Taylor Swift Finds It Easy to Keep Her Clothes On

taylor swift glamour

Don’t expect to see Taylor Swift naked anytime soon – she’s made it known that she’s not into stripping down and feels like it’s more fun to be naked… IN HER MUSIC (dun dun dunnnn!). Sure, many of her contemporaries like getting naked every chance they can, but not our Taylor. No, she’s pure as the driven snow!

From Glamour:

“I find it relatively easy to keep my clothes on because I don’t really feel like taking them off. It’s not an urge I have.”

“For me, ‘risky’ is revealing what really happened in my life through music. Risky is writing confessional songs and telling the true story about a person with enough details so everyone knows who that person is. That’s putting myself out there, maybe even more than taking my shirt off.”

Well, fair enough. I appreciate that she didn’t start naming names or trying to shame anyone who has taken a bit of a different path than her – seriously, that’s rare (not for her, just in general). Sure, I think it’s kinda silly that she thinks she’s being really “out there” with her songs, but hey, I’m a TaySwift fan…ish, so I’ll go with it.

Taylor Swift Embarrassed Herself, Thought She Won Daft Punk’s Grammy

taylor swift
I love Taylor Swift. I can’t help myself, I just do. Not in a way that means I listen to her albums – which I do have in my iTunes, by the way – any more than once a year or anything, but she does have some “jams” and I do find her to be sorta adorable. And I can see why, when you’re used to winning everything and always coming out on top, you’d sorta grow to expect it in a way… which I suppose is the only explanation for what happened last night.

As the coveted Album of the Year award was being announced at the Grammys on Sunday, Taylor preemptively got a little excited for her win… which wasn’t actually hers. In fact, the trophy went to Daft Punk, but Taylor’s face before she realises that is absolutely priceless. Seriously, take a look at this:

It’s slightly tragic – and yes, I know, it’ll be obnoxious to the Taylor haters  – but I think this is absolutely hilarious. Thankfully, her brain catches up with her face pretty quickly, but woo boy, it was tough going there for a second. Surely that deserves an award of its own, right?

Kanye West Used Sex, Alcohol and God to Get Over the Taylor Swift Incident

taylor swift kanyew est

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards may have been nearly five years ago, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still talk about that fateful day when Kanye West dared to interrupt Taylor Swift‘s acceptance speech by insisting that Beyoncé had the greatest video of all time? In a new interview with Steve McQueen for Interview, Kanye reflected on how he got over such a difficult time, especially with all the backlash he received.

MCQUEEN: But there must have been moments of doubt or depression or sadness. I mean, with what happened after the Taylor Swift incident [at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards] and all the negativity that came your way as the result of that. How did you deal with it all mentally, physically, and spiritually?

WEST: It’s funny that you would say “mentally, physically, spiritually” because my answer before you even said that was going to be “god, sex, and alcohol.”

MCQUEEN: People can get lost in all of those things. So how did you arrive where you are now after coming through that period?

WEST: Well, I don’t have an addictive personality, so that means that I can lean on what might be someone else’s vice just enough to make it through to the next day. You know, just enough religion, a half-cup of alcohol with some ice in it and a nice chaser, and then …

MCQUEEN: A lot of sex. [both laugh]

WEST: Yeah—a lot of sex. And then I’d make it to the next week.

Well, that’s… lovely. However, it wasn’t even the weirdest part of his interview. The weirdest part was when he compared being famous to space exploration:

MCQUEEN: I hate to put a stereotype on any profession, but there seems to be a certain loneliness associated with being a musician. Do you ever feel lonely?

WEST: Well, I’ve got my astronaut family. You know, becoming famous is like being catapulted into space—sometimes without a space suit. We’ve seen so many people combust, suffocate, get lost in all these different things. But to have an anchor of other astronauts and to make a little space family … I mean, it’s not like I’m the guy in The Hunger Games [2012] begging for people to like me. I’m almost the guy with the least amount of “likes.” I wanted a family. So god gives you opportunities, and you make sacrifices for something that’s greater.

All in all, this is one of Kanye’s sanest interviews, which I know isn’t saying much but it is at least an interesting look inside the mind of a delusional egomaniac. Well worth the read, but be warned – it’s a LONG one.

Taylor Swift Is In Trouble Over a Rock Wall

taylor swift

I’m sort of simplifying things here a bit, but here’s the gist: Taylor Swift bought a massive house in Watch Hill, Rhode Island and has been doing construction on the property, especially outside – she’s attempting to make the house more private by moving boulders along the coast (the house is along the water) to build a wall. The problem is, they don’t have a permit and apparently the moving of the boulders might eventually affect the coastline. Uh oh!

Here’s a photo of the house for reference:

And here’s a bit that appeared in Connecticut’s The Day newspaper, which is a bit snarky:

One giant machine, part crane, was lifting big appliance-size boulders up out of the ocean with its mechanical claw and moving them.

“That’s completely illegal,” said a young man standing next to me, some distance away from the Swift beachfront, on a public promontory.

Looking distraught, he added that he is a surfer and is sure the changes to the ocean bottom will impact the quality of surfing there.

If not illegal, I thought, the work sure must require a boatload of permits, rearranging the rocky coastline and all.

Imagine my surprise when I soon discovered that Swift has not obtained one single permit from the town for the cliff work, which could well be among the largest construction projects in Westerly right now.

The wall they’ve built is so big you could practically see it from Block Island on a clear day. (OK, maybe not. But it is big.)

Of course, it seems to have been a misunderstanding of sorts, as Laura Dwyer, spokeswoman for the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council talked to the Providence Journal about the whole thing:

“The larger boulders were historically there. We have photograph evidence from previous property owners that they were there, but they were covered with sand. When the applicant came in with plans, they were proposing to leave those rocks way out in the water. We were the ones who asked them to get those boulders as close to the seaward side of that concrete wall as possible.”

Well, that clears that up, I guess?
