Ben Affleck: Jennifer Lopez Is Icky

Is Ben Affleck becoming the new Jennifer Aniston?  It’s entirely possible, because he recently spoke with Contact Music about the time that he was one half of the duo Bennifer.

BEN AFFLECK has spoken out about his high-profile relationship with former girlfriend JENNIFER LOPEZ – insisting it was bad for his movie career.
The actor began dating the singer in 2002 after starring in Gigli with her, and the pair later became engaged before splitting up shortly before their scheduled wedding in 2004.
Affleck is adamant he should never have got involved in the first place – because the publicity surrounding their romance tainted his career.
He says, “I was no longer in control of my life. I thought I wanted certain things, but I didn’t. I got lost. I felt suffocated, miserable and gross. I should never have gone down that route or got sucked in to all the publicity.
“I was typecast as myself. Too many people weren’t getting past what they read about me. That was damaging. I can tell from experience it’s bad for you, and bad for your career. So I took a break, went away for a while and let things calm down.”

Coincidentally, all things J. Lo make me feel suffocated too.  Of course that might have to do with my burying my face in a pillow and screaming whenever she appears on my radio or television screen.

Ben, you are a wise man and no longer overexposed.  Now, could you speak with a certain over-peroxided couple that need to learn the same lesson that you did?

  • good lord beat-
i read this story like 2 days ago on perezhilton. if you want to be a legitimate gossip site, you have to be ahead of the game. pathetic

    • It’s Beet, not Beat. And Wendie wrote the story.
Anyhooo….. to agree in some way, I would say that I have noticed that lately, the stories on here are about a day behind, and almost mimicking in headline or writeup, a couple of other sites. Coincidence? I check Lainey Gossip daily, and she’s usually a day ahead.

    • Honest question: Does it matter if stuff like this is a day or two late? If this site posted the news of Michael Jackson’s death a day or two late, that would be lame. But are Ben Affleck’s feelings about a relationship he had five years ago any less relevant on July 10 than they were on July 8? Personally, I don’t see how they could be. I consider this site more “entertainment” than “news.”

  • ***Since I never look at Perez and his hate filled site… I appreciate the girls here talking about anything they want to… ***

What I find odd about that “quote” is that there was not a legit interview with Affleck.

All Contact Music has is this random quote. And no explanation where it came from… like did Affleck actually do an interview with them. Cause he didn’t.

Lord knows I am not trying to defend him… but I find it highly suspicious that he suddenly gotta chatty about Lopez after all this time.

Plus I still suspect they would have been married had she been able to shut her mouth to the media about their relationship.

Had Lopez agreed to have gotten married at City Hall she would have landed him. But no she needed to have the big huge white wedding…. for a thousand guest… for the third time in less than 8 years. And she lost.

And I have yet to see a picture of Affleck looking all thrilled with the wife. So I really don’t think he is still very content with his private life.

  • As I recall, Ben Affleck took out a huge ad in Variety praising Jennifer Lopez. At the time, she was married to Chris Judd, her husband of less than a year. She later introduced Ben as her new boyfriend before the divorce was final. Evidently expensive ads work as well as diamonds, dinners, flowers, etc.

So Ben made a successful and extraordinarily public play for a married woman and then, if this interview is correct, got upset at the publicity?
Maybe this is what people do when they are barely out of rehab. He said, “I was no longer in control of my life.” I guess this could apply to substituting adultery (yeah, that old-fashioned trouble maker) and fame for booze.

  • I wasn’t really into celebrity gossip when they dated because I was pretty young, but I don’t care if he dated Jennifer Lopez (I like her music and movies, btw) because he is very attractive and a good actor. So I like him..

  • What a loser. Crybaby needs to move on and live his life. Stay out of Vegas and ditch the strippers. MAN UP ALREADY!!!

  • How stupid is he for talking about Jennifer Lopez years after they broke up??? I mean, I’m no Jlo’s fan, I don’t care, but I think is wrong to be talking about your ex. What is worse is that he is with somebody new and suppossedly already “moved” on. If it looks bad when its recent, at this point, its just pathetic!

  • He’s got nothing else to talk about, so he’s rehashing the past and the publicity he ate up with a spoon. If this is his new claim to fame, he’s even more pathetic than whiny loser Aniston. Hanging your hat on your victimhood is SO unattractive.

Strippers? This boy likes him some transvestites…

  • That relationship destroyed his acting career, he was a big star in big budget movies and all of that exposure ruined the ability to be cast as a character, he was Bennfer. I felt so bad for him because he’s a talented guy and a nice person. One thing that did happen is he has been able to direct and he’s good at it, so perhaps that will be what he continues to do. She’s still a embarrassment of no talent, and a string of relationships that all ended badly with the men disliking her intensely. She’s had to pay out the butt to keep exes, and boyfriends from talking about her, because it’s all bad.

I don’t feel sorry for MA either. He’s a turd just like she is.

  • I hadn’t heard of anybody called ben affleck until jennifer lopez started being with him, what’s he talking about? Pls ben get a life.
