Ok, I’m sure there’s some improv somewhere on TV right now, but nothing that matters.  Remember “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”  That mattered.

If you do remember “Whose Line” and you enjoyed it, then you’re probably going to be super glad to hear that the show Drew Carey is producing and starring in also features Ryan Stiles, Chip Esten, and Kathy Kinney.  It’s set to come on the Game Show Network next spring, and they’re going ahead and filming 40 episodes in Las Vegas.  Drew describes the show as “a lot more free-form” than “Whose Line,” saying that they’re going to rely on the audience much more.  Yes, yes and yes.

I can’t even describe the love I have for “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” because there’s far too much of it.  This new show is about seven steps beyond exciting.  The only thing that saddens me is that Colin Mochrie’s name hasn’t been mentioned yet.  He was amazing, right?

If you’re not picking up my hints, I’m trying to encourage “Whose Line” love in the comments.  It’s time for that.

Drew Carey goes all Michael Moore on your ass in this mini-documentary defending the use of medical marijuana.

I actually think this is really boring, but if you’re into this sort of thing, maybe it’ll interest you.

No, that’s not a picture of his fiancee — “recent culinary school graduate” Nicole Jaracz (I guess if you’re gonna marry Drew Carey you gotta know how to cook) — but it is a photo of Drew and none other than Kate Walsh! These photos are from 1998, when she accompanied him to the premiere of Godzilla. Craziness, right?

I couldn’t find a pic of Nicole, but Drew proposed October 9. This will be the first marriage for both.

Things are going just splendidly for Drew and Kate these days! Drew has a new fiancee, and a starring gig on The Price is Right, and Kate has a new husband and a starring gig on her very own prime-time show.

Maybe I should dye my hair red …

Drew Carey announced tonight on David Letterman that he would take over the spot Bob Barker left empty in June.

“I actually had lunch with an AP reporter today, we had a big, long lunch,” Carey said. “I couldn’t tell him anything because we were negotiating the deal. And they approached me right after the pilot for ‘Power of 10,’ and they called me, I said, ‘No.’ Then they called me a month later, they said, ‘What if we really’ — they called my agent: ‘What if we really go after Drew.’ This is like a month later after I did the pilot for ‘Power of 10’ and I said, ‘Well, what does that mean?’ and he said, ‘Well, you know, I mean, maybe this kind of money.’ I go, ‘What kind of schedule?’ He said, ‘I don’t know,’ so I met with them and stuff and we’ve been negotiating ever since. Couldn’t say anything, but during your ‘Harry Potter’ bit — honestly it was like 15 minutes ago — they called me. It’s a done deal. I’m the new host of ‘The Price Is Right.’”

“Well, history says that this will be a nice long career for you as the host of ‘The Price is Right,’” Letterman commented. Carey said, “It’s fun doing a show for years and years, isn’t it?” and Letterman concurred.

I wonder if Drew will be reminding us to get our pets spayed and neutered, too. It just won’t seem like the same show without that.
