Gwyneth Paltrow Rips it Up at Last Night’s CMT Awards With Country Strong

So here it is, the moment you've all been waiting for. Unless, of course, you watched the CMT Awards live last night, and then you wouldn't be so surprised, now would you. Gwyneth Paltrow, above, performed the title song to her latest movie, Country Strong, which debuts on January 7th, 2011, at last night's CMT Awards, and received a standing ovation from the crowd. We all know that Gwynnie can carry a tune a little ways, and she's not a horrible singer, but I think that the majority of the whole standing O thing was s...

That Crappy-Looking Gwyneth Paltrow Movie, Country Strong Isn’t Going Anywhere, Guys, Sorry

Here's the official trailer, and it's every bit as good as the music video for the song of the same name (crazily enough, written for the movie), so now that you've seen all of this? You have absolutely no reason to go and see the film when it makes it's debut on January 7th. But do watch tomorrow night's CMT awards. Gwynnie is slated to perform Country Strong there live. And 'live' supposedly means without the help of auto-tune or lip-synching, and yes, I had to look that up. Will you guys see this movie, or do you think it's a total crapshoot? /> Here's the official trailer, and it's every bit as good as the music video for the song of the same name (crazily enough, written for the movie), so now that you've seen all of this? Steven Tyler Releases Country Song: Thinks Country Is “The New Rock ‘N’ Roll”

Steven Tyler Steven Tyler is good at lots of things: screaming mid-song, dressing like a hipster Colonel Sanders, and being creepy, but is he good at country music? I'll leave that for you to decide. Tyler released a new country single, "Love Is Your Name" in May, and the video for it is out now. Observe: If you like scarves, this is the music video for you! Rolling Stone calls it "out-of-the-box." Naw, I think it's pretty much right in the middle of the damn box. Why country? As he told the m...

Why won’t Miley Cyrus do a country album?

miley cyrus I know I'm late on the uptake here, but I'm a busy lady so I only watched the SNL 40 special yesterday on Hulu+ (newsflash: it kinda sucked). The best thing about the show was Miley Cyrus - a sentence I never thought I'd utter - and her performance of '50 Ways to Leave Your Lover'. This performance was really, REALLY good. In fact, it's way better than any of her other shit from the last album, or anything before that, either. It's mature, it's unique, it's... actually impressive. Why won'...

Quotables: Justin Timberlake Wants to Be a Country Star

justin timberlake Justin Timberlake was on Sirius XFM's The Highway earlier this week, where he declared that his dreams of being a country superstar are "still alive". On The 20/20 Experience - Part 2, he's got a song called 'Drink You Away', which is apparently country inspired... but he doesn't want to stop there! "I just did an interview earlier today and I said 'I'm America, that's what I am - in all sense of the word'. I grew up outside of Memphis, Tennessee, and I listened to country music, R&B music,...

Shia LaBeouf Took the Wrong Drug to Prepare for ‘Charlie Countryman’

shia labeouf charlie countryman Is there a bigger toolbox in the world than Shia LaBeouf? I know that's a difficult question to answer when people like Justin Bieber and Chris Brown exist, but I feel like they're in a different league. Shia is just... corny, and a total dickhead who doesn't realise he's a dickhead, he thinks he's being "artsy". That's why, in preparation for his role in Charlie Countryman, he decided to drop acid to really get into his character's head. One problem with that: the character never took acid, he too...

Taylor Swift Thanks Country Music For Letting Her “Evolve” To Pop

taylor swift Taylor Swift has come a long way from the country bumpkin she once (read: never) was. She's a full-blown pop star now, and it was her latest album, Red, and the single 'We Are Never Ever Ever Getting Back Together' that really marked her crossover. I like TSwift and yes, even her music, but you can imagine some country fans might not be too happy with her decision to move further away from her musical roots. Not so! Taylor actually thinks country fans have been super supportive and have contri...

Ashton Kutcher Likes Country Music But It Don’t Like Him

ashton kutcher I'm not sure what's the bigger surprise here, that Ashton Kutcher likes country music enough to go an entire festival dedicated to it or that he got in a fight while there with a security guard. (Hint: neither is all that shocking.) Anyway, both happened last weekend, as Mr Punk'd headed to the Stagecoach festival in Indio, California (home of Coachella, where all other celebrities in existence were earlier this month) and got into it with an "overzealous" member of the security team while he wa...

Hayden Panettiere Has That Country Flair That Cotton Loves

Hayden Panettiere Hayden Panettiere doesn't particularly emanate straw chewin', banjo playin' vibes, but she plays a country singer in Nashville and that's good enough for Cotton! They've cast her in their new 'Fabric Of Our Lives' ad campaign, where she'll give a country rendition of the company's theme. Well... that's special. From WWD: The new campaign has a budget of around $20 million, according to a Cotton Inc. spokesman. The commercials featuring Panettiere in various scenes — choosing an outfit in her walk-in closet, having fun at a nightclub, sho...

Taylor Swift Came on Way Too Strong, Scared Her Kennedy Away

A photo of Taylor Swift and Conor Kennedy From Radar: Taylor Swift and Conor Kennedy have called it quits, and a source close to the couple exclusively tells RadarOnline.com it's because the country star came on way too serious, way too fast. "Conor's just an 18-year-old kid and wasn't ready for anything super serious, but Taylor is looking for her soulmate and it kind of freaked him out with how strong she came on," the insider revealed. "Taylor is obsessed with the Kennedys and was living out a fairytale with Conor. But she ...
