I wrote earlier today about the outfit Jess wore to her David Letterman appearance — a lot of you loved it, but I still think it’s kind of ridic.
Now that we actually have footage of Jessica on the show — talking about Tony Romo and John Mayer (“He gave away my game!!), among other things — I have a very important question: Why can’t she talk like a normal human being??? Doesn’t it seem like she’s holding her mouth a little tight? It doesn’t look like she recently got Botox or anything, but there’s definitely something odd going on.
That said, it’s a pretty adorable interview, and I like her a lot more after watching it.
Lastly: How fucking amazing is the quality on YouTube these days??? This is a damn sharp video. Pretty soon I’ll be able to sit in bed all day and my entire life will just play out over the Internet. Oh, wait. That already happened.

I think the mouth thing you’ve mentioned is a combination of 1) trying not to get lipstick on her teeth and 2) the fact that she does kind of pucker her lips when she talks to begin with.
It looks like she had a problem with her jaw or just had dental work done or something. It’s very bizarre!
I didn’t really notice the mouth thing because I was way too distracted by her nose. Did she have a nose job a while back?? I know Ashley did but I don’t recall hearing about Jessica’s. It used to be longer with a prominent bump in the middle back in the Newlyweds days – it looks way smaller and more feminine now, don’t you think?
Maybe she was nervous. Lots of people purse their lips or clench thier jaw when nervous.
Ya’ll some hatin’ bitches. She’s nervous ’cause Letterman is a known sex offender and she has to be around him and smell his sex. You sit in a super cold studio with that rapist staring at your goods and drool running out the corner of his mouth. Just reporting the facts.

god, letterman is such a douchebag. why was she so gracious? i would have been like, “let’s talk about your relationship with stephanie birkitt.” he of all people should NOT be prying into people’s personal lives and romantic relationships.
Well, she did go on Letterman for an interview. She has nothing going on in her career so of course that’s what he’s going to ask about. All she’s notorious for is her love life.
Agreed w/ Maria. And what do you mean by ‘prying’? He wasn’t prying hard at ALL. She was offering up tidbits of how wonderful Tony is, and his cute butt, and making jokes about Mayer’s comments. She seemed to be enjoying it. And she knew good and well that Letterman would ask about the only things that have been keeping her in the news lately, aside from her appearance on his show.
She’s always done that thing with her mouth. It happens when she’s trying too hard to be cute.
She just has a weird mouth. Have you ever watching her sing? I can’t. Her mouth goes all wonky and I have to change the channel. Weird mouth aside, she’s a beautiful and lovely gal.
I hate her stupid laugh. And I’ve always found her neck twitching constantly more distracting. It’s like a frickin chicken.
I think she always talks like that.
I think her face and reaction when he first brings up John Mayer is priceless. I loved it.
And it doesn’t matter that she’s gained weight. She is far from fat and wears her curves well.
I agree with Casey. Sadly, I’m guilty of making that unattractive, awkward face after applying glossy lipstick in an attempt to keep it off my teeth.
I think she looks great!
Also did you see where she brought out her new line of perfume…..Sexual Napalm?

It looks like her face doesn’t move in the favored botox spots. THAT could be the problem.
i for one am a raging asshole, so i hate to admit it but…..i LIKE this girl now! she’s super rad – i’d party with her curvy ass any damn day!
I think she is fantastic and is one strong woman! I did notice the bizzare jaw thing but hey she still looks like a 10 to me!
probably she was eating a candy or so. I have shot video scenes with jessica simpson and she always do that.
It was a lollipop, not a candy.
It’s months and months after this interview, and everytime I watch her… her mouth is still in the same weird position. It seems as though it started right around this time… I’m still saying wtf, so I finally googled it to make sure I wasn’t crazy and other people where noticing the same irritating gesture.
