Gwen Stefani Gets Dressed for Malaysia

After the singer took heat from critics in Malaysia who claimed her show was too sexual for the Muslim-majority country, she made some adjustments.

She burst onto the stage wearing a black leotard under a white short-sleeved shirt and black-and-white striped hot pants suit, with black gloves up to her elbows.

“I am very inspired tonight,” Stefani told some 7,000 cheering fans at an indoor stadium.

When Stefani announced tour dates in Malaysia, the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party accused her of promoting promiscuity and corrupting the country’s youth and the National Union of Malaysian Muslim Students claimed that her skimpy outfits and cheeky performances clashed with Islamic values.

“I’ve been in the music industry for 20 years and this is the first time that I’m facing opposition from people who have misunderstood me,” she was told an interviewer from a local magazine. “I’m not a bad girl.”

  • The religious zealots should go to mosque (or church or temple, ect.) and let Gwen Stefani put on her show! Most of the countries that complain about her outfits are the same ones with children for sale. Work on that problem first.

  • Personally if it was me, I never would have scheduled a concert there in the first place. But she proved a point, and she didn’t disappoint her fans. I saw her in concert last month and she was damn good. I hate that she couldn’t interact with the audience (jump in the audience to sing a song, jump up and down, curse out loud, etc.). This concert was for her fans, muslim and non-muslim alike. If she wants to continue to sell records, she has to do what is necessary.

By the way, not ALL muslim countries are SO strict in their code for female performers. See Egypt, Jordan, and Turkey for liberal examples.

  • Perhaps, Clementines, the part where the (one assumes Malaysian-owned) promoter and venues booked her, knowing her performance and dress style, and sold some 7000 tickets for one show alone – all the while blithely ignoring said ‘Islamic values’? It seems the Pan-Malaysian Islamic party don’t speak for everyone.

She only did what she was contracted to do.

  • Who cares about the backward Islamic laws. I simply don’t understand how this no-talent cooze is at all popular. Crap voice, crap face, crap clothes- I dismiss.

  • I think its time DarthPaul (whatever kind of lame ass name that is) ate a slice of humble fucking pie!I take it your the type that listens to crappy music with no personality right? And what the hell is a cooze? Is it some lame internet slang you made up?Nice

Gwen is getting critisism from YOU

I think things are a little backwards

  • firstly DARTHPAUL CAN GO AND GET FUCKED, go lock yourself in the tiny dark room of yours and lisen to some huge screaming mass of shit on that little cd player that was a hand down from your older sister and cry your sorry arse to sleep, if u were so god damn against gwen stefani then what the hell were you doing reading this artical in the first place you loser.

as for the concert i think the rules and regulations on the islamic laws are there for a reason and she wouldnt of intensionally gone and screwed with them. the fact that she changed her act, costumes and lyrics just goes to she would go to large extremes to perform for her fans at any location over the world.

  • m’sia this one cannot that one cannot. keep emphasizing on their religious issue like ”MAN”!!…

even im a muslim , yea, we muslim have our moral values , but i feel before you pinpoint at others to chnge their outfit to suit the situation . so as not to bring ‘maksiat’ as to what i think,

b4 pinpointing @ others its better u work on urself FIRST.
