Nick Carter tells TMZ … he WANTED to attend his sister’s funeral in NY this weekend, but his own family made it impossible for him to be there.

25-year-old Leslie Carter was laid to rest at a small ceremony in Upstate New York this weekend after a suspected prescription drug overdose. Several family members were present at the funeral, including Aaron Carter, but Nick was not.

Nick — who was on the road performing at a concert at the time of the ceremony — tells TMZ, “I wanted to be at my sister’s funeral, but my family has always had a complicated dynamic.”

Nick would not get specific about the circumstances … but sources close to the singer tell TMZ … he feels family members went out of their way to make sure he was not included.

Nick adds, “There are so many emotions for me surrounding the loss of my sister. I am trying to stay healthy, positive, and focused.”

We called Nick’s sister Ginger Carter for comment — she replied, “That’s not true,” and immediately hung up on us.

Others close to the “star” claim that Nick couldn’t be bothered to attend because he had issues of his own to face – like maintaining his career and selling $12 tickets to his crappy shows. Nick himself recently stated that he wouldn’t put the kibosh on his shitty little tour because he felt that continuing the music is what his late sister would have wanted (aside from, you know, not having mental issues and substance abuse problems and that whole untimely death thing):

“Performing is cathartic to me and I am dedicating the rest of my tour to my sister since she loved to watch me perform.”

Dude. I believe that like I believe that the Carters, generally speaking, are a stable, upstanding family much like the Lohans.

Bottom line? I think Nick Carter is a full-of-shit piece of shit. Seriously. I’m not sure that I’ve ever heard things so petty or so selfish in my life. Also? The Backstreet Boys sucked – especially you, Nick.

Leslie Carter – the sister of Nick and Aaron Carter – has died, a spokesperson for the Carter family has confirmed to Access Hollywood.

“Our family is grieving right now and it’s a private matter. We are deeply saddened for the loss of our beloved sister, daughter, and granddaughter, Leslie Carter,” the Carter family said in a statement to Access on Tuesday night. “We request the utmost privacy during this difficult time.”

Leslie, an aspiring singer, was 25.

She died earlier in the day on Tuesday in upstate New York. No further details on Leslie’s death were immediately available.

In 2008, she married her husband Mike.

In July 2010, Leslie reportedly announced on her Twitter page that she was pregnant with her first child. Leslie reportedly gave birth to daughter Alyssa Jane Ashton on April 1, 2011.

In 1999, Leslie reportedly signed a record deal with Dreamworks Records and began working on a debut album. However, the album was never released.

Her single, “Like Wow!,” was featured on the “Shrek” soundtrack in 2001.

Hm. That really sucks. When I first read the article, I was like, “Wow, those Carters just don’t have good luck with their careers, or staying clean and not looking like a jacked meth-head, or you know, living,” but then I read that she actually had stuff going for her, unlike her two brothers – a husband, a daughter – and that sort of make things even worse. I mean, damn. Her little daughter was only a year old. Not even a year old. That’s just terrible.

No official cause of death has been released, and in response to the news, Nick Carter has cancelled all of his scheduled musical appearances.

What a shame. RIP Leslie Carter.

Former Backstreet Boy Nick Carter is trying his hand at a solo career again and the video for his new single, “Just One Kiss”, has hit the nets. The clip is boring (nothing cheaper looking than a seaside video, if you ask me), but the single actually isn’t half bad. As in, I maybe wouldn’t change the station if I heard it come on the radio.

Nick’s always been the cutest BSB in my opinion, but after watching his reality show on E! a few years back, I was convinced thyat we’d never see a real comeback. Now I’m thinking that Nick may be able to stay at the Joey McIntyre level of “not totally successful but not a compete joke” level of fame.

You know, I gotta admit, he does look 100% better now that he’s healthy and not fat and yelling all the time. He was looking way gross toward the end there.

After 10 years of struggling with alcohol and drugs, Backstreet Boy Nick Carter knew he had a problem. But nothing could make him stop for more than a few months at a time – not a DUI, a bar brawl, or even his ballooning weight, which reached 224 lbs.

After experiencing mild chest discomfort and fatigue on while on tour with his band in Europe last spring, Carter scheduled a series of tests with a Florida cardiologist.

But the night before his results were due back, Carter, 29, fell into a familiar routine: “I went out and just went nuts,” Carter tells PEOPLE in its new issue. “I drank so much and I did a bunch of blow. I felt like I was trying to kill myself – because I didn’t want to get the results.”

The years of abusing his body led to a shocking diagnosis: cardiomyopathy, a weakening of the heart muscle that, in extreme cases, can require a transplant or lead to sudden death.

Faced with the realization that his life depended on getting sober, Carter made a decision: “I don’t want to die,” he says. “I don’t want to be that person people read about and think, ‘That’s sad that he couldn’t stop it and killed himself.’”

After a few slips early on – and some blunt talk from his cardiologist – Carter sobered up and got healthy. At 167 lbs., he’s now in the best shape of his life.

Today, says Carter, life is “awesome.”

Aww, ya know, I don’t even feel like talking shit. This is great news for Nick, and I like that he got sober without making a huge public deal about it. I’ve long felt that an addiction to fame goes hand-in-hand with an addiction to drugs for these people, and when they have a PR field day with their sobriety, it’s not very likely to stick. I hope he continues to live a healthy life and is able to set a positive example for his fans.

But 167 pounds? Is kind of small for a guy for my tastes. Sure, he’s cut, but put on some weight, Nick! I like my men BIG.

Seriously people, what happened to Aaron Carter? He used to be a cute little tween star who dated Hilary Duff and now, after watching an episode of “House of Carters” I am shocked. He looks strung out and is covered in tattoos. It is sad because he really has had a messed up home life.

I know that poor Aaron has been through a lot. In 2003, his mother and sister spoke out during the Michael Jackson hysteria and admitted that he had spent a night in the superstar’s Neverland Ranch. They publicly wondered if anything had happened between the two. I bet that was a healthy thing for Aaron, you know, to deny he was MOLESTED by Michael Jackson because his mother brought it up in the media. Following this, he also severed ties with his mother when he claimed that she took $100,000 out of his bank account.

This site claims that during the height of his teen fame Aaron spent “$1,500 to $2,000 on drugs every month.” This claim was substantiated by the National Enquirer who came out with the above picture of Aaron reportedly smoking pot when he was 15.

Then he proposes to his 22-year-old former-Playboy-model fiancee Kari Anne Peniche in Vegas and quickly takes it back. I hope Nick Carter is helping his little bro because his E! True Hollywood Story is on its way.

The latest stop on Nick’s “Fuck Paris Hilton/Watch My TV Show” tour is Britain’s News of the World, where Carter states that Paris “was a drunken prude who as far as I can see did not really like sex. She relied on drugs and drinks to give her confidence in the bedroom and was more often than not too wasted to even perform. I lost count of the nights I had to pick her off the floor and drag her to bed passed out.”

He accuses Hilton of smuggling drugs overseas, stating that “if she was going overseas, she’d cut a hole in her teddy and stuff it with cannabis. She had to have her own private stash with her at all times regardless of the consequences.”

Continues Carter: “The only thing that made her happy was her own reflection. She spends so much time looking at herself in the mirror telling herself how gorgeous she is.”

Keep it up, Nick. We’re digging it now.

Please, people, for the love of all that’s holy, watch House of Carters. Because he’s not going to stop until you do. And if we have to find out that he made a sex tape involving mice in condoms and Liza Minnelli, no one wins.

Nick — who’s been linked to Paris Hilton and Willa Ford — also says that “a lot of the girls I’ve had the best sex with or best anything with have been just normal girls.” And by “normal girls” he of course means “insecure groupies who’ll seriously put anything in their ass. Like, anything, guys.”
