“The last job I had was as an office manager in a little, tiny room where I literally wanted to strangle this guy because he was so loud and obnoxious. would go home with stress pains in my neck and my back. That’s when I went to my mother and said, ‘Look, I’m not going back to work.’ I’d been fired like 15 times because I had a horrible attitude. I worked at Red Lobster before that and I chased a customer out of the restaurant once so I could stick my middle finger up at her and demand that she give me my pen back. I swear to God I was bad.”
- Nicki Minaj in her Billboard Magazine interview, about what she did before she decided to focus on rap.
That Red Lobster story sounds like it could have been some of her best work.
Ahhhh! Today is such a big day! The cover of Nicki Minaj’s first LP has been released and I’M DYING.
You guys, I didn’t tell you this yet, but I was at the photo shoot for this album. The photographer she worked with, G.L. Wood, is a friend of a friend and I was able to get on set for the day, acting as G.L.’s life coach. I’ve been repping Nicki since 2008 and I completely idolize her, so it was obviously the best day of my life.
Nicki and G.L. make the perfect team. She wound up hiring him to shoot her album cover after they worked together on her Out Magazine profile.
The funny thing about the photo they wound up choosing is that everyone on set was sure that one of the other looks she wore would be the cover look. It was like a Gaga-meets-robot-meets-Statue of Liberty number. I’m thrilled they picked the photo they did because, yo:
I stole a piece of the dress off the floor when she went back into the dressing room to change.
I don’t think anyone would have minded. There was so much fabric everywhere that it’s not like I kept the part that’s meant to cover the person wearing it’s crotch or something.
But like, you guys… This is history right here.
Are you all equally blown away by the epicness of this cover?
J/K, mothafuckas! No one will ever love the Harajuku Barbie more than me, but do y’alls remember Danny Noriega? That really adorable and super duper gay boy that came in like, maybe fourth the year that the two David’s were finalists on American Idol?
Well, I may have possibly been doing a little bit of YouTube searching earlier today and come across the video above of Danny taking his best shot at Nicki Minaj’s verse on Kanye’s “Monster” track.
OK, that’s exactly what happened.
So then I started clicking around in the “related videos” section and I discovered that Lil DanDan has actually made like, MAD VIDEOS of him rapping along to Nicki Minaj. I support this so much that I’m not really going to critique the dude, but one thing that would really put these videos over the top is if he mastered the “eye-pop, overbite” look that Nicki does so well.
Also, check out him doing “Bottoms Up”:
Rest In Peace, Anna Nicole Smith is right.
Anyway, I find this to be just about one of the greatest things on the Internet right now.
I’m double dog daring you to top me with a better YouTube find in the comments.
Yo, writing that headline was like, my dream come true.
Young Money stars Nicki Minaj and Aubrey “Drake” Graham announced on Twitter today that they got married. Damn. If that comes as a surprise to you, well, duh. It was never even really confirmed that the two were a couple. Drake has addressed his big-ass crush on Nicki in interviews before, but they’d never been all like, “Yeah, we’re in a relationship and in a place in our lives where we’re considering marriage.”
The couple made the news public via their Twitter accounts:
Pretty exciting news, right?
Here’s the thing? The VMAs are coming up and both of them are nominated. They make music together. Nicki has her first big album coming out soon. Drake just had an album come out. They’re signed to the same record label, fa’ chrissakes. Doesn’t that seem a little bit like a crazy obvious publicity stunt? I mean, where’s tha proof, guys?!
I’ve made it more than clear that I am obsessed with rapper Nicki Minaj and I have been for a couple years now. She’s just one of the most fresh, animated and brave young MCs out there and if that wasn’t enough, her style and attitude are on point.
After watching this interview she did with MTV about her new video for “Your Love” (you probably can’t escape that on the radio), Nicki shows her full range, starting off earnest, getting quite cocky, adopting a British accent and then taking on the role of an evil queen. In a nutshell, Nicki’s working the cameras harder than the most well-trained Disney star these days. She knows what to do and what to say to keep everyone at home guessing and reporters totally baffled.
Personally, I love every minute of it as both a performer and a person who writes about wild celebrities, but how does like… America feel about it? How do the people who read this blog feel about that? Is it alienating, or do you agree that she’s the best thing to happen to pop culture in a minute?
“I made a conscious decision to try to tone down the sexiness. I want people—especially young girls—to know that in life, nothing is going to be based on sex appeal. You’ve got to have something else to go with that.”
Amen to everything you said. And how long before Kris, the mom from hell, puts a horse head in Kanye’s bed (fake horse head, ok, Peta) for stepping on her toes?

I’m thinking maybe Garrett Hedlund. He’s gorgeous. But I think he could play a broken man, too (in _Mockingjay_). The age is about right (since Finnick is older than Katniss and Peeta).
The last book came out four years ago, and it’s not like it’s some newly discovered series. People have been talking about what happened in the books for literal years. The points that I mentioned have been discussed over and over again,...
I’m a New Zealander, and Grant Bowler is well-known here, he was on a really popular Kiwi show called Outrageous Fortune, and he’s definitely chraismatic and a bit of a bad-ass. Shame he has to deal with Lindsanity… he was...
