Today's Evil Beet Gossip

Just Another Good Reason to Buy a Mac

I already knew that the people over at Microsoft were idiots.  That fact has been confirmed to me every single time that I’ve powered up my Vista-platform PC.  One day, after Vista/Internet Explorer had me trying to fashion a noose with my power cord, I smartened up and went Mac.  But that isn’t really the point.  The point is that the people at Microsoft are idiots.

The software company committed to single-handedly sponsoring a Family Guy special due to air on November 8th.  Apparently, they just heard the title of the show and thought that it was a modern-day, souped up spinoff of the Waltons.  They didn’t know about the tampon references or incest jokes.  Microsoft doesn’t approve of Holocaust humor.  Now they’ve pulled their support with proclamations that the show “was not a fit with the Windows brand.”  And if Microsoft doesn’t think that Vista and the Holocaust have a few common elements, they’re kidding themselves.

  • Uummm….inapprope?

And please, for the love of God, proof-read your posts before you post them. The typos are getting a little out of hand.

    • Word. This was a marginally intelligible rant. I can roll with some thoughtful, subversive humor, but it doesn’t seem like any real thought or creativity went into this post.

    • Apple is seriously over-priced considering there’s nothing a Mac can do that a PC can’t do equally well (provided it’s not running Vista).

      • It’s not that I can’t spell, I just really don’t care enough to reread my comments on here. I was going put at an antique store but I changed it to vintage and didn’t realized I messed it up.

I’m also going to assume I have more education than most librarians.

      • Hey, the rude comments weren’t from me. I still think your glasses are badass. Who gives a shit how great you spell!

      • Oh no!
Someone anonymously insulted my looks over the internet!

I might just have to kill myself or, you know, not.

(and in response to the original complimenter, hah, I’m glad you don’t mind my lack of proofreading. thank you!)

      • “I might just have to kill myself or, you know, not.”

        The “might” sounds more promising.
Not a bad idea if your method is one that will obliterate your face.
A twin barreled 10 gauge under the chin maybe?

      • OK, this just got COMPLETELY innapropriate and disgusting. There is NO reason for anyone to be telling someone to kill themselves. you should be embarrassed

  • FUNNY! Way to dis Microsoft AND a show that celebrates ignorance. Boo to them both and hooray for Wendie!

  • Wait, I thought Microsoft does sponsor Holocaust related shows? What about the Home and Garden channel’s new series, “Concentration Camp Showers You’ll Love” ?

  • Now if only you could stop that “double spacing” that you do in all of your posts! : )

One last little present for you, that you inherited from using Microsoft’s Word App.!

That App. is so bad it uses the very old-school, incorrect usage of double spacing, or “English Spacing”. It makes you double-space after every period you type, and that hasn’t been required since the days of the desktop typewriter, when the words would end too close together!

(thanks for slamming MS! : )

    • You need to learn how to use MS Word, before you slam it over its functionality, because your double-space contention is false.
Also, double-spacing is not “incorrect usage”. It comes down to a matter of preferred usage in the computer age.
Your description of why double-spacing once was standard procedure is on the right path, but awkwardly described.

      • Not making fun of your job, DIna. Just making fun of you making sure we all knew you were so cool because you work for Apple. I, for one, think Jobs is from another planet and can’t be killed like normal earthlings. Now, get to fucking work on an Iphone app or something, would you?!

      • Shit, dude. Chill the fuck out. Did Apple kill your dog or something?

No one asked you to go around insulting innocent Apple employees.

      • I love how people can say how much they love Family Guy, where nothings off limits including incest, abortion and tampon comments but then get all testy when someone says something that hits closer to home. Whatever!

      • 1.) thanks thatlisa I appreciate supporters.
2.) I do not clean the toilets, that is a separate company they aren’t apple employees, they run their own business.
And 3.) I work as a mac specialist. I am not a smug hipster I am just very proud of the compAny I work for. I work very hard at my job and am proud to represent that company.

      • Yes there is such a variance in toilet designs these days.

I have also heard the shit from the ass of an Apple employee does have a rather sweeter and more delicate texture than that of a Microsoft employee. I guess it is the difference between Soy burgers with a Latte, and Deep fried corn fritters with a soda.

      • That’s my twin brother replying Dina, and he’s the evil one. For instance, I think you’re sweet, but he swears you’re just a cunt.

      • its pretty funny to me that through all these comments you still dont have the balls to put anything other than “anonymous”

  • i love a good mac! however, holocaust humor= not ok. Can you really blame them for pulling their support?

    • But Family Guy does Holocaust jokes all the time or at least jokes on the same level. You have to think they knew what they were getting into when they chose to support Family Guy.

  • Why do people get all upset when Natalie Portman relates eating animals to rape, but it’s alright for Wendie to relate Microsoft to the Holocaust?

And I actually really like Vista and Windows in general. I have had no problems with the Vista operating system and I don’t have some ridiculously priced top of the line system, either. I will admit that I scrapped IE in favor of Firefox, but I still like Vista and will be upgrading to 7 soon.

      • I’ve had two Macs and switched back to P.C. They’re not all that special, although I never got viruses on my mac. I also like the P.C. guy in the commercials way better than the Mac guy.

      • ME TOO! And I have a Mac! Justin Long, or whatever the hell his name is just annoys the crap outta me. I personally prefer the awkward, large, bespectacled PC man.

      • And that’s because Mac doesn’t have enough market share to effectively spread a virus, so there’s no point in writing one.

  • Roofie I agree.

I don’t understand why people get in such a huff over apple vs mac.
Dammit use what you want and move on! Why do you have and move on. The fact of the matter is both are good and people prefer one over the other because of the things they are used for.

I will say this though. I know far too many people that own Macs not cause they’re good for whatever it is they do. It’s because they think its so hip of them. I don’t see that same phenomenon with PC’s.

    • I use a mac because I was required to get one. It’s the preferred machine for art. I use a pc for any animating or modeling though, maya works better on PCs. It just depends what you need it for.

      • That was exactly my point! I basically write for a living so I have a PC cause I don’t need anything other than a good word processing program and Powerpoint every so often.

My brother, on the other hand, is a musician and video game developer so he works on Macs cause they support those types of programs. When he went to Berklee the Mac Book was part of the admission package he paid for.

I just don’t see why people can’t just use whatever and not try to shove their ideal (or hipness) down the world’s throat! LOL!

  • I have two mac book pros, and I love them. One I have had for four years, with zero problems. My new one is my little baby. Before that, I had several PCs that crashed all the time and got viruses. I won’t say that every PC sucks, but I will say that I will never have one again.

I am Lisa, and I am a mac. Sorry, y’all.

    • People who get viruses on their PCs are clearly too stupid to be using a computer and should go back to crayons and paper.

  • DIE VISTA, DIIIIEEEEE!!!!!

i have never hated microsoft more…. and i was SO against macs. but now – microsoft, you are pushing me off the edge…

    I NEED A MAC

  • I have a Mac and Windows. I’ve grown up with both. It really irritates me when people try to claim one is far superior to the other. Look, they each have their uses. I cannot stress that enough.

    • Actually, they have exactly the same uses. Everything you can do on a Mac, you can do equally well on a PC for less money. It’s not that one is technologically better, but one certainly is economically better.

  • I love it when people derive part of their identity from the products they own. Don’t tell me advertising doesn’t work.
