she attacks a friend, telling him, “You’re so gay it hurts my feelings” … and it’s all on tape.

The audio was recorded a week ago by one of Amanda’s West Hollywood roommates as they drove. It’s the first time we’ve been able to hear Amanda’s ramblings when she goes off the rails.

The first audio is tirade against her parents, wishing them dead. The second audio is a rant that ends with a homophobic attack.

Members of Amanda’s family tell TMZ … they wanted us to post the audio … which could be a wake-up call for medical professionals to intervene and get her help.

Since they want us to share the audio, here it is. The first clip is her attack on her parents; the second is an attack on her roommates (those pour souls):

God, I feel so awful for her parents in all this. It’s gotta break their hearts. I can’t imagine what it must be like to hear your own daughter say such terrible things about you. But at least they know she’s not well, and it’s coming from an unhealthy place. If only Bynes wanted to get well. It doesn’t seem like she does.

Amanda Bynes, Bartender?

Amanda Bynes has been having some troubles lately, both mentally and financially. One man is willing to help her out with the latter, by offering her a job as a bartender. Uh, can we say, “worst idea ever”? Here’s the story, from TMZ:

Chad Weiner, the managing partner of State Social House in West Hollywood, tells TMZ … he’s got an apron and a bottle opener with Amanda’s name on it … all she needs to do is say yes.

TMZ broke the story … Amanda wants to live a “normal life,” and make some money — and she thinks bartending is the way to go.

Chad says his spot on the Strip is perfect for Amanda, since his staff knows her and would love to teach her the ropes. As for her schizophrenia … Chad has a pay it forward attitude — telling us he’d like to give Amanda a second chance, because he once got one when he was battling substance abuse.

Okay, look, I really do appreciate the sentiment here — the one of giving people second chances. But a bar is the last place Bynes needs to be. She can’t work at a bar, that’s like giving BoJack Horseman a job at a bar. And if you’re not watching BoJack Horseman, I suggest you start now, immediately. I think before Bynes needs a job, she needs a lot more mental stability in her life, and unfortunately, with the conservatorship fumbles, it looks like that won’t be happening any time soon. What a mess. This poor girl.
