Former (?) pop star Lily Allen has finally done it: she had a baby girl! (The father is Allen’s husband, London-based painter Sam Cooper.)

And some serious congratulations are in order, here. I don’t know if you remember all the crises Lily Allen has somehow lived through—celebrity gossip is a fickle mistress with a short memory—but there was a distinct phase of her stardom where she was out-Winehousing Amy Winehouse. It was actually kind of tough to keep the two straight for a minute there.

But once Allen domesticated herself—she has always been really open about wanting to get into a “family way”—she suffered, count ‘em, two miscarriages, all by the ripe old age of 25. And while I want to keep this blog light and airy, I can’t be too cavalier: for a woman who has issues with getting pregnant, a miscarriage is one hell of a way to have a dream deferred. Poor Lily.

But all’s well that ends well! In Lily’s own words, “Totes amaze.”

Did I miss something? How did I not know this? I mean, I know we’d speculated about it after she tied the knot back in June, but I wasn’t sure that it was an official thing. But hey. According to girlfriend‘s Twitter, she’s expecting, and she’s pretty far along, at least out of her first trimester, anyway:

“My husband just called me his ‘little Fat Controller’ – like off of Thomas the Tank Engine, so not LOL.”

This followed a comment made last week, also via Twitter:

“I can’t cross my legs any more, is that normal?”

Which is so funny, because I said the very same thing last night. Seriously. As I sat on the couch with a plate of pizza rolls, watching the Cowboys struggle to put a beat-down on the Redskins, I casually mentioned to my husband that I was no longer able to cross my legs, either. But that’s not because I’ve had too many pizza rolls (OK, well maybe a little bit), it’s because I’m almost twenty weeks pregnant as well. I’ve got little wiggle room left for these kinds of things, and apparently Lily’s in the same boat. I so hope she births this little baby; she’s been trying for so long, and there’s nothing – nothing – she’s been more serious about over the past few years than finally becoming a mama. Congrats, and good luck, girl!

I want nothing but the best for Lily Allen, and you should too. This girl had such a horrible time this past year, she deserves some happiness.  And boy, does she look happy.  Look at her, how adorable is she in these pictures?  Her little earmuff veil and her adorable smile?  I can’t handle all this adorable.

In addition to her wedding, she might also have another reason to be smiling, and that reason is a baby! According to The Daily Mail, Lily’s brand new husband, Sam Cooper, announced today at the wedding that Lily is pregnant again.  If that’s true, and judging by Lily’s choice in wedding dresses, it’s definitely a possibility, then this will be her third pregnancy – the first two ended in miscarriages. Let’s hope that if Lily is pregnant, everything goes well and everyone ends up happy and healthy and lovely, and if she’s not, then we can still hope the same.

A lot of people were all broken up when Lily Allen said that she was taking a hiatus from her music career to start delving further into the fashion world by opening up a vintage clothing store, but now that sneak-peeks of her designs are emerging (and getting a pretty positive response in general), those die-hard fans of hers just might have another reason to be stoked over girlfriend’s talents.

Lily and company have opened a store in the UK called Lucy in Disguise, and apparently, business has been so good that it’s beginning to necessitate some rad homemade designs from the equally-rad Lily herself.

Check out the sampler of designs in the gallery. Would you wear this stuff? I’m pretty partial to the green dress on the bottom right, I gotta say … the one with the cacti and horses, though? Unless I’m stunt doubling on a Hey Dude remake, not so much.

Lily Allen suffered her second miscarriage this year, but her half-sister Sarah Owens says that she and her partner Sam Cooper are expected to try again in the New Year. In an exclusive interview with The Daily Mail, Sarah spoke openly about her sister’s troubles and her desire to not give up on being a mom:

“New Year, new start. Losing the baby has totally devastated her, she’s still grieving. I didn’t realise the impact something like this could have on someone, and as a sister it’s been painful to watch. Lily won’t let this stop her, she is absolutely determined to be a mum. This is what she wants more than anything in the whole wide world, more than her singing career. It’s always been her dream. Lily hasn’t been in a great place, but she’s getting there. It’s been a long, hard road. She is in the country with her boyfriend and doing wholesome things. They’re going to start trying (for a baby) in the New Year.”

My heart breaks for Lily, not only as a fan, but as a woman who never wants to see another woman go through this sort of pain. She’s so young and there are so many options to help with fertility that I doubt she’ll be without a baby for long, but it’s hard to imagine the depth of the pain she’s experiencing.

Lily Allen has been having an incredibly horrible few days.  Earlier this week, the news broke that Lily had suffered a miscarriage, and now she’s in the hospital with septicaemia, a bacterial infection of the blood.  The infection, which was probably brought on by the miscarriage, can be fatal, but Lily’s doing well.  Her rep said that she’s “responding well to treatment and her condition continues to improve,” and that “Lily thanks everyone for their messages of support and again asks that she and partner Sam Cooper be left alone whilst she recovers.”

This just sounds like such an awful situation.  If you like to pray or chant or send positive energy or anything like that, I think it’d be nice to do some of that for Lily and women like her.

This is terrible news.

This week Lily Allen suffered her second miscarriage while six months along in her pregnancy. The retired singer also had a miscarriage in January 20o8.

Allen was rushed to a hospital on Thursday morning with pains in her stomach, but efforts to save the child failed. She announced in August that she and boyfriend Sam Cooper were expecting.

The statement from her rep: “It is with great sadness that we have to confirm that Lily Allen and Sam Cooper have lost their baby. The couple ask that their privacy be respected and that they be left alone at this deeply distressing time. No further comment will be made.”

Any time someone loses a baby it’s a tragedy, but Lily has really refocused her life after she suffered that first miscarriage. Quitting music and trying to open up a vintage shop was all a part of her greater plan to slip into obscurity and become a mother, and so I can only imagine how lost she’s feeling right now.

Thankfully there are so many options for a wealthy couple with fertility issues and Lily will still be able to make her dream of becoming a mom come true.

Allen announced today that she’s carrying a child, conceived with her boyfriend, Sam Cooper. This will be the first child for both parties.

Damn, and to think: it wasn’t all that long ago that Lily was flashing her multi-nipples, getting publicly inebriated, and picking fights with Sir Elton John. You’ve come a long way, girl. It gives people like Lindsay Lohan hope to hear about these things. Just, uh, don’t get any ideas, Linds. I’d hope that procreation is far, far at the bottom of your list — if even on it.

One kind of shocking move that was made on Lily’s part was deleting all of her famous friends from her phonebook. A source who spoke the The Daily Mail said that nixing her Hollywood pals was a move she needed to make. “Lily says she wants no part of the party stuff that goes with being in the public eye, and she wants to concentrate on starting a family. She believes the only way to start afresh is to cut all ties with her old showbiz mates. She prefers to hang out with Sam’s non-famous friends.”

Admittedly, if Lily’s thinking about having kids, “famous types” probably aren’t the best people for her to be hanging around, but I do hope that she’s not giving up too much of her old self to make her new life work. Normally when I hear of people discarding their old, valuable lives so that they’ll fit in better with a new lover, there’s some serious emotional abuse and self-esteem issues going on behind the scenes. Whatever she’s up to, I just hope she’s happy in the long run.

Yesterday in Hyde Park, Lily Allen performed what she called her last gig in the UK for quite some time. The singer (one of my faves) said that she was going to retire from the biz after her second album to concentrate on starting a family. This news was pretty upsetting to most of her fans, but like most retirements in this industry, I doubt Lily will stay out of the game for long.

Some London paps tried to capture a meta moment of Lily Allen yesterday while she snapped photos on her phone while walking around town. What they got instead was a whacky photobomber with an unfortunate t-shirt length (I mean I’m sorry, but the bottom of his stomach hanging out like that… it looks like a child’s ass.) I gotta say, it makes for a funny photo set, but photobombing ain’t cool. Messing up someone’s memories! What the hell is wrong with people?

Courtney Love and Lily Allen recently had it out at the NME Awards over a dress. Lily had a “lock” on Chanel that night, meaning that Chanel had agreed to dress her exclusively for the event. No one else could get Chanel, and Lily couldn’t be seen in anything else. Courtney also wanted to wear Chanel, but didn’t understand the concept of the lock or why Lily got it over her. The two have been throwing words back and forth at each other in the press for the past week, but Court did it better, as she always does when it comes to shit talking. She went nutso on her Twitter last night calling Lily every name in the book and accusing her of some not-so-savory behavior:

Um, I’m going to stay out of this. Who the hell cares if Lily Allen did a bunch of coke at Courtney Love’s house? Who cares about dresses? That award show was over a week ago! Courtney, per usual, is just making something out of nothing. Maybe concentrate on why your daughter refuses to live with you, Courtney.
