This image of comedy treasure Steve Carell ought to whet your interest in next year’s Burt Wonderstone, in which Carell stars as Burt Wonderstone.

The premise: a Vegas magician “breaks up with his longtime stage partner” (thank you, IMDb), and then a “new, ‘hip’ street magician” threatens the aging Wonderstone’s “relevance.” Hee hee!

Jim Carrey stars as Wonderstone’s professional nemesis, Steve Haines. Here he is as Steve Haines:

God, that is so perfect. Whoever designed the costumes and makeup freaking nailed it.

Like, I am a huge fan of “close magic,” but the humorlessness of no-frills street magic is so ripe for parody. Can anyone take Criss Angel seriously? He looks like a character from some vampire anime thing.

In the meantime, serial creeper Steve Buscemi shares top billing as “Anton Lovecraft.” Educated guess: Buscemi’s character is a practitioner of the Darkest Arts. Too, too funny.

There’s another reason you should be excited about Burt Wonderstone: the screenplay was penned by prodigy John Francis Daley. That’s right, the rosy-cheeked kid from Freaks and Geeks. He’s 26! Twenty-six years old! And he wrote Horrible Bosses! That is just marvelously nuts to me; good grief.

Guys, I honestly intended to post the pic of Carell in magician’s garb over the weekend, and I completely blanked. I continued to forget about this amazing photo of Carell until this very morning, when the photo, without comment, became the #1 story on Reddit. People are really excited for this movie, you guys!

You guys? Don’t tell Emma Stone, but the New York Post is pretty sure Jim Carrey is dating a lady. Jim has probably been dating her for a couple months, in fact.

The lady’s name is Anastasia Vitkina, she’s very pretty and blonde, and her first-ever tweet condemned an article about Jim Carrey. (So did her last-ever tweet, incidentally. Uh. She’s only tweeted twice ever.)

A little digging uncovers that Miss Vitkina attended the renowned Parsons School of Design. I don’t know if you know this, but Parsons is so prestigious, someone named an Ikea table after it. (Originally this was intended as a joke, but it is actually sort of true. Oh, well.)

What’s really weird is, in the hours since Page Six first posted the story about the new couple, the website has cropped Carrey’s new girlfriend out of the photo again. That’s right: she was once in the frame, and now she is not.

Honestly? This sort of thing always baffles me. DO PEOPLE WANT TO DATE OR DON’T THEY? You might have to go out in public with your rich boyfriend eventually, folks, and anyway, we are all living in a post-Facebook world. I mean, I myself am all for privacy, but seriously, now. Don’t act so embarrassed about having a boyfriend, you lucky lady, you.

Oh, and Eva Mendes. Because Eva Mendes is dating Ryan Gosling and she’s definitely sleeping with him because they’re serious enough that she shows up for a quick appearance in this video with him. Oh no, I didn’t just ruin this, did I?

I highly doubt it. Because few things are as lovable as Funny or Die’s Drunk History series, few works of Christmas art are as well known as “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas,” and few things are as creepy as the thought of Jim Carrey dressed as Santa Claus and breaking into your house. This video has everything.

This video makes me really angry.

Listen, drunk girls of New York City: I know you’re super excited. You’re so excited about everything. But the next time you are at legendary Rock and Roll Karaoke Night at Arlene’s Grocery, and Emmalovin’ Jim Carrey, freaking Jim Carrey, gets up to do a rousing rendition of Radiohead’s “Creep,” please, please refrain from screaming the lyrics—which, congratulations, you almost know!—over the top of the guy with the microphone.

I understand the instinct to scream all the lyrics. I do. But when I went to see Weird Al live in concert three months ago, I sat between two friends who knew all the lyrics and therefore sang all the lyrics. I knew all the lyrics, too! And it was hard for me to not sing along! But instead of hearing Weird Al, all I could hear was D on one side and M on the other side, and it was exactly like sitting in their living room and listening to them sing along with YouTube, as they do. Also, I briefly dated a guy whose excited “Hey! I know all the melodies!” scream-humming (yes, scream-humming, because there weren’t any lyrics) features prominently into every video I ever taped of the band the Advantage. THANKS A LOT, GUY-I-BRIEFLY-DATED.

OK, I watched the video a second time, and sure, maybe Girl-Singing-Along isn’t that loud. But in watching this shaky iPhone footage on YouTube, I am reliving the horror of A) being too short to see anything, and B) having to stand next to someone who also knows all the words.

Otherwise, this video rules. What do you think? Is Jim Carrey’s rendition of “Creep” better than Conan’s?

I say that with lots of love, guys, because Jim Carrey‘s like the brother I never had (OK – the brother I wish I’d had). I really felt for him during his very public breakup with Jenny McCarthy, because I think it hit him hard (and if you don’t, well then. You have some light reading to do, friends), and I think he’s ultra funny and entertaining. Plus, despite the fact that he’s a big, bad movie star with a repertoire a mile long, he does fun stuff in public with his daughter, and that speaks volumes.

However. Cyber-stalking our precious Emma Stone? I know she’s gorgeous and talented and funnyman in her own right, but practically asking for dates via YouTube isn’t exactly … oh, wait. Never mind. I positively frigging loved this.

Good luck, Jim – I hope you get your girl!

I know it’s been a minute since we’ve heard anything about Jim Carrey aside from the fact that he kind of went a little berserk after Jenny McCarthy broke up with him, but apparently boyfriend’s been busy filming a movie called Mr. Popper’s Penguins. The movie is about a real-estate developer who inherits a bunch of penguins and attempts to make them feel at home in his NYC apartment.

My favorite part of the trailer? Carrey and the penguins dancing to ‘Vanilla Ice.’ This is the classic Jim Carrey that everyone loves, and while I PROBABLY won’t see it in theaters, it’s definitely on the list for that random Friday or Saturday night when I’m sick or there’s nothing else to do.

Jim Carrey’s daughter Jane and her husband, Alex Santana, have decided to end their shot marriage and have filed for divorce. You may remember that not even a year ago, Jane was in the headlines after giving birth to the couple’s baby boy, Jackson Riley Santana. Her father’s spokesperson announced the split on the couples behalf, saying that they intend to “remain friends, as well as devoted parents to their 9-month-old son, Jackson Riley.”

With Jim and Jane both single for the first time in years, some serious father/daughter bonding is probably going on right now. According to The Daily Mail, Jane is currently visiting Jim on the set of his new movie. The two were photographed ice skating together yesterday.

The breakup between Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey is still pretty fresh — Carrey’s still experiencing the emotional fallout that’s been publicized through his very public Twitter account and now I think I know the reason behind his sad, sad feelings: ex-girlfriend McCarthy is apparently fucking some dude that has a really sketchy hairline and fishbowl eyes.

McCarthy and her hand-holding “friend” were photographed this past weekend outside of a Los Angeles club, where the former girlfriend of funnyman Jim Carrey was all smiles. She also had red-painted nails, which we all know is the color of the devil.

(Sorry, I watched The Village last night and I still have a slight aversion to the color red.)

Twitter is arguably the best and worst invention to ever happen to celebrities. Sure, we’re now able to interact with our favorite stars unlike we ever have before, but we also sometimes find out a little bit too much information (Lindsay Lohan, anyone?) Take Jim Carrey’s Twitter for example. We’ve always known him for being a funny guy, but between announcing his break-up with Jenny McCarthy on Twitter and now releasing his shitty artwork via Twitpic, I have to wonder how sane ol’ Jim is.

This painting, which he calls “Heart Upon Re-entry”, was posted to his Twitter last night and it’s title is most likely a nod to his recent break-up. It’s a fine painting, but definitely makes me wonder if one of my favorite comedic actors is actually an over-emotional mess. I know, it sounds like a harsh judgement, but I miss the days where I had no idea what the celebrities I loved were doing in their free time. I think that’s what gave them that mysterious, untouchable feeling that we used to associate more with famous types.

Anyone else feel like Twitter is blurring the divide between celebrities and us common folk?

Conan O’Brien kicked off his Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on TV Tour this weekend in LA (I have friends that went. I spaced on buying a ticket. I’m still not prepared to talk about it, really) and The Pale One totally delivered.

Since Jim Carrey and ex-girlfriend, Jenny McCarthy, announced that they were calling it quits on their relationship earlier last week, Carrey’s been a little, oh, “off the mark,” shall we say.

Carrey said what everyone else was definitely thinking blasted Elin Nordegren recently about “being in on the affairs” for money or some other notoriety-ridden agenda and since then, old Jimmy boy’s been spiraling off to a pit of Amy Winehouse-like craziness.

“Insiders” are concerned about Carrey’s behavior, especially since he’s continuously firing off Tweets similar to this one:

Today’s a pretty big news day for people like us, kind of. CoCo O’Brien signed a new deal with, of all stations, TBS, the Weinsteins had a “secret weekend meeting” that resulted in a $600 million dollar bid for Miramax, and Jim Carrey wants us all to know that he has his shit together. But there’s something much more important than all of that, you guys. My really awesome friend Blaire pointed me to something far more awesome (and NSFW) than all of that. It’s a video of some freakin’ amazing young man wearing his sisters clothes and singing and dancing to Rihanna’s “Rude Boy”.

I know that it’s only, what? April? There’s probably still snow on the ground in some parts of the country. I don’t know, I’m not a meteorologist. Point is: I think that we’ve already found the Summer 2010 anthem. I’m going to call it now. So what if this song came out like, two months ago? Rude Boy is a forever-jam.
