Amanda Bynes had her driver’s license revoked sometime in the last couple of years in the midst of all the trouble she was having, but things are on the upswing as she’s got it back and now she can hit the road again!
In another sign she’s on the road to recovery, Amanda Bynes is legally allowed to drive again, DMV records show.
Bynes, 28, whose license was suspended after two hit-and-run charges and a DUI arrest in 2012, was spotted driving a black BMW with her father last Sunday around Los Angeles.
Two weeks ago, Bynes’s attorney Tamar Arminak said the actress-turned-fashion-student is currently free of any medication, although she remains in outpatient treatment.
Glad to hear she’s taking another step forward, for sure. She’s off her meds, though, so let’s hope she stays on that path and keeps getting better!

Oh man, this isn’t very good. Getting treatment for her mental health disorders was Amanda Bynes‘ saving grace, and now it seems like all that progress may just go down the tubes because her mother has taken her off ALL of her medication and her lawyer is claiming she was never schizophrenic at all.
First, here’s her lawyer Tamark Arminak’s statement:
“There has been much speculation about Amanda’s medical condition. She has remained silent because she believed it was best to keep her mental health diagnosis private.”
“However, she asked me to dispel certain rumors. For the record, Amanda does not have schizophrenia, nor has she ever been diagnosed with it. Amanda currently is on zero medication. She’s devoted to living her life as healthy as possible. She’s never had a history of abusing alcohol or hard drugs, and she’s proud to say she’s been marijuana-free for the past nine months.”
Oh man. Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt, as they say. Amanda’s mother, Lynn, even claims that literally EVERYTHING that happened to Amanda before going into treatment was the result of her smoking too much weed. Because, you know, being a stoner makes you want to soak your dog in gasoline, start fires in random people’s driveways, etc.
And, as TMZ points out:
– Amanda was placed on an LPS Hold last year after a judge heard evidence in the psychiatric hospital where she was being held. According to California law, someone can be placed on an LPS Hold only when the person remains “gravely disabled as the result of a mental disorder or impairment by chronic alcoholism.” As we reported, doctors presented evidence of grave mental illness.
– Amanda’s mom won a temporary conservatorship after a court-appointed investigator determined Amanda was severely mentally ill. The judge granted the conservatorship order not too long after Amanda soaked her dog in gasoline and almost lit it on fire.
– Amanda’s lawyers in both California and New York won delays in her criminal cases based on mental illness.
– Sources directly connected to Amanda and her treatment tell TMZ Amanda was given a complex Rx cocktail in a Ventura County psych hospital specifically for Schizophrenia.
– Amanda spent weeks at the UCLA psych ward and at times was so incoherent she had to be restrained. Amanda left after she became freaked out by other patients.
– Sources tell us, during Amanda’s stay at a Ventura County psych hospital, she would tell doctors about the “Bad Amanda” and mimicked an exorcism and began biting herself.
Dear God. It’s pretty clear that Amanda does indeed suffer from mental illness, and there’s nothing to be ashamed about there. She didn’t ask for it and it’s not her fault. However, it IS rather serious and she needs to be on medication unless the people around her down value her life (or perhaps their own, if it went far enough). Really, really sad to see this happening. I had such high hopes for her (and still do)!

Amanda Bynes has been doing so much better since leaving rehab – attending design school, patching up her relationship with her parents and generally getting her life together again. It’s been really heartening to see, but it’s not all hard work for Amanda. She got to go on a spring break trip to Cabo, Mexico, which was apparently a gift from her parents (and was a trip they accompanied her on).
It’s apparently a big deal that homegirl is wearing a bikini, and to be honest, it is good to see her looking healthier since we know she struggled with an eating disorder. I’m rooting for this girl – I hope it all works out for her!

Amanda Bynes is back on twitter, and she’s back to posting pics — but they’re totally normal. It looks like maybe she got the help she needed, because the girl seems well-adjusted and healthy, at least judging from the pics she posted. Though she’s had problems with her family in the past, these photos (above and below) show her smiling with her parents at an FIDM fashion show.
I think she realizes that anything she posts on Twitter is going to be carefully scrutinized, and I think it’s great she’s showing this happy side. Hopefully she knows what she’s doing. It seems like she’s on a good path. It seems like a completely different person.
Cannot even image what she had to go through to get here.

This is a bit of a weird one, I have to admit, and I don’t really know where to start. A homeless woman in Los Angeles has filed an insane lawsuit against a bunch of Hollywood stars including Amanda Bynes, Halle Berry, Armie Hammer and the entire Disney corporation… just to get them all into a courtroom so they’ll listen to her idea for a script. WHAT?
Let’s let TMZ explain…
Jo Anne Vandegriff — who describes herself as homeless — freely admits the suit is a ploy to get everyone in a room so she can sell her 2,000-page original Civil War romance mini-series, “Heaven’s Angels.”
Vandegriff describes her script as “an extraordinary work in its length, complexity, and scope, though not yet a masterpiece work.”
Vandegriff is targeting Disney because she wants to open up the studio — which she claims produces lily-white content — to Black and Hispanic females.
She doesn’t apologize for using the legal system to make a buck, because, as she says in the lawsuit, “a mini-series of this nature only comes along once every twenty to thirty years.”
So why sue Halle? Vandegriff wants her in the leading role. As for Amanda … it would be a great comeback for her. And Armie … he could finally be a leading man (and rid himself of the “Lone Ranger” stink — that’s our take).
And Vandegriff promises her script will help stimulate the economy … and promote “peace and harmony, health and happiness.”
Again, California’s legal system is a complete joke and we know it, but how is this even going to make it to court? How is this a real thing that isn’t just thrown out immediately for being absolutely ridiculous? WHAT IS HAPPENING IN LOS ANGELES?
Also, I feel particularly bad for Amanda here. She’s just getting her life together and then some asshole wants to pull her back into a load of bullshit. Ugh.

I’m not really sure how to feel about Amanda Bynes‘ return to the world of social networking. She’s doing so well since leaving rehab – she’s studying fashion design, spending time with her parents, receiving treatment for schizophrenia and Bipolar II and starting to get her life together again. Twitter is where a large part of her breakdown took place for all to see, so I’m not sure returning to it is a great idea, but here we are.
Amanda took to Twitter on Saturday to thank her longtime fans for sticking with her and to offer a mini update on what she’s got going on these days. She’s also deleted all but two of her previous tweets, which were retweets from followers. One of those is a picture of her as a Teletubby. Take from that what you will, I suppose.
Hi everyone! I’m busy studying at @FIDM but I want to say I love you to my fans! Xoxo Amanda
