Someone sent me one of those Facebook surveys titled “Firsts.”  One question is, “What do you notice first about people?”  For me, it’s teeth.  If you have bad teeth, I can be your friend but I can never kiss you.

Jewel was on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night and shared all the ways a snaggletooth can be a girl’s best friend…all in the form of a PSA.

My stance hasn’t changed.

Being a contestant on Dancing With The Stars is really hazardous to one’s health.  Jewel is officially out.  She posted on all about the leg heartbreak on her blog:

Well, as many of you know I have been having trouble with my knees after rehearsing long hours for Dancing With The Stars. The doctors thought I had tendonitis, but when I wasn’t feeling better after some rest, I decided to get an MRI. When I heard the results I was in utter disbelief. The doctors told me that not one, but both of my legs were fractured!! He said my left one was particularly bad, and that I had to not only stop dancing, but stop walking and use crutches!!! He said I had just over done it with the rehearsals and training over the past few weeks and so my muscles became fatigued and transferred the overload of stress to the bones in my leg – causing the stress fractures! He says that type of injury can happen when athletes step up the amount or intensity of their training.  Typical me- I throw myself 1000% into anything I do- that’s how I went from being homeless to where I am today- but I just had no idea I could over-do dancing!

Shock does not begin to describe it. I am heartbroken to say I will not be competing in this season of Dancing With the Stars. I’m sad I won’t get to go through the rest of the experience competing with my husband, Ty. I don’t really know what to say. I am sad and mad and disappointed and just blown away at all that has happened. I also feel particularly upset for my partner Dmitry. This is his first season on the show and he put so much work and thoughtful effort into training me. I really wanted America to see what a great dancer, choreographer and teacher he is. This wasn’t the way I wanted to go, but my health must come first. And so it is with regret I will not be able to compete this season, but I will be there to cheer my husband on every step of the way- he will just have to dance for the both of us now!

The good news is that my doctors say with rest and care, I will recover completely with no long-term damage. I hope I will be able to come back and compete on the show another season after my injury heals and get the chance to team up with Dmitry once again to show America our cha-cha!

Okay, why am I laughing that Jewel has been walking around with two broken legs?  Ah…there is something seriously wrong with me.

Access Hollywood’s Nancy O’Dell is also out with a meniscus tear that will require surgery.  What the fuck do they have these C-listers doing at rehearsal?  What I find most amazing is that two fairly in shape women have been taken down by DWTS and lardball Steve Wozniak still stands.

After quietly dating rodeo man Ty Murray for ten years, Jewel finally tied the knot this weekend in the Bahamas.

“I dreamt about this day since I was a little girl on a ranch in Alaska,” Jewel said in a statement. “It was relaxed and romantic. I wore a traditional wedding gown and diamonds and he wore jeans and a button down shirt! Ty’s definitely my perfect prince.”

“We both have been so blessed in our lives,” Ty said. “We’re lucky to have each other and look forward to starting a family together.”

Why get married after ten years of dating?

She’s probably preggers already.

Thank God for small favors.

Jewel’s special brand of angst is coming to the country world!

She’s signed with a country label and plans to pursue life on the country charts.

“If I had been discovered now, living in my car in San Diego, I think I would have been signed as a country act,” she says. “As a singer/songwriter and as a storyteller, I’m old fashioned. I like a beginning middle and end to my songs. That’s pretty much just country radio now.”

Seriously, Jewel, you haven’t been living in your car for like 20 years now. You’ve been living on a sprawling ranch with a male model. Can we move on?
