Meet the 17-Year-Old Who DJ’d Jennifer Aniston’s 50th

He was just two-years-old when the "Friends" finale aired in 2004.

Which might explain why Ryan Anthony Robinson — AKA DJ Prince — doesn't sound like he's grasped the magnitude of DJing for Jennifer Aniston's 50th birthday at the tender age of 17.

However the Indianapolis native is well aware the actress is one of the biggest stars on the planet... he just sounds super cool when he talks about it.

"Someone from Jennifer's team reached out via direct message on Instagram asking if I wanted to do the party. They told me when and where — but they never told me who it was for. Next thing I knew I was on a flight to LA."

"She was super nice, had a great spirit," he said of the birthday girl. "Just a lot of hugs, very bubbly, energy, she was great overall."

"She told me that I did a great job and that she was very happy I kept her dancing, and that I kept everybody on the dance floor all night. She danced with me too!"

DJ Prince and Pharrell

While spinning for five hours straight as the sole source of music on the night, Prince shouldered alone the responsibility of entertaining some of the world's greatest entertainers, including Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams and the deity herself, Barbra Streisand.

He packed the floor with A-listers like Gwyneth Paltrow and George Clooney, and chatted with superstars like Robert Downey Jr and Brad Pitt. Jimmy Kimmel told him he was a fan.

Incidentally the "Friends" girls — Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow — were all there, but he didn't see any of the boys: David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry or Matt LeBlanc.

He even took requests: Ellen DeGeneres asked for some disco, while Perry demanded Beyonce.

"Everybody was dancing, having a good time, eating, drinking," he said. No-one was drinking too much of course, and if there were any hook-ups witnessed, Ryan displayed professionalism beyond his years by keeping it to himself.

As for any interactions between exes Jen and Brad, Ryan insists he was too focused on keeping the dancefloor moving to notice anything else. Brad did tell him though that he was "rocking it" and that he was having a really good time.

"Nothing really shocking, just a normal party with family and friends," Ryan smoothly added.

He did however notice that Ellen was probably the best dancer at the Sunset Tower Hotel on the night, closely followed by Pharrell. And the worst? "I couldn't tell, floor was too packed," he expertly sidestepped.

The music, he reveals, was everything from 70s, 80s, 90s, all the way up to today. Jen's team provided a general idea of what she liked "and I just took it from there". The actress did however make specific requests for Duran Duran and Wham.

He most definitely did not, he assures, play The Rembrandts' "I'll Be There For You."

And as for payment? "I was compensated pretty well, I'll just say that," he smiled.

Ryan has been DJing for the past six years; he got into it when his dad — who possesses an enormous collection of music — told him he didn't know what was going to happen to it when he died. Ryan told him: "I'll play it." So he went to DJ school. (Dry those eyes — Ryan's dad isn't dead or even dying).

He says he listens to J Cole, Calvin Harris, Chainsmokers, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, Ice Cube, and "just about everything — my music genres are all over the place."

While he says Jen's birthday bash was one of the highlights of his career so far, he also respectfully lists the times he's spun for heroes like DJ Jazzy Jeff, Big Daddy Kane, DJ Scratch, Bell Biv DeVoe, and Jermaine Dupri was up there with it.

He admits his all-time dream gig however is to DJ for Jay Z. And last weekend he surely got several steps closer.

"I did get a few phone numbers," he admitted. "I think I might have a few gigs in future."

The Jussie Smollett case still not clear

The investigation into the attack on Jussie Smollett continues.

A spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department told ET on Tuesday that detectives rejected the cell phone records the Empire star submitted via PDF one day earlier because they were heavily redacted.

According to police, a PDF is subject to manipulation, but they are not saying they have any evidence that Smollett manipulated his phone records -- detectives have now asked Smollett to submit his actual phone bill or a download of his entire phone. Police also told ET that detectives had recently obtained surveillance video from stores in the area where the attack happened to see if anyone bought rope around the time the incident occurred.

As the investigation continues, Smollett is still cooperating with detectives, and authorities are continuing to treat the actor as the victim of a hate crime, the spokesperson added.

A rep for Smollett told ET on Tuesday that the actor is "the victim here."

"Jussie has voluntarily provided his phone records from within an hour of the attack and given multiple statements to police. Chicago PD has repeatedly informed us that they find Jussie's account of what happened that night consistent and credible," the rep said. "Superintendent Johnson has been clear from day one that Jussie is a victim. We are continuing to work closely with the Chicago PD and remain confident that they will find Jussie's attackers and bring them to justice. Any redacted information was intended to protect the privacy of personal contacts or high-profile individuals not relevant to the attack."

A source previously said that Smollett was walking around Chicago in the early morning hours of Jan. 29, when two men started yelling racial and homophobic slurs at him, before repeatedly hitting him. The men then poured a substance on him -- believed to be bleach, according to the source -- and one of the attackers put a rope around his neck.

The Chicago Police Department claims they previously asked Smollett for his phone in an effort to corroborate certain details from his accounting of the incident, which includes him being on the phone with his talent manager, Brandon Z. Moore, when the attack occurred.

Smollett released a statement on Feb. 1 addressing the attack. The following day, he appeared on stage at his West Hollywood show at The Troubadour, telling fans that he was going to "stand strong."

Former ‘American Idol’ contestant facing federal drug charges

Former “American Idol” contestant Antonella Barba was working as a courier for a major drug ring and was trying to deliver nearly 2 pounds of the deadly synthetic opioid fentanyl when she was arrested in Virginia last year, according to new reports.

Barba, 32, was arrested Oct. 11 in downtown Norfolk and charged in a local court with one count of possession of more than 100 grams of heroin with intent to distribute it.

She had been out on bond while awaiting trial, but was taken back into custody on a federal indictment unsealed Monday that accuses her of conspiracy to distribute cocaine, heroin and fentanyl, the Virginian-Pilot reported.

Barba, who also has a felony marijuana case pending in Kansas, was one of several members of a drug conspiracy that was active in Hampton Roads from at least late 2017 through the fall of 2018, the newspaper reported.

The indictment, large portions of which remain redacted, also names Justin Michael Isaac and Rawl Christopher Stennett, a man whom court documents tie to three Social Security numbers and three dates of birth.

An unnamed cohort used an apartment on Granby Street in September 2017 to stash cocaine, heroin and money, according to the indictment, which also outlines several small drug sales in Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Norfolk and Virginia Beach.

Burning Man CEO puts the kybosh on elite party goers

Marian Goodell, the CEO of the non profit artist event called Burning Man, has issued a stern warning to those using the annual party to shill for designers and turn the art showcases into photo shoot back drops for profit.

In a long needed blog post Goodell expressed her concern for the state of the event writing, " One of the most distressing trends is the increase of participants (both new and experienced) who don’t seem invested in co-creating Black Rock City, and are attending as consumers. Mass consumption in our default world, ticket scarcity and some elaborate luxury camps have contributed to the rise of a playa “convenience culture.” In some cases, camps or companies are offering “all inclusive” pre-packaged Burning Man experiences, claiming they will preemptively meet all of their client’s needs. Burning Man is anything but convenient, and therein lies its transformative potential!"

Changes for 2019 tickets will include:

  • Moving the ‘Pre-Sale’ to after the Directed Group Sale. We are prioritizing the Directed Group Sale since it supports key contributors to Black Rock City (theme and mutant vehicle camps, art collectives, and core teams).
  • Growing the Directed Group Sale. There will be 10% more tickets allocated to the Directed Group Sales. Meaningful participation is the most valuable currency in Black Rock City.
  • Expanding Low Income allocation. In our ongoing effort to enable participants with limited budgets, we’re growing the application-based Low Income Ticket Program by 18%.
  • Adjusting high-priced ticket sales. There will be one high-priced ticket level and we’re reducing the overall number available by 30%. Higher-priced tickets will now be limited to 2 per person instead of 4 per high-priced tier, and buyers in what was formerly the “Pre-Sale” will no longer be able to participate in subsequent public sales.
  • Eliminating the ‘Limited Sale.’ For the past two years one could purchase $1,200 tickets via Burner Profiles into July. This will no longer be the case.

Disney Channel show has teen character tell his friends ‘I’m Gay’ in network first

The show 'Andi Mack' is a coming of age story on Disney Channel that often deals with subjects deemed taboo for the younger set. This past weekend was no different.

On Friday Cyrus Goodman, played by actor Joshua Rush, became the first Disney Channel character to utter the words; 'I'm gay' in an episode. The decision to include a gay story arc earlier in season two is also a first for the network.

'Every day is a blessing working on this show,' Rush tweeted along with the clip of the scene. 'This milestone is just another stitch in a rich and vibrant tapestry that is Cyrus Goodman. '

On Friday’s episode, titled One in a Minyan, the show’s lead characters were seen attending the shiva of Goodman’s grandmother, Bubbe Rose.

While walking around a buffet and naming a few of the dishes, Goodman turned to Jonah Beck and uttered the words: 'I'm Gay,' without hesitation.

After a couple of seconds of silence, Beck offered up a smile and replied, 'Yeah? Cool.'

From there, the scene just rolled on, seamlessly, in order to make the revelation seem as normal as any other conversation between friends.

Ok... Maybe no NO reaction:

Justin Theroux sends bday message to Jen and it seems sad

By ALL accounts.... and I mean ALL... Justin Theroux is the sweetest man and a genuine friend. So it made me sad to see his well wishing to ex Jen Aniston on her 50th birthday.

Hear me out. His message is respectful and kind and totally appropriate. Positive. But then he ends with "<3 you B". B? I feel certain (who am I? Take my assumption as just that), but I am 100% certain that "B" is an abbreviated pet name. Even if it was just short for "Bae" or something basic like that. It's his name for her and that feels awfully personal and makes me feel as if Justin is sending her a message that he still loves her. Brad at her party must have really put him in a spin.

Presidential candidate Kamala Harris says she has smoked pot and wants it legal

Democratic Sen. Kamala Harris, who launched her presidential campaign last month, said Monday morning that she smoked marijuana in college, wants it legalized and remembers what it felt like to be high.

'I have. And I inhaled. I did inhale. It was a long time ago, but yes. I just broke news!' Harris said through a cascade of laughter on New York City's hip-hop radio program 'The Breakfast Club.'

'You know, I joke about it – half joke – but half my family's from Jamaica! Are you kidding me?

'It was a joint,' Harris recalled, saying that she remember what it felt like to be high on the drug.

'Listen: I think it gives a lot of people joy, and we need more joy!' she laughed later in the interview.

Harris said she has long been an advocate for states legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes, and now ants ot legalized in general.

'I think we need to legalize marijuana,' she said Monday, adding that 'we need to move it on the schedule so that we can research the impact of weed on a developing brain.'

'Not all drugs are the same,' she insisted, while suggesting that criminalizing weed has disproportinately affected black men in America's criminal justice system.

Katy Perry ‘Blackface’ shoes are being pulled from shelves

People people! We got to start using out heads a little better here. The first thing I saw when seeing these shoes was blackface. But ok, maybe Katy isn't as woke as some others. Is there no one editing over there???

The pop star recently released a new line of shoes, and two of them — the “Rue Face Slip On Loafers” and “Ora Face Block Heel Sandal” — have sparked outrage for its achingly brutal similarities to the historical “blackface” appearance.

According to TMZ, the shoes won’t be on the shelves for long as a source tells them, “In order to be respectful and sensitive the team is in the process of pulling the shoes.” (No word on if Virginia’s governor was able to secure a pair before they ceased availability.)

We really have to do better than this. Remember that it's not about how you intend it, but how it's perceived.

Meghan Markle’s father reveals letter she sent him

photo cred: Daily Express

Honestly. What an asshole this guy is.

Shortly after Meghan Markle‘s friends addressed an emotional letter sent by the Duchess of Sussex to Thomas Markle following her May nuptials to Prince Harry, the royal’s estranged father revealed the contents of the five-page note to The Mail on Sunday.

“Daddy, it is with a heavy heart that I write this, not understanding why you have chosen to take this path, turning a blind eye to the pain you are causing,” Meghan, 37, wrote in August 2018.

“Your actions have broken my heart into a million pieces — not simply because you have manufactured such unnecessary and unwarranted pain, but by making the choice to not tell the truth as you are puppeteered in this. Something I will never understand,” the note continued.

Members of Meghan’s inner circle told People the mom-to-be penned a note to Thomas, 74, following the fallout over a stage photo scandal last spring, in which the Duchess’ estranged half-sister, Samantha Markle, took responsibility.

“She’s like, ‘Dad, I’m so heartbroken. I love you. I have one father. Please stop victimizing me through the media so we can repair our relationship.’ Because every time her team has to come to her and fact-check something [he has said], it’s an arrow to the heart,” the insider told the outlet.

“He writes her a really long letter in return, and he closes it by requesting a photo op with her. And she feels like, ‘That’s the opposite of what I’m saying. I’m telling you I don’t want to communicate through the media, and you’re asking me to communicate through the media. Did you hear anything I said?’ It’s almost like they’re ships passing.”

“You’ve told the press that you called me to say you weren’t coming to the wedding — that didn’t happen because you never called,” the letter read.

“I have only ever loved, protected, and defended you, offering whatever financial support I could, worrying about your health. So the week of the wedding to hear about you having a heart attack through a tabloid was horrifying. I called and texted … I begged you to accept help — we sent someone to your home … and instead of speaking to me to accept this or any help, you stopped answering your phone and chose to only speak to tabloids,” she continued.

Meghan begged her father to “stop creating so much pain.”

“Please stop exploiting my relationship with my husband … I realize you are so far down this rabbit hole that you feel (or may feel) there’s no way out, but if you take a moment to pause I think you’ll see that being able to live with a clear conscience is more valuable than any payment in the world,” she shared.

Ronan Farrow says National Enquirer tried to blackmail him

(Photo by Bryan Bedder/Getty Images for GQ)

This week Jeff Bezos announced the National Enquirer was attempting to blackmail him with nude selfie they had in their possession. Now Ronan Farrow says the tabloid also attempted to blackmail him.

“I and at least one other prominent journalist involved in breaking stories about the National Enquirer’s arrangement with Trump fielded similar ‘stop digging or we’ll ruin you’ blackmail efforts from AMI,” Farrow tweeted Thursday evening.

“(I did not engage as I don’t cut deals with subjects of ongoing reporting.)”

Earlier Thursday, the Amazon CEO alleged that American Media Inc. — the Enquirer’s parent company — threatened to publish a nude photo of him if he didn’t stop investigating the magazine’s exposure of his affair and publicly declare that its reporting hadn’t been “politically motivated.”

AMI — which is run by David Pecker, a longtime pal of President Trump — has admitted to buying the rights to potentially embarrassing stories about the commander-in-chief in an effort to keep them from seeing the light of day.

In an April 2018 piece for The New Yorker, Farrow detailed the relationship between Pecker and Trump and said the magazine bought and buried stories to help his 2016 presidential campaign.

Wendy Williams afraid she’ll lose her show

Wendy Williams is “super scared” about losing her show, we’re told.

Sources said that the beloved daytime-TV host — who has been absent from her eponymous syndicated show since December for a number of reasons — is unsettled by the apparent success of her stand-ins, and she’s becoming concerned that she won’t be able to make it back on the air in time to save her gig.

“She’s super scared and anxious,” said an insider. “Watching [fill-in host] Nick Cannon being a huge hit with her audience is tough for her. They’re already starting to mess with the format. It’s like watching them screw around with her baby.”

Cannon filled in for Williams Monday through Wednesday this week, and won positive reviews.

“American Pie” actor Jason Biggs hosted Thursday’s edition of the show, and other guests hosts are booked through Feb. 15.

The reasons for Williams’ absence are somewhat murky. Her family announced in January that she had been hospitalized because of complications related to her Graves’ disease. She also fractured her shoulder in December, and she hosted her last appearances on the show wearing a sling.

But there have been persistent rumors that she’s also having personal difficulties involving her husband and the executive producer of the show, Kevin Hunter. Williams seemed to address that issue in a conversation with Cannon, and Cannon then related to the program’s audience that Williams had told him that “she wanted to speak as a family unit and her, Kevin and [their son] Little Kevin said they are all good.”

But, for all her insecurities, Williams can’t rush back now to retake the reins, said a source. “She’s in no state to get back on TV anytime soon,” the source said.
